This single art is AWFUL and looks especially corny
| |
song is not great tbh. they shouldn have self-produced again if all of Vaxis 2 is gonna sound like... this
| |
row is this good
oh fuck
| |
This is a good song. Some nice heaviness in the instrumentals, and less predictable than most of what we've heard in recent years. There are some questionable choices though, like the vox in the verses.
| |
is this the band with the crazy hair nerd
| |
How is this the same band that made In Keeping Secrets? This is so generic and meh. Reminds me of Paralyzer by Finger Eleven.
| |
would you like a name change i can suggest good new ones :[[[
this is uh
| |
Royal Blood B side.
| |
lol fr
| |
I mean Coheed will always be my favorite band because nothing can replace their first 3 albums but I haven't loved anything from them since Ascension. The Hard Sell was the beginning of the end for these guys but thankfully they still put on incredible live shows.
They need Mic Todd back.
| |
don't think they're gonna bring back the dude who held up a drugstore and got arrested at one of their shows for it lol. nor fucking should they
The Hard Sell is buns but they've had plenty of great songs since it so who cares
| |
rowna jam WATT w/ me rn this is seriousss
| |
Lol obviously they'd never bring him back. I'm just speaking that musically the 4 of them had something great but we only got 3 albums out of it. I just wish I could enjoy the entirety of their new albums instead of just picking out the songs that are pretty good and ignoring the rest. I don't need wild time signatures and all but I feel like a lot of the creativity is gone.
| |
I've been saying for a long time I'd rather have another Prize Fighter Inferno album than more CoCa stuff. Or like Claudio acoustic folk. Just not this diluted version of a once great band.
| |
Song rules! Hits harder than anything from their previous album in my opinion, this one is good fun!
| |
I can respect that, WIE. I don't know too many bands that were/are still making great music 20 years after their inception but it sucks when it's your favorite band like it is in my case. This is like a watered down diet Coheed that we've been getting since 2013.
| |
It's definitely catchy in that usual Coheed fashion, and think the visuals are fine. Though I will agree they did lose some of their creativity as well–but I would say they need more from Travis because his riffing added a lot to their older work; Josh and Zach deliver as always.
Royal Blood B side [2] I hear it now
| |
production is fine but the actual song is bad
| |
Oh god what is this production? Chorus is catchy but I'm not feeling the rest at all, and again, it sounds weird af.
| |
uh oh, i like this lol
it's probs not what you coheed nerds want but tis a good rock song
| |
song's alright, pretty piss poor idea to make it a lead single though
| |
Not a bad song tbh. But yeah, probably not what Coheed fans wanted.
| |
A sad day for Coheed Champions world wide
| |
Mina/Keith Caputo would be better suited for singing this song, but she already has a good band in Life of Agony.
| |
I wish this wasn't Coheed so we didn't all have to do this sad song and dance tip-toeing around how absolutely fucking heinous this song is. Embarrassingly bad, regardless of whatever band is responsible for...this
| |
Damn Slex, don't hold back from how you really feel.
Apparently this song is amazing if you go to the YouTube comments and Coheed subreddit.
| |
I'm always overdramatic and Coheed is one of my favorite bands so this was bound to happen eventually
| |
The fact that I thought it was a fairly strong single is emblematic of just how little I've come to expect from my once favorite band.
| |
Finally checked out the song so I can finally comment on something other than just the AWFUL art. This sucked. Honestly surprised because Vax 1 was a jam. This was annoying and corny. What the hell is he doing with the shouty vocals in the verses???
| |
Song's okay tbh
| |
Track is fine???
Their last album was the best tbf
| |
-_-
| |
this is...alright. idk, not feeling it.
| |
Kind of exhausting
| |
idk besides the verses it sounds like Coheed to me... Claudio sounds good on the chorus and bridge. sure it's a tad simple, but it's not bad. the verses aren't great though. I feel like the songwriting has been on the downslope for a long time so this type of song shouldn't be out of nowhere for these guys.
| |
UE5 ass cover too
| |
Johnny remake this news article with a good pun and then demote and permaban Raul thanks
| |
"don't think they're gonna bring back the dude who held up a drugstore and got arrested at one of their shows for it lol. nor fucking should they"
I was at the show where this happened lmao
| |
This band is poop
| |
really cool chorus, but nothing that instantly takes me away. it may grow for me. the singing is really good.
idk, the ending was cool but i wasn't super into that riff or the verse. they are great musicians just melodically this isn't my sound.
| |
Pretty by the numbers CoCa, but nothing special. I think I'm in the minority that loved Decension, but haven't been stoked about anything following that.
| |
I dug the production on this. Just a standard pop rock structure though. Hopefully there are some prog epics on this new album.
| |
Maybe I'm just a Coheed super fan but I really dug this track. I'm glad their lead single wasn't another Welcome Home clone for once. I like to think I can be impartial when it comes to them (Color Before the Sun was largely cheeks) and I've really been digging their direction with this Vaxis saga so far. Yeah, their best years are likely behind them but how many bands put out their best stuff 20 years into their career? These guys are aging pretty gracefully and still finding new little niches to hit, which is impressive in and of itself.
