ain't it

These guys have grown off me sooooooo hard over the years its incredible
|
| |
I do not see how this new album is gonna catch
blurryface was a bad album but at least there were choruses, so I understand why shit caught. these are SEVERELY melodically challenged.
|
| |
well
at least its nowhere near as disappointing as Pray For the Wicked.
|
| |
they're both okay
|
| |
Total cheeseball band, and I love it. Both songs slap
|
| |
Honestly jumpsuit is pretty cool even though these guys don't write the strongest of hooks.
|
| |
Ya know, I really don’t hate this band’s music... but their fanbase is the most cancerous community on the face of this earth.
|
| |
These guys have grown off me sooooooo hard over the years its incredible [2]
"Jumpsuit" is pretty good but "Nico..." is awful. Sounds like a Blurryface B-side and I really don't like that record these days.
|
| |
Yippee my favourite band [2]
AOTY-worthy.
On a sidenote, how do you write this band's name?
a) twenty one pilots
b) 21 pilots
c) THE 21 Pilots
d) Other
|
| |
Lol these are terrible, production is ass and the vocals are garbage
|
| |
"alternative group"
|
| |
Still love “Jumpsuit” and still hate “Nico”
|
| |
I liked Vessels, but blurryface was a huge disappointment, and these songs might have good moments, they still fail as songs and don’t get me hyped at all.
|
| |
Jumpsuit is a bop. Nico is fine but sounds like a Blurryface B-side. Still really looking forward to the new album.
|
| |
Proving that their best album will always be their first album since 2009
|
| |
Twenty One Pilots: the only alternative group/artist relevant to Top 40 pop culture. Multiple singles gone to #1. Every single song on last album certified platinum--a feet never accomplished before in the history of music.
Sputnik: "they're melodically challenged." "They don't write strong hooks." "Vocals and production are garbage."
LOL. Can opinions even get more laughably wrong than this?
|
| |
Because as we know, commercial success equates to talent.
|
| |
Danred97 nope, missing the point like everyone else.
Point is, it's impossible to achieve what they have achieved without #1: strong melodies, #2: catchy hooks, #3: good vox and production. Impossible.
Trying to insinuate that they lack talent is, to expound on my previous statement, not just laughably--but demonstrably--wrong.
|
| |
I get why people love this band but I just can't take their lyrics seriously anymore.
|
| |
Jumpsuit is okay but god they need to cut the faux-reggae shit out.
|
| |
Jumpsuit's riff feels a little underplayed, like they're not strumming that guitar hard enough? It's just kinda trailing distortion, idk
|
| |
Band can write a strong hook for certain, but I also agree that they are not very talented musicians outside of that.
|
| |
Jumpsuit is pretty great tbh, but the other track is really eh to bad
|
| |
Liked Jumpsuit, and the other one is alright. I liked Vessel and prior, but I haven't been the biggest fan since then. And yeah the fanbase is pretty terrible.
|
| |
"Point is, it's impossible to achieve what they have achieved without #1: strong melodies, #2: catchy hooks, #3: good vox and production. Impossible."
All of these things are completely subjective so your point is dumb
|
| |
@ScorpionStan - Agreed. It's pop music written for mass appeal though, so sputnik is gonna call it garbage.
Production, hooks, lyrics and arrangements on Blurryface were great, and if the band never blew up I'm sure sput would love them.
|
| |
Has anyone heard their debut? I mean sure they're not very good now but that doesn't mean they aren't talented
|
| |
I strongly dislike TOP, but Jumpsuit is super good. I love the slightly distorted bass line, and the vocal performance here is incredible. Also the album art is wonderful. Against my better judgement, I might actually be genuinely excited for a Twenty One Pilots Album, despite the fact that Nico and And The Niners is pretty bad.
|
| |
sounds like bullshit Imagine Dragons. Vacuous nothing. Also Cobus on drums is wasted on this kind of music
|
| |
Yeah the artwork is pretty neat
|
| |
"It's pop music written for mass appeal though, so sputnik is gonna call it garbage."
Sputnik can be elitist sometimes, but come on, most stuff written for mass appeal is garbage. It's designed to have no depth/creativity/meaning and just privilege catchy hooks above all else. Then once the hook wears off you never listen to the song again. They've made their money by that point though, so they don't care that their music is meaningless.
|
| |
jumpsuit is aight, couldnt make it through second song
|
| |
@OllieS I agree, and chainsmokers for instance, are a great example of a band that writes formulaic hooks with derivative lyrics, but are still wildly popular.
Songs on Blurry face like the title track have cleverly-written lyrics with double meanings that evoke feelings of triumph, nostalgia and regret and they're all woven into massive hooks. Yeah it's pop and yeah its super mainstream, but its really well done.
"Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young
How come I’m never able to identify where it’s coming from
I’d make a candle out of it if I ever found it
Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I’d probably only sell one
It’d be to my brother, 'cause we have the same nose
Same clothes homegrown a stone’s throw from a creek we used to roam
But it would remind us of when nothing really mattered
Out of student loans and tree-house homes we all would take the latter"
That's good songwriting man!
|
| |
jumpsuit is pretty decent, the other song is kinda really bad
|
| |
The falsetto in Jumpsuit reminds me a bit of Mew. That's a good thing. Way better than Dirty Soul and whatever that annoying song was from that movie. Not a fan of the band besides that first song they released, but they're clearly very talented.
|
| |
Yeah Nico kinda sucks
|
| |
@Spikel, I was thinking the same thing. Miss me some of that Triumph for Man / Glass Handed Kites sound tho
|
| |
Jumpsuit is pretty cool, the other one is kinda trash tho
|
| |
yep they're still shite
|
| |
Jumpsuit's great, yeah the other one's kinda lame, though I dig some of the insturmental
|
| |
Jumpsuit is alright, Nico is ((( B A L L S )))
|
| |
"Jumpsuit" is great. "Nico" is decent, methinks it's getting a bit too much hate
