a friend told me this a few days ago and i didnt believe him. i never would of pegged geoff rickly for this
| |
GDI I wrote an article on this too. Eh.
| |
Not bad, Geoff can salvage anything
| |
Rickly, really? Well I never.
| |
Guess this means no new United Nations for a while then....
| |
New United Nations album is out in like two weeks what are you on about
| |
oh sweet didn't know that.
| |
Haha dude there's also a new song called Serious Business if you weren't aware
| |
Nope, must've slipped under my radar. If only someone had posted an article I would've known. Turns out they released a second new song too
| |
I'm sure there must have been an article somewhere?
Second song? I missed that one, damn. Link?
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug9DuK5s9Sk Meanwhile on Main Street
| |
Ah sweet this rules
iTunes says the bonus track is 24 minutes hmmmm
| |
Well this is surprisingly solid. Is the band name a nod to No DevoluciĆ³n perhaps?
| |
That's the first thing I thought when I saw it hahaha
Don't really know but it seems like the kinda thing Rickly would do, doesn't it
| |
Fronted by Geoff Rickly? Interesting! Song is decent
| |
"Losprophets return..."
meh
"...fronted by Geoff Rickly"
wooo this is gonna be amazing
| |
one of the band members is apparently an artist i'm following on Instagram, who posted this news earlier via a photo. i had no idea of that link until then but he's good.
and the name change is definitely a good idea.
| |
Well it's more or less an entirely new band, I don't think they'll ever play any LP material.
| |
Yeah agreed I view this less as a name change and more a new project, Geoff is undoubtedly gonna have a massive influence on style
| |
ah I see, I misinterpreted the news title as it being a name change. i know next to nothing about Lostprophets musically - i only recognised Geoff Rickly in the photo
| |
They were on the poppier side of nu metal and released a few crappy albums as well as one retrospectively disturbing music video. That's about it. My sister used to like them, I never saw the appeal. And I love nu metal.
| |
They had two really good albums imo but that's only for nostalgia's sake. The idea with this project seems to be that they're broadening their horizons so I'm hoping for a couple of genres to be included on whatever they end up releasing
| |
I am so glad the guys from Lostprophets have moved on and managed to get Geoff involved. Great track, it must be great for them to banish their past history
| |
Geoff is the best man way to go Geoff
| |
Yeah, you can go away now William
| |
Geoff is inspirational.
I like the track, but it reminds me of Danger Days by MCR...
| |
nice guy geoff
| |
No contest yeah
| |
"
"Losprophets return..."
meh
"...fronted by Geoff Rickly"

[2] Went from mild curiosity to boarding the hype train in seconds
| |
This is interesting.
Have been curious to see what Geoff has been up to and this was a pleasant surprise.
Spent many a sad night as a teen listening to Thursday.
| |
As usual, the youtube comments are hilarious
| |
Arcade, where u hear this?
| |
'Have been curious to see what Geoff has been up to and this was a pleasant surprise.'
UNITED NATIONS
BRO
| |
This is great, can't wait to hear more from this band
| |
Fucking United Nations SWEET LAWD
| |
best band
| |
wow pretty cool that Geoff is in it
| |
This is fucking great
| |
okay that ending is actually INCREDIBLY annoying and redundant but the rest of the tune is SO GOOD
fuck Ian Watkins, but good on these guys for finding something worthwhile to spend their time
| |
fuck Ian Watkins, but good on these guys for finding something worthwhile to spend their time [2]
| |
dimsim was right about this sounding like an atmospheric MCR. song isn't too bad
love that solo towards the end
| |
guess i'll be the first to say this song is bad.
| |
i like it.
| |
wat
| |
Will listen just for Geoff Rickly
| |
this weirds me out
| |
still nonce enablers
| |
Their song was on radio 1 rock show last night and it sounded like an 80's dance rock tune. Awful stuff
| |
this weirds me out
absolutely nothing weird about it tho
| |
i mean kinda tho. completely out of left field for me at least. song is alright, though.
