This might be really bad but I'm still intrigued.

If The Unlimited is any indication, this will be perfectly competent and utterly pointless.
|
| |
"perfectly competent and utterly pointless"
^basically summed up my thoughts
|
| |
I just have a gut feeling that it won't be? My gut is pretty reliable, and I dump pretty much whatever in there as well
|
| |
Huh
|
| |
It's a gut joke, if you have the intestinal fortitude to face it
|
| |
I like the song and I like the artwork, fuck it let’s do this
|
| |
He's keeping up that every 5-year LP release streak (Does this count w a collab?)
Highly looking forward to this.
|
| |
Guaranteed to be better than Carrie but worse than Illinois
|
| |
OH MY GOOOOOOD
|
| |
"21-track new age/ambient release"
^^everybody is catching that right?
|
| |
Time to start jamming his whole discog in anticipation.
|
| |
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah
|
| |
oh, why
|
| |
Cause why not?
Also, not @Atomic, that was literally my first thought when I read this.
|
| |
C&L is one of the best records of the decade and I loved the ambient parts of it. This should be excellent.
|
| |
I must be the only C&L stan who thinks this is going to be bad. I just keep imagining Planetarium, only duller and even more lifeless.
|
| |
Nah. It is nice to be surprised though.
|
| |
Yeah don't get me wrong I'll absolutely listen to this, but my expectations are in the 2.5 realm, not the automatic 4-5 that we generally expect from him. Hope to be proven wrong. This really isn't my style of music either, so maybe I'll dislike it and it'll be even more revered than C&L. Who knows.
|
| |
Planetarium ruled so there’s another indication that this should be great.
|
| |
"Guaranteed to be better than Carrie but worse than Illinois"
uhhhhhhhhh wut
|
| |
they've been working on this record for years iirc, it's basically a compilation of their best jamming sessions together almost
my favourite thing about sufjan is that he is always changing things up and exploring new ideas, and it always works to varying degrees
hyped and track is good
|
| |
"Guaranteed to be better than Carrie but worse than Illinois"
rad take guy
|
| |
'The record is a collaborative effort with his stepfather, Lowell Brams.'
he sounds familiar
|
| |
I loved C&L, but this track was nothing but a forgettable dozer.
I get it if he wants to try to do something with his stepdad, though.
|
| |
is the collaboration that Sufjan takes his stepdad's xanax to make music for senior citizens to nod off to?
|
| |
could go either way. if they are trying to make "new age" music this single is a pretty big miss as it's pretty abrasive. ignoring that, the song kind of makes me excited to hear the album, but if they are this bad at fleshing out/finishing songs it's going to be one hell of a dud from both the "new age" AND the "ambient" angle of things.
anyways good to hear Lowell isn't dead or something i dunno
|
| |
soounds awful
|
| |
what the hell even is new age music
|
| |
"my favourite thing about sufjan is that he is always changing things up and exploring new ideas, and it always works to varying degrees" [2]
hoping suf hops on the drone train
