New Patrick Watson Single 2015-01-27 by Onirium | 9 Comments | Montreal singer-songwriter Patrick Watson (and his eponymous band) has released a new single this week, entitled 'Turn Into the Noise', which will be appearing on the second half of the American television program The Walking Dead's fifth season. The singer's 'Noisy Sunday' track had previously appeared in the show.
Watson states he loves composing for cinema and television, and additionally announced that the track will be appearing on his upcoming solo album, Love Songs for Robots, scheduled for release this spring.
He described the album as in the same spirit as the song itself, in that it is much less folk-influenced than his previous works, and slightly R&B-induced and inspired by science-fiction.
'Turn Into the Noise' is currently available on iTunes, and you can catch the preview in which it is featured here:

So excited for his new album. Any news on when that is supposed to be released?
| | | I loved Adventures in Your Own Backyard. I am so excited for this new album. Not entirely sold on this new song though! Maybe it will grow on me.

It's quite different, but it might turn out to be an interesting new direction for him
| | | Yeah the song is odd vocally, instrumentally its a sprawling cool piece of music. I'm stoked for this. How he is not more popular on this site is beyond me.
| | | Yeah, it suprises me too; his music definitely has a lot elements many people are looking for. The more I hear from this new direction Watson is taking, the more I get excited. I don't think I prefer it to his older sound, but it's great to see he's taking risks. I don't know if you've checked them out, but his two other new songs are excellent as well:

| | | I feel he his sound has progressed smoothly. This seems like a natural progression so far. Thanks for posting this dude I'm more stoked now too. I was a little concerned he was changing his vocal style to that of turn into the noise. places you will go almost sounds like a Broken social scene song when they were at their best
| | | I sense the Broken Social Scene vibe as well in Places You Will Go, and although it's a great and interesting song, it's probably my least favourite so far from the three he previewed. It exploits perfectly the more spacey atmosphere of the new sound nonetheless
| | | His sound changes a bit every album, I personally didn't love Close to Paradise. It was such a shift to go from an album with electronic influences to such an organic Wooden Arms. His evolving passionate music has made him one of my favourite artists in only a few years
| | | Close to Paradise has its share of brilliant songs, but I definitely agree that it doesn't stand out very much as a whole when compared to Wooden Arms and Adventures. Paradise ends up producing a bit of cold feeling, whereas Wooden Arms' organic percussion-driven sound gave birth to some of his most interesting experimentations in my opinion. And well, Adventures is such a warm and beautiful melodic work. So yeah, so far his music has been evolving in a great way; I'm curious to see how the new album will keep up with that trend.