| |
^eh i guess i've been listening to quite a bit of synthpop recently so i'm desensitized
| |
thursday did love their synths and atmosphere anyway, this is just a catchier version of that
| |
alright
| |
Still dont quite understand how the rest of the band did not know of the creepy singers actions.
| |
it's not that hard to hide your actions from people close to you
how do you think people hide extra marital affairs for years
and when you have money power and fame it probably becomes even easier. just cos they were in a band doesn't mean they were together 365/24/7
| |
And the fact he apparently only ever showed up for shows and publicity and the band didn't see him outside of that.
| |
Sounds a bit too poppy for my taste.

| |
Have to say I enjoyed this a lot, got some seriously 80's vibes to it. Also sounds like it wouldn't have been out of place in the Drive soundtrack, which is aces in my book.
| |
I like it, the other song Eyeshadow is pretty cool too
| |
Arcade: I would brag about fucking a fat girl, had I fucked a fat girl before.
| |
word!
| |
reminds me of a song i can't remember off my chemical romance's last album
| |
Great to see these guys pulling through after that twat Ian almost ruined their careers with his
horrible actions. Whilst I still listen to Lostprophets today as I think the music shouldn't be
affected by the artist's actions and demeanour, this new material with Geoff Rickly sounds solid. I'll
be sure to check out any future work from them. Best wishes to Mike, Lee, Stu, Jamie and Luke.
| |
can't listen to lostprophets anymore i tried but when i heard ian sing all i could think of was "wow this dude tried raping a baby" and then my whole mood just went so south
| |
Likewise. Can't listen to them without associating it with what Ian did. I just can't...
| |
damn this is pretty nice, rickly is really versatile
| |
Good stuff!
| |
Not bad, I never liked Lostprophets, especially after hearing about their disgusting former member, this song feels like it was written for fans who have maybe lost their faith in the band due to that idiot's vile acts. It's good to see the name change, and while I don't really like this song, I like what they're going for, and the singer's definitely better than that last jerk. Still, I'm not really interested in this band. I've never been a big fan of this genre of music, where most of these artists sound like a confused blend between Top 40 pop fodder and bland, wannabe metal, especially when it sounds overly poppy (like this song, which kind of annoyed me).
| |
Cool that they were able to move on.
| |
why did they break up and where is ian watkins
jk
| |
band that released one of my fave albums of 2010 combines with band that released one of my fave albums of 2011
will def follow these happenings
| |
Feather: I have. No shame. She went hard and was worth it.
| |
Well shit, since Geoff is involved I'm definitely interested
| |
It sounds like he's taking a cue from Daryl Palumbo and Head Automatica. This is okay.
| |
ain't bad.
| |
I'm excited this seems like something Geoff has never done before. Song was good.
| |
I thought of No Devolucion too.
| |
Oh wow, didn't see this coming.
Hopefully it works out for them.
| |
I first thought of No Devolucion just because of similarity in words, but I think there is zero percent relation to the two.
| |
For some reason I get an Anberlin vibe off of the chorus of this.
| |
I'm excited that geoff is fronting this! unexpected
| |
no devolucion
| |
Finally listened.
I like the direction they're taking.
| |
For some reason I get an Anberlin vibe off of the chorus of this.
lol
| |
Very My Chemical Romance like in a way, but as people have said, more 80's-ish, more atmospheric, I like it.
| |
cool
| |
I don't see the appeal in this but good for them for getting that Watkins bullshit behind them
| |
Song is decent
| |
song is actually about Watkins staying behind bars
it's a veiled message
| |
Geoff is definitely showing his pop side here.
| |
What was wrong with "the incest brothers"?
| |
In all seriousness, I'm glad the other innocent members could salvage something from this whole mess.
| |
I really dig this song, there's very little I haven't liked that Geoff has been involved in.
| |
Better than expected!
| |
second time listening to this and holy shit this is really bad
| |
