Mumford & Sons premiere new track

2015-04-09 by NordicMindset | 37 Comments
Mumford & Sons premiered 'The Wolf', the second single from their upcoming third album, Wilder Mind (due May 4th), on BBC's Radio 1 earlier today.

The track continues the British indie folk band's promise to drop the banjo and focus on a more electric guitar-driven sound for their new album.

Pretty boring but at least it isn't a Coldplay cover like their first single.

How does one go into a studio everyday and produce the most bovine, mindless twaddle they can imagine? At least some Top 40 artists sound like the enjoy making music, which can make for a good song occasionally.

I've always tried to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, thinking they could serve as a gateway to more original acts in the genre.
Their previous records sound almost identical, so I can applaud them for trying something new. That said, this change in direction is even less interesting to me than the banjo years.

" so I can applaud them for trying something new"

I don't, this is about as close to the definition of "sellout" as it gets and that was with them being sellout faux hipsters to begin with.

Seriously, this is more interesting than non-stop, re-hashed vanilla fauxlk that sounds like very other whistle-diddle hipster band that has been making it on the radio since these guys came out.

Booooring. Their last album was pretty great imo but this change in style isn't helping them. They no longer get to show people that they have talent if they're gonna play this basic rock stuff

Why would somebody, on their right mind, decide to transform his band into a poor man's Kings of Leon??

I actually think this will be their best album yet.

Might even be a 2.5/5
