Sounds like Polyphia
| |
so, boring?
| |
I read somewhere that Wes Hauch from Alluvial worked on this. I would never have guessed that just by listening to the track. A bit dull...
| |
Compositionally it sounds like Polyphia, but the negative implication you've made is baseless in my opinion.
| |
Love the track! Great production, really nice flow. The 'reverse Dylan' is a good look for them.
| |
zoomer rodrigo y gabriela
| |
This is amazing.
| |
If you find this boring I feel bad for you
| |
song owns
| |
Proper anime villain hair on Tim here
| |
sounds like a hipster gypsy kings
| |
Polyphia with the tippity tappity sounds as in every Polyphia song ever. Don't get any emotional connection out of this, but for some ppl it's good fortnite-core i guess.
| |
Not interesting to me, but that's ok.
| |
glad they're still so pliffy
| |
dope song
| |
sounds very piezo-y, not a great sound IMO. Very talented dudes for sure, but not really a fan. I liked some songs off that one album with Champagne though
| |
Electronic drum beats but a regular drum set in the video… yeah okay.
| |
Loving the 7th chords and all them licks but yeah...
| |
I like Polyphia. It instantly opens reminding you of who they are with all the technical wizardry that accompanies that. the second half when the synths and early 00s Nintendo music influence kicks in is absolutely the best part though.
| |
not a fan of that drum sound
| |
LOL saw that Tim was hanging out with Peter Thiel bagman and Epstein's buddy Eric Weinstein recently. Fucking sucksssss

| |
Also LMFAO at the drummer looking exactly like Tim Lambesis
| |
The most okay song ever.
| |
so meh lol
| |
I found it a bit dull
| |
Dug it.
“Proper anime villain hair on Tim here” - lol yeah I thought he looked like Noctis from final fantasy lmao
I also thought the drums were weird and him playing an acoustic set with clearly not real drum sounds was weird
| |
How in fuck's name are there guitar covers of this song on Youtube already lol
| |
How do you learn this sexy guitar vomit so quickly
| |
“How in fuck's name are there guitar covers of this song on Youtube already lol”
I saw it, indeed crazy, but it wasn't really particularly great, it was just that he followed it down. And of course the editing has been made it less difficult
| |
"I liked some songs off that one album with Champagne though"
Muse (not the diminishing career band Muse) is fucking amazing
| |
If you’ve heard one song by this band you’ve heard every single one of them
| |
"If you’ve heard one song by this band you’ve heard every single one of them"
favorite bands: Botch, Drudkh, Converge
bands that have the exact same sound every album
| |
band does nothing for me
| |
"If you’ve heard one song by this band you’ve heard every single one of them"
Renaissance and NLND have nothing in common but whatev
| |
i dig polyphia but don't get why this couldn't be on electric? just sounds like pick attack and piezo scrapes this way. Chon got it right with their clean stuff, maybe Polyphia just wanted to make some space between them? bet they play this electric live and it rules
| |
"I saw it, indeed crazy, but it wasn't really particularly great, it was just that he followed it down. And of course the editing has been made it less difficult"
Good point. I didn't watch the whole thing until just now, but there are several cuts in it. Not to mention the camera is situated so you can't see if the guitar is plugged in or not.
Typical ingredients of a modern, technical guitar cover these days...
| |
"i dig polyphia but don't get why this couldn't be on electric? just sounds like pick attack and piezo scrapes this way."
Could be their deal with Ibanez. Not sure if those are new acoustic guitar models but the guitarists probably got some kind of incentive from Ibanez to "showcase" them. Hell, even if they aren't new models they might not be selling well so that's another reason to showcase them lol
| |
Their newer material is a lot better. Very cool band
| |
I like some of their stuff, but this did absolutely nothing for me
| |
'Don't get any emotional connection out of this'
yeah it soulless wank
| |
as is all their music
| |
I be missing the old Polyphia sound (Muse Renaissance) a lil bit but I still fuck with this heavy
| |
mind-blowing flamenco-style nylon string playing. When I said "this is dull", I listened to it dozens of times afterwards.
| |
This is really promising
"Their newer material is a lot better. Very cool band" +1
| |
Man the hate in the comments is lol. These dudes are cooler than you will ever be shut the fuck up
| |
It’s okay to not like something
| |
opinions indeed exist, fun fact
| |
'These dudes are cooler than you will ever be shut the fuck up'
rofl
| |
Some cool licks. Those are some weird sounding drums
| |
Weirdly I’ve never checked these guys before, I like this.
| |
New single is weak but…. Tiddies
| |
man I was promised tiddies

| |
lmao
| |
agree the single sounds a bit filler
| |
At 2:13 they change the drum mix for about 7 seconds and the kick drum sounds a bazillion times better. At 2:20 they switch back to the dull kickdrum. I get why they did that but id rather a steady mix with the nicer drumsound
| |
I'm okay with the drumming in this song. The new single isn't as good as this one.
| |
Nah the drum sound is bullshit in the whole song except for the 7 seconds between 2:13 and 2:20
| |
If i was the drummer id be offended the other 2 guys want the drums to sound so dull and lifeless. I like the composition, its just thag god awful mix on those drums. Everything good about the sound of a drumkit has been stripped away
| |
they made a drum playthru on youtube and I thought would still be average if it was a real drum set. I don't think the electronic drums here are particularly good or bad, just passable.
edit: I assume you are talking about wanting a sound of real drums, not electronic ones.
| |
if kill was still alive and saw you guys calling this prog im pretty sure he would have a heart attack
| |
coo m/
| |
@notagenius It sounds to me like a lot of EQ used to cut the life out of a drum recording. Also with the use of sample drum replacements. I could be wrong and maybe the whole thing is electronic and sampled, in which case theyve chosen the worst kick in the world and the snare sounds like a stick hitting a broken plastic jewel cd case. Either way it sounds about as hollow and lifeless as a drumkit can sound, except for the aforementioned 7 second period in the middle of the song
| |
I don't know, I always thought it was electronic drums and that drum in the video was a total poser act. no idea.
| |
Im being unfair and very harsh, its just clear this guy can play drums well and they keep ruining it
| |
He is very good indeed. He's an absolutely brilliant drummer. It's just the role of the drummer in this group is to leave the space out.
| |
First Time hearing anything from this band but I can definitely dig this
| |
drummers a friggin metronome man
used to highly dislike Polyphia but im kind of coming around to it???
| |
is he? word on the street is he needs a backing track with metronome to stay in time
| |
band is noodley at best, listen to Cynic
| |
nah cynic sucks ill stick with polyphia
stop being square old man!
| |
Kinda need vocals to be in Cynic's ballpark. This is awesome but i'll always look at this as a 'piece' and not a 'song'
