just waiting for everyone to disagree with me that it's very disappointing
| |
Loving Walton's bass work on this so far.
| |
One of metals finest moments by one of metals finer acts.
| |
One incredible record and a bunch of overrated shit. I can't wait to see the userbase splooge over this thing.
| |
this was a fucking bore
| |
I used to love them but now I'm not so sure why
| |
guess one person says its dissipointing and we all jump on the banwagon, diggin it so far
| |
that really isn't very different from the 'it's amazing' bandwagon, and people were saying it was amazing before i uttered a word about it
| |
just strange to see so many 2's for a such a highly praised band, don't think the quality has dropped that much (or at all) for this release
| |
Stoked
| |
Album's a solid 3.5 or a 4. I enjoyed it, but not as much as their past works.
| |
album is still solid but they're definitely past their prime
| |
Aww fucking sweet. Will check this out tomorrow.
| |
Never listened to a full Agalloch record before. I guess I can try now.
| |
This is gonna take a lot of listens to figure out. I enjoyed most of it, but the vocal production was weird. Levels kept changing. Dekker's performance impressed me.
| |
I'm honestly surprised this got a story before the Swans stream.
| |
zzzz
| |
everyone's heard the swans leak by now, this didn't leak before the stream
| |
this is pretty sweet so far
| |
I'm sure there are plenty of people that somehow avoided the 96 kbps leak of a frigging Swans album
| |
good so far, though yeah the way the levels go up and down rapidly or w/e is really annoying
| |
ok cool m/
| |
pretty decent so far but I don't see this as a grower, some parts (especially some of the more basic riffs played over the even more basic double bass) are irking me too much... Agalloch shouldn't rely on post-rock vibes to carry their metal
| |
Some really brief but brilliant moments scattered around a really boring album. I'll let it sink in over a few listens but I'm not feeling it overall.
| |
holy shit when did this happen
| |
Some really brief but brilliant moments scattered around a really boring album
nice review for every agalloch album
| |
oh jac
| |
This made my night
| |
you are all diseased
| |
rules
noctus is just being a negative nancy yet again
also lol adam your opinion doesnt count any more because you decided to change your username to what is objectively the worst name I have ever seen
| |
better than Marrow and Faustian echoes, that's for sure.
Not as good as pale folklore/the mantle, but personally so far its up to par with ashes.
| |
aaaaaaaaaaaaand naturally i have to work today so this will have to wait until later
| |
Sweet.
Always up for some more Agalloch.
| |
Managed to sneak in the first three tracks before leaving for work. The first 2 tracks had a combined 2 minutes of interesting material out of an available 15. "The Astral Dialogue" rips though, good track.
| |
Managed to listen to this between 5-6 am this morning when it first leaked (now I'm at work hahaha) and I don't know what to say about it.
| |
far from disappointing thats for sure. just sputshitters love to hype/antihype.
| |
listening now. probably won't see an opinion from me for a while. one of my fave bands, so i'm not gonna knee jerk it
| |
Yeah, I've had this for a while and I can agree that it isn't very good. First four songs have their moments (Astral Dialogue especially) and the interludes are sweet but everything else is just so painfully average.
| |
Astral Dialogue is nice...I'll check the rest of the album later
| |
Just feels like another marrow. Barely pushes a 3.5 for me. what a bummer...
| |
"The first 2 tracks had a combined 2 minutes of interesting material out of an available 15."
Thats how it sounded to me too, ideas spread really thin. Got to give the whole thing a few plays though before deciding.
| |
really is quite a shame this turned out the way it is...
| |
Still better than the newest Cynic album.
| |
starts off a bit dull but quite enjoyed it further in
| |
Album is fucking awesome, as expected.
| |
don't worry its good. just nowhere near as amazing as their first 3 albums
| |
of all the opinions i see none of them should really bother you
| |
YEEEEESSSSSSS
| |
not bad, it's just lacking anything exciting about it.
| |
very good album, a solid 4 after 1st listen!
| |
really mean soundoff about me
not sure how i feel
| |
be positive
| |
...on 3rd spin and having goosebumps, fucking glorious album, might be Agallochs Magnum Opus. Definitely their most diverse album, the musicianship was never better and it has a great production.
| |
disagree with pretty much every single point you just made
| |
on first listen, so do i
lol
| |
rofl
| |
wow 1 hour do i really want to devote time to this hmm this is a tough one
| |
thread brings the hate
| |
Wasn't feeling the last one so much, I guess we shall see how this one is.
| |
Album is fucking monolithic in scope! I agree that it is definitely Agalloch's magnum opus.
| |
went to go stream the new Agalloch album and then found out through an ad that a new Wye Oak album is
out. didnt even know they were releasing another one. great fuckin day.
| |
im kind of just sampling it right now cause i dont have time to listen to the whole thing, but so far
im underwhelmed...maybe itll be better when i take the time to listen to the whole thing front to
back. i really hope so, Agalloch have never failed me before. one complaint i have is the kick drum,
its more clicky than it has been on their past records.
| |
I almost feel like I grew out of Agalloch...? Is that possible?
| |
it shouldnt be, i still love all their other albums.
| |
"also lol adam your opinion doesnt count any more because you decided to change your username to what is objectively the worst name I have ever seen"
it's his first initial and a bit of his last name... you need to calm down man you're like me 2 years ago
| |
I wanna know what snide thinks before I give this a romp.
| |
So, I listened to this 3 times yesterday through headphones, and completely reversed my opinion from the initial listen. This is a lot more sophisticated than I initially took it to be, and has a lot more subtlety than their previous work. I think I initially just wanted all of the melody from Ashes which is why I was disappointed with Marrow. I still don't really care that much for Marrow, I consider this to be a vast improvement. The album as a whole is better, even if it lacks the catchiness of some of their early works.
| |
Solid 4. This is just as good if not better than their last album.
| |
Just got my copy in the mail and so far, the production sounds better than the shitty rip that's floating around.
| |
which is why i wait for an actual CD rip, fuck downloading a stream rip.
| |
That stream they have up is awful too.
| |
yeah the stream is really bad. i actually thought the rip was better
| |
