Invent Animate Vocalist Leaves 2018-01-10 by SteakByrnes | 44 Comments |
Progressive metalcore band Invent Animate and their vocalist, Ben English, have parted ways. Ben wrote a statement on the band's Facebook page, you can read it here:
"A new year, and like everything else in life, a new year brings change and growth. I’ve spent the last six years of my life with some of my favorite musicians and some of my best friends on the planet, and it’s hard to say this in any way, so ill just say it. My time with Invent Animate has come to end.
Being in a band and traveling across the world was the dream, and I was just living in it. Over time, the strains of being away from home so much and the stress that it brought to me mentally and physically took its toll on me. I started to lose myself on the road. I started to question things that I would have never questioned. The fire that once drove me, isn’t what it once was. And the guys noticed that, and don’t deserve that, not after everything that we’ve been through. I need to take the time to find that fire again, to find that source of whatever it may be, that I felt so long ago. This wasn’t an easy decision, that’s for damn sure. It was an emotional, mutual, bittersweet decision. And i’d be a lying fool if I said i won’t miss it, and i won’t miss all of you, and all of the friends that I made along the way.
I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but being back home in lumberton, texas and being surrounded by friends and family is right where I want to be right now - I want to thank my best friends, Keaton, Caleb, and Trey for allowing me to be the voice and the words of the unstoppable force that is Invent Animate, and giving me that outlet for so many years. And a big thank you to our whole team who has grinded and worked their ass off for this band from the ground up. And lastly I want to thank every single person who showed support for me and the guys on the road or just by picking up a cd. I’ll truly never forget the times we had, and the amazing people i’ve met through music. Thanks for the memories, and nothing but love to all of you. Invent Animate 2018 is truly going to be something special, and i’ll be cheering on my boys til the day i’m in the ground. Endless love to all of you.
- Ben"
He was in the band since its inception, and helped make the EP "Waves", and the two albums that came after, being "Everchanger" and "Stillworld". No word has been said about a replacement yet.

This upsets me quite a bit, I fucking loved this dude's vocals
|
| |
bummer. dude was good. band was (is) good. one of the only metalcore bands of the last 5ish years worth a shit
|
| |
The exact same thing happened with Northlane as well; one EP, two albums, and then the frontman leaves. These guys always were said to be the spiritual successor to them
|
| |
rip
|
| |
They'll pull a Northlane and release their two best albums with a new vocalist
|
| |
You are like the only person who thinks that
|
| |
Such a bummer, he seemed like a real nice dude when I saw them live last month, really good live performance and stage presence. Hope IA find another vocalist and don't split.
|
| |
yeah that is complete horseshit. Northlane's last two albums are dull as dishwater.
This is pretty disastrous news. I love these guys.
|
| |
Fuck, these guys are up there with Counterparts when it comes to solid metalcore. Ben's vocals were always amazing.
|
| |
RIP Steak's favourite band
|
| |
sounds like they need to Invent Vocalist now.
|
| |
This upsets me a lot as well. They have been one of my favorites the last few years.
|
| |
Oh no wtf :c its another Northlane situation... Bummer dude.
|
| |
Well this fucking sucks. Dude had some monstrous lows. I still got faith that IA will still be good but its hard to imagine how they'd sound with a different vocalist.
|
| |
Yeah his lows are the best
|
| |
"Progressive metalcore"
So djent?
|
| |
This is gonna be another Northlane situation Isn’t it? So that means they’ll release 2 shitty djent albums, great.
|
| |
Damn almost the entire metalcore crew in the house
|
| |
they had a good run, RIP
|
| |
Odd that people think new Northlane is so inferior when the average ratings are 0.1 below Singularity
Never got into IA, but I imagine they have the potential to improve even after this.
|
| |
Rip IA :/
and yes post-singularity northlane blows
|
| |
The gang's all here bloc, to mourn this unfortunate parting of ways of a fantastic vocalist. Honestly they probably were getting up there to be my favorites
And pj I wouldn't call them djent
|
| |
At least they still have their incredible guitarist and drummer, but Ben was such a staple. When I thought of this band I thought of Ben
|
| |
What ever happened to the I, The Breather guy? He has some pipes, they should get him.
|
| |
^ word, Shawn is/was a monster
|
| |
Shawn wanted to focus on his family so I doubt he'd want to be in another band. He wouldn't really fit their sound anyway, and his lows are very weak compared to Ben's
|
| |
I'm not going to compare their vocals but I always really dug Shawn's screams and found them particularly spine-curdling.
|
| |
I loved his vocals as well, but he would not fit in this band
|
| |
Purely conjecture but I think part of the reason may be the toll the style of screaming has taken on his voice. Adrian left Northlane for this reason, this guys style is quite similar and it wouldn't surprise me if he had the same problem with the voice.
|
| |
Only difference is that Ben's reason for leaving is completely different, he never said anything about vocal damage
Yo I haven't been this devastated about a vocalist leaving since Garrison left Erra
|
| |
Bummer, they were great. Last two cds ripped.
|
| |
The EP was great too. And I know how heartbroken you are Steak
|
| |
Good call on the I The Breather guy though, he is awesome.
|
| |
I miss that band
|
| |
Same, they were like a poor man's ABR but they were fun as hell. Less happy tappy and more heavy ass breakdowns.
Way better than Texas in July too lol
|
| |
Yea they were such a good ABR clone lmao, but with their own flair to make it fun. I loved the riffs that their guitarists would could up with, like on Meaning and Judgement
Texas In July were super average
|
| |
TIJ's final album with JT Cavey was boss.
|
| |
True, they stepped it up on the last one. And their "classic" track Hook, Line, and Sinner slaps planets.
|
| |
Texas In July should've stayed together so JT wouldn't have gone to Erra to be a monotone sissy
|
| |
WHOA CALM DOWN
|
| |
He's right lol
|
| |
The dude from Of Glaciers would make a great replacement
|
| |
Yoooooo that would've been fucking sweet, that dude was a monster
|
| |
They'll pull a Northlane and release their two best albums with a new vocalist
