I didn't include 'Taurus' stream, because I couldn't find an official link, but the song is available on YouTube.

how the hell did the statute of limitations not run out on that copyright claim
| |
^thx, Satan.
| |
still thieves
| |
It took 4 fuckin years to hear two songs and decide one ain't like the other?
| |
Tbf the intro to Stairway and Taurus does sound a bit similar, but it's like a 5 second riff and Taurus is missing the cooler parts of Stairway..
| |
that’s the rate in which i listen to music these days bloc
| |
Just heard Taurus and I'm glad Zep won.
| |
wolfe clan took a hit
| |
spirit is a great band, the writer has been dead for a long time, must be his relatives trying to cash in
| |
Cool story
| |
this band lifted riffs all the time, page's playing style was obviously just copying american players. that's why they had great riffs
| |
I hear it, but it's a stretch. I would have found in favor of Led Zeppelin too.
| |
@wham49 people are doing this? Nah, must be fake news
| |
"this band lifted riffs all the time, page's playing style was obviously just copying american players. that's why they had great riffs"
There's always been some talk about Zeppelin plagiarizing other artists, but frankly I've never caught any copy paste from them. Anybody know any?
| |
They blatantly copied Greta Van Fleet man.
| |
You're right, how could I miss that? I need another espresso.
| |
They stole everything else, but that's fine
| |
Isn't there a conspiracy or something of them stealing riffs from the older blues players?
| |
It's an extremely common chromatic progression. Kinda silly to file a copyright lawsuit over it
| |
Ffs, EVERY band in the 60s-70s freely lifted from, covered, and borrowed from old blues and R&B artists and Zeppelin were no different. It was their take on those styles that was special and distinct. "Great minds borrow, brilliant minds steal"
| |
""""conspiracy"""""
All blues is is stealing.
Anyway, Led Zeppelin stole lyrics from blues musicians. It's a bit different.
| |
“There's always been some talk about Zeppelin plagiarizing other artists, but frankly I've never caught any copy paste from them. Anybody know any?”
The vocals from this are pretty blatant... so much so that they lost a lawsuit and Willie Dixon (who wrote the original version of this song) is now listed as a co-writer on “Whole Lotta Love”:

| |
Bob Dylan lifted tons of his old tunes right from the american anthology of music. like half, but I think because they are labeled "traditional" it is ok to steal it, it is pretty blatant in a lot of instances
| |
heck yeah get em boys
| |
They should have been sued over Dazed and Confused, being they literally lifted the song from another dude.
| |
yup, dazed and confused is the worst offence.
| |
Whole band is a rip off
| |
Still good tho
| |
small faces - you need loving
| |
The worst Zeppelin rip off is Whole Lotta Love compared to Small Faces’ You Need Loving. You would swear it was just a demo version of Whole Lotta Love. The Spirit song “Taurus” simply uses the same basic guitar arpeggio pattern with similar chords. Maybe it inspired Stairway but Stairway is not a rip off.
| |
I love Zeppelin, but they have ripped off some riffs here and there. This one, however, I don't think was a rip-off.
