Primus get Conspiranoid

2022-04-05 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 19 Comments
Veteran US rockers Primus will be releasing a three-song EP, titled Conspiranoid, on April 22nd via ATO Records. The 11-minute track 'Conspiranoia' can be heard below.

Frontman Les Claypool said to Consequence: " 'Conspiranoia' was sprouted from a seed I had planted in my notebook a year or so ago — a few lines commenting on the mental state of the contemporary world. I watched the distrust and divide grow between friends, colleagues, relatives, and the general population because of the consumption and digesting of disinformation, misinformation, warped information, and flat-out fairy tales being perpetuated by anyone with a slight hint of web design aptitude. "

Tracklist:
1. Conspiranoia
2. Follow The Fool
3. Erin On The Side Of Caution

Sweet mellow jam, and just when I started listening to Primus regularly again. They've been consistently more psychedelic-sounding in the recent years, but I'm not complaining.

I always have time for a new Primus song or EP. More than that, it became seriously dangerous, especially if i´m handling heavy machinary.

I am flabbergasted by the stupidity and the arrogance of Conspiranoia's lyrics.

In 2022, calling people stupid for believing in a few conspiracy theories, after everything that's happened in the last few years, is really cruel and self-deluded.
It's normal that people have lost trust and look for the truth where they can. And it's normal that fear my have made them believe things that are wrong and do ridiculous things. Our times are difficult and more than ever we need to show compassion towards the people who we believe are "fools", to put ourselves in question and expect those who disagree with us to have compassion towards us.

Claypool is all cool pointing his finger at what brought distrust and divide... then proceeds to inspire distrust and divide, and arrogance in those who desperately want to think they are always right to think they're always right.

Great bass line, the guitar soloing was a bit excessive. The song in general was too long.

Honestly the lyrics were fine. It’s not like Claypool is meant to be some political voice of reason. It’s funny and goofs on the crazier shit certain people take seriously like Jewish space lasers or “this person isn’t really dead” claims. Song didn’t say “trust Fauci blindly,” it said “your random homeopathic cure you read on someone’s blog isn’t going to be the cure” which is a common conspiracy people enjoy idk

I’ll give it a 3.5/5. Maybe the best they sounded since before that terrible Chocolate Factory album

Can't remember a time someone didn't lose me with something like "Tony Fauci". Usually intelligent people use facts to express their disdain, not lame name changes.

Lyrics aside this is a good Primus song, its chill but also weird. Do miss their heavier sound though.
