Song is the tits.
| |
It's okay, pretty standard, I did like the solo though.
| |
The singer is out of prison? What a world to live in.
| |
Song is the most AILD song ever. Not a bad thing but they need to do something new at some point. Solo was pretty massive though.
| |
This Song definitely slaps, great solo
| |
"The singer is out of prison? What a world to live in."
hide yo girlfriend
| |
no need, he's already remarried lol
| |
this rules. surprised
| |
This band still rips man, their most recent release was real solid as well.
| |
Tim lambesis has bitch tits and tried to kill his wife
| |
Will listen never.
| |
"no need, he's already remarried lol"
Good for her.
| |
They were already together before the arrest I believe. Got married a few months after he got out of prison. She is a smoke show.

Singing part isn't doing it for me. None of them are anymore
| |
Metal evolved since As I Lay Dying had their creative peak. Bunch of better artists out there
| |
Never understood why the band members relied on Tim. Wovenwar failed as the sound was too light for the AILD faithful. They could’ve recruited a 10x better vocalist and maybe would’ve been been a popular band today. Tim has always been overrated IMO.
| |
Song slaps cheeks.
| |
How do you tell apart and AILD B-side from an A-side?
| |
Whats on the album and what isn't. Zing!
| |
"Never understood why the band members relied on Tim."
He contributes a lot to the writing from what I've heard.
| |
Lol, more like 100% of the first three albums
| |
First album he wrote recorded and produced everything by himself.
| |
Song would be so much cooler if their annoying ass clean vocalist didnt have to chirp in with his extremely boring and generic choruses
Like bruh this shit riffs so hard and the solo is awesome and Tims bitchass sounds deranged and feral on it, imagine thinking "Yo...I gotta sing over this. The songs great but its missing a weak ass hook"
| |
Holy fuck the old and still current sputnik bio for as i lay dying is fucking ironic 😅😅😅
| |
"Lol, more like 100% of the first three albums"
Well there you go.
| |
Nick or the other guy used to get in trouble for offering to write riffs in the studio. Can't remember which.
| |

mf still thinks it's 2004, nobody's checking for clean vocals like that anymore
| |
I listened only because of the cleans being criticized so much but literally every As I Lay Dying song has had the same cleans since Shadows Are Security (in 2004 haha) and you all choose now to go wtf? Lololol
| |
well you are not wrong
| |
As I Lay Dying on facebook only follow one other person and it of course is Tim 🤣
| |
Their commitment to Josh doing chorus vocals is something
| |
I always assumed that was the real reason people hated the Awakened album. The production and songwriting really emphasized and relied on the clean vocals more than any other AILD album.
| |
"but literally every As I Lay Dying song has had the same cleans since Shadows Are Security (in 2004 haha) and you all choose now to go wtf? Lololol"
Their old clean vocalist was better and in 2004 his cleans sounded great and he gave some pretty memorable hooks
It is now 20 fuckin 21 and the other guy is not doing anything cool or memorable with his hooks. Thats why we're complaining.
| |
Its the same guy right?
| |
Oh no changed in 2006
| |
The funny part is in 2021 people wanting/expecting AILD to do anything different.
| |
I can see why this was a bside
| |
No kidding, who was the old singer?
| |
Clint Norris. He was only in As I Lay Dying. Left in 2006 to focus on, ahem, his marriage. Lol this band.
| |
Clint Norris is a fucking chad name
| |
Rules.
| |
Idk I liked the clean singing in an ocean between us and even some of the one after that with anodyne sea but yeah last few years i find the singing parts boring
| |
good book
| |
Big Arch Enemy vibes. Love it.
| |
They will never top Defender tho. That chorus is a fucking monster.
| |
Band reached their song writing peak with Upside Down Kingdom and Blinding of False Light imo
| |
Will listen never [2]
| |
no idea why the cleans are being slagged off. Song was good and better than that actual album
| |
'The funny part is in 2021 people wanting/expecting AILD to do anything different.'
This.
| |
The chorus is better than a lot of the typical AILD choruses. At least there's an actual melody and it's not just a 2-3 notes hook.
| |
Sounds like every other thrashgroovedeath band on the planet
| |
song is sexy af. I need more of this
Seriously how is this a Bside? This is literally the best song i've ever heard from these guys. Cleans are gorgeous, the production is tight, and Tim sounds like the brutal demon he is
| |
It sounded to me that this song in it's earlier incarnation was a b-side, but they re-worked it to bring it up to the quality some of you are saying it's at.
| |
Clint was SO much better than Josh imo. I was really bummed when he left, part for his stage presence and part for his smooth as fuck singing. To be fair, tons of other metalcore bands came around and had their own version of Clint, so he doesn't sound particularly unique anymore. But at the time, dude was killer, and they didn't overuse him.
| |
Clint was the clean singer on Shadows Are Security, yeah? I like Josh but I do agree that Clint was better.
| |
Also agree.
| |
IIRC he was on Frail Worlds Collapse as well, but can't be assed to look it up.
| |
Ass yourself please
| |
Clint was better but Josh is aight
| |
There are some real hipsters in this thread when we're lauding a past vocalist on a 18 year old record.