The central riff here is such a banger and while there are some interesting production choices (in a bad way), it's a really fun radio rock banger. Can't wait for the new album, Unheavenly Creatures ruled
| |
"I think I'm in the minority that loved Decension"
With a 3.7 Average with 983 ratings I would say you are in the majority here on Sput!
| |
This slaps and I won't hear otherwise.
| |
I miss the awesome vocal layering and backing vocals they used to do all the time. I think Mothers of Men is the last time they really did it and nothing is making these guys sound unique anymore outside of Claudio's voice. Hopefully this is the worst song on the album 'cause it's maybe a 6/10.
| |
odal i cannot believe you don't like colors before the sun it's a good album
| |
Pretty sure these guys have been mediocre af for well over a decade now and this is no exception
| |
@Gryro their last album sounded far superior to this for the most part imo
| |
Correct
| |
Lol.
| |
I hate so many of you.
Song rocks.
| |
I feel like every time a Coheed single comes out it gets utterly shit on and then their record gets good ratings lol. I’ve never understood the love for this band honestly. Only thing enjoyable for me is In Keeping
This is solidly average
| |
As someone who likes many eras of Coheed, I found this a refreshing change. The production on this slays. Their last record was quite good but I felt that eventually they'd need a shake up. Here is that left turn and it's typically strong.
| |
the lady loved the first minute of this song and said the lyric video was fun. so now her second favorite coheed song is this after the Jessies Girl 2 remake with Rick Springfield
| |
reminds me of black holes era muse
| |
#95y12q051v r we jf.awe taww
| |
I just don't really think they work as a prog band like their first two albums rule I dunno his lyrics keep getting worse not my thing obviously
| |
some of the most sterile, shameless shit i've ever heard come from these guys like wtf happened to coheed
| |
doesn't sound like claudio but i haven't heard last few albums so maybe it's what he sounds like now idk
| |
I'm scared to listen to this. I've been disappointed since Year of the Black Rainbow. So....11 years? A few bops on Ascension/Descension and their last, but on the whole they've lost their edge and calmed down a bit but I'm just not a fan of the simplification of their sound.
| |
i demand they release the album now so i don't have to worry about how bad things are about to get
| |
Just go in expecting complete dogshit. That way you'll be pleasantly surprised 🙂
| |
huh so the chorus almost sounds like Good Coheed but the verse is Very Bad Coheed so idk
| |
Jaysus... what the hell happened to them?
| |
Next from Coheed: Knees and Toes
| |
I like it. I don't love it.
| |
I don't get how the lyrics are so bad (they have been since Descension now). Claudio used to be one of my top 3 lyricists.
| |
The lyrics are a big problem for me cuz they suck emo cunt
| |
Like wtf is going on is this guy unhappy in his marriage for 5 years now or what?
| |
Starting to worry that the old albums had bad lyrics too disguised as a scifi adventure
| |
Sound like a Fall Out Boy song from the time period where they were pretending that they weren't going full pop sell out, and then they did. Next album about to be 90% synth with 7th grade band drums during the chorus.
| |
I have lived long enough to watch Coheed become crap.
Sigh.
| |
"Starting to worry that the old albums had bad lyrics too disguised as a scifi adventure"
Idk Storm, "slowly discarded were the remains of his lonely youth" and the entire intro of The Light and the Glass are pretty great lyrics to me. I always loved the imagery Claudio invoked with his words and how they were more poetic without being outright cryptic shit (looking at The Mars Volta).
| |
Also, Coheed just thanked Octane on XM/Sirius for making this song part of their adds list, which means Coheed is officially Octane-core now.
| |
"Starting to worry that the old albums had bad lyrics too disguised as a scifi adventure"
A broad incision sits across the evening
The victim to our fathers' lost war
The restless children sit and mourn the graves
Of those they've never seen before
Will they be buried here, among the dead
In the silent secret?
| |
is that an example of good or bad lyrics? i like them but it is some wank
| |
newer coheed is getting me worried the whole discography is just bad creepy lyrics that had been disguised adequately enough for me not to notice until it was too late.
| |
oh shit i already said that last month. well at least i am consistent.
| |
"they suck emo cunt"
jesus christ that is a little much tho. tho i don't remember the lyrics to this anymore so maybe it isn't too much.
| |
did you like go into a fugue state at some point
| |
song kinda fucks tbh. very riffy which i vibe with
| |
they say the word "shoulders," how hard is it to forget?
| |
well the song is terrible so pretty easy to forget
| |
Yeah I only remember not liking it
| |
It’s not Beverly Hills bad where you remember how bad it is. It’s just not at all good.
| |
