I was really happy to see this news, I had no idea what Nick Cave was gonna do after what happened last year. Perhaps working on this helped him cope.
|
| |
Fuck yeah, good for Cave. I've got a feeling this will have some heavy, depressing content.
|
| |
Album of the year very likely just announced. I feel rather guilty that I'm anticipating the impact his loss had on the music
|
| |
Probably the best ever for sure

Nick Cave remains the king[2]
|
| |
Push the Sky Away was his best in 23 years, hope he keeps it up
|
| |
great newz
|
| |
I guess this should motivate me to finally check some of his stuff out, been meaning to for quite a while.
|
| |
It's some of the best music ever recorded, Man, do it.
|
| |
Hmmmm. Think we can come to a consensus starting point for boney?? I started with Henry's Dream, and I was immediately intrigued, but I don't know if it is very representative of Cave's work as a whole.
|
| |
Is there really a Bad Seeds record that could easily represent his work as a whole? He's done so many twists and turns with his music.
|
| |
Yeah, probably not. Boney, after browsing your pie-chart and 'favorites' I'd check Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus or Let Love In first an see what you think.
|
| |
I don't think Nick Cave has a definitive starting point, it depends what you're looking for.
Let Love In for a skin crawling, seedy, nightmarish "someone's following you," vibe,
Murder Ballads if you want something so over the top it starts to feel like a musical
The Boatman's Call for something really honest, raw, restrained, naked
Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus for a good sort of Nick Cave taster platter
Tender Prey for some grimy dive bar sort-of-post punk.
Not sure Henry's Dream as an album is the best place to start, but Papa Won't Leave You, Henry is undoubtedly one of the best introductory songs
|
| |
Push the Sky Away for more minimalist and atmospheric stuff
|
| |
all Seeds from 1992-2009 follow the same formula, the arrangements change here and there (most obviously on The Boatman's Call) but the "skeletons of songs" are rather similar.
|
| |
Awesome news!
|
| |
Best artist ever
|
| |
This is fantastic news, I got introduced through Red Right Hand in the X-Files and bought Murder Ballads on CD many years ago, then went through the rest of the discography over time. I'm very curious how this will turn out given how Sky sounded.
|
| |
Only got into him a couple of months ago and was so sad when I read the news about his kid. Glad to see he's coming back, he's absurdly consistently great so I've no doubt it'll be one hell of a listen
|
| |
I need this
|
| |
shame about the pre-ordering through JB Hi-fi though, he needs a better system there
|
| |
"one of the best solo artists"
lol
love him tho
|
| |
i wonder how sons death will impact this release.
fuck that shit was depressing. fucking 15.
|
| |
Yeah he's not really a solo artist that's just how I've grown up thinking about him before really knowing more.
|
| |
Although granted at this point it is really a Cave/Ellis duo with everyone else more or less glorified session musicians
