OH MY FUCKING GOD

full mast for the entire week
|
| |
Oh shit I forgot this was coming
|
| |
it's great, of course. seems this time around, they decided to steer away from their black metal roots for more of a modern metal sound
|
| |
I was hearing it as increasing the folk

That album cover. Big fan of the Voice of Steel, gonna jam now. Thanks for sharing!
|
| |
not quite as strong as VoS imo, but gonna blow any other folk that comes out this year out of the water

On my third listen now. It's definitely really good but not as thoroughly fantastic as The Voice of Steel. It reminds me more of Weltanschauung tbh. There is a lot of content here but sometimes I feels like it trails off and I can't really remember what I just listened to, which is a problem I don't have with The Voice of Steel. I have now listened to the single "Wolfish Berries" a total of maybe 8-9 times, but it still doesn't do that much for me. There aren't any immediate bangers like Ukraine, which is a fairly basic track, but with extremely good highlights like the solo and the outro. The folk aspects in Verity are very well arranged and layered, but as mentioned earlier, it doesn't reach the same epic hights as The Voice of Steel (Valkyrie being another example where they go total apeshit with the epicness). My favorite tracks so far is the first (Мольфа) and eleventh (Ніч Богів), both being two of the catchiest. The second one kinda reminds me of the title track from The Voice of Steel (both appearing as the second track after the atmospheric intro), but a bit lacking in memorable riffs. I like the production a lot, but I experienced a lot of crackling, which I found to be both annoying and delightfully noisy. It might just be my headphones, even though they are pretty solid and should be able to handle loud albums.

agree with all of that
|
| |
About to jam this so fucking hard.
|
| |
Overrated band.
|
| |
that's weird, you misspelled underrated
|
| |
Oh, you mean the band with albums every little kvlt bm fanboy has been dickriding for the past 10 years?
Yeah, there's better "folksy" BM out there.
|
| |
Great album, but not on the level of VoS. They are focusing more on the folky, interesting elements rather than the perfect balance of folk and metal in their previous work.
|
| |
when did wait what shit
|
| |
Wolfhorde nails it.
|
| |
Calling them overrated is fine, whatever, but The Voice of Steel is undoubtedly top tier within the niche that is "folksy" bm.
