Watchtower tease compilation EP

Texan metal shredders Watchtower, namely the line-up that gave Control and Resistance to mankind, will release an EP compilation on October 7, through Prosthetic Records.

The EP, titled Concepts of Math: Book One, will contain the 2010 digital single "The Size of Matter", three songs published in digital platforms throughout 2015, plus a brand new cut, titled "Mathematica Calculis".

Vocalist Alan Tecchio commented as follows:

"I am so stoked to be a part of this legendary jazz-metal-prog group once again! Right now we are close to finishing the tracking for the additional 10 minute song that we are adding to the other four tunes. This will complete the EP that Prosthetic plans to release later this year. I can tell you that the new song is especially super cool and has that classic Watchtower sound. I think the fans, both new and old, will have a deep appreciation for what is going to be available from us later this year."

I'd much rather wait for a year or two more and get a full-scale LP from these guys

I agree a full length album would be better, but after more than two decades its still better than nothing.

It's great that all these songs are gathered in one place, because there are people who still listen to full releases, rather than isolated songs published on digital platforms.

The new song is awesome and it's almost 10 minutes long. Maybe I just had crappy copies of the other songs, but they sound better on this album too.

but they sound better on this album too

I really can't tell, 'cause I' didn't listen to any version of them, but this is why formal releases are useful.

They were the heroes of my youth, followed them thru their European tour, so stoked for this! Alan Tecchio is so much better than Jason Mcmaster.

Hopefully the full Mathematics album including these tracks eventually comes out. After "Book One", there will be six tracks remaining of the total eleven.

Well Omair, they were working on an album called Mathematics around the early 90s but sessions slowed and eventually the album was scrapped. Then in 2010 they came out with a song called The Size of Matter which they said was gonna be from "the upcoming album 'Mathematics'", and now the upcoming EP is called Concepts of Math: Book One. They put out another trailer when three of the songs on this EP (M-Theory Overture, Arguments Against Design, and Technology Inaction) were released a year ago:

This trailer notes that the different song titles all align to different letters in the word "Mathematics". Thus, I assume Book One will be five songs that were going to be on Mathematics (which I guess is now a series of EPs called "Concepts of Math" that will hopefully be compiled into a full album titled Mathematics), then Book Two will be more songs that would've been on the full Mathematics album. The full Mathematics album, if it ever comes out, will probably be eleven tracks long, and the first letter of each song title will spell out "Mathematics", as hinted at in the trailer for those three tracks.

Hearing the closing epic on this EP will likely be my apex of October 7th. At last this prog/tech monster's time gap between releases is about to end.
