Love each of their albums. Fingers crossed for this one, liking what I hear so far.

"It is also a warning that the world we live in is changing from the damage we as a species have contributed to"
Oh great. Well progress has a cost.
Wonder what the environmental impact of traveling to Nashville from Australia to record this album has, and touring in general. HMMMM

Another NEO epic. Great emotion in the song and simple yet powerful video to match.

@WretchedCocophony. Jesus man did an environmentalist bang your missus or what?
|
| |
Lmao I didn't even know Dan had left
|
| |
Great track, and definitely worth the wait.
|
| |
Getting the Citadel vibes from this one, great song.
|
| |
Ah yes, you use planes to go places sometimes so you can't speak about impending climate disaster. I am very smart.

@WretchedCacophony you're joking right? facetiously playing the role of inept climate change denier?
|
| |
Ne(w) obliviscaris song should've been the title.
|
| |
I miss their previous bassist but this is still an exceptionally strong release. Liking how this is shaping up
|
| |
The second half of this song is absolutely amazing. These guys know how to make music. Love them.
|
| |
I haven’t been this hyped for a release in some time. Can’t fucking wait
|
| |
Sweet lord this is fine af
Prolly better than anything from Urn imo
|
| |
one of the worst bands of all time

"tastepolice"

“tastypolice”
“longpork”
“streetbacon”
|
| |
Feeling like this band can’t write riffs the way they used to and instead focus more so on screeching violins and harmonies. That’s ok I guess. I’m perfectly fine with their first 2 records.
|
| |
Despite the awesome production and sweet bass lines this seemed quite repetitive and boring. Maybe it will grow on me
|
| |
agreed anus, felt incredibly violin heavy and clean vocal heavy on this one, still amazing
|
| |
Completely forgot about the existence of Urn until the comments here.
Guess that's what happens when you try to follow up Citadel.
|
| |
@0Guy yeah Urn was still really good but they set the bar too high with their first two releases. Something tells me they're never going to reach those heights again but still excited for this (haven't listened yet).

"you say that society has problems, yet you yourself participate in society. curious!"-type vibes
|
| |
Song is pretty good. Doesn't seem like they've matured much songwriting-wise. Xen still sounds awesome.
|
| |
yeah this is good but a bit too similar to what we've already heard from them
|
| |
This band is technically solid but they are kind of a one trick pony. A lot of songs with the same tempo and ideas
|
| |
They blew their entire load on Portal and Citadel, both of those albums are mind-blowing, but I was the last person that wanted to admit that they were pretty much already out of ideas after that.
|
| |
Yeah people have definitely never criticized slayer for running out of ideas ever lmao
|
| |
“This band is technically solid but they are kind of a one trick pony. A lot of songs with the same tempo and ideas”
This. This is what I was feeling and couldn’t say lol
|
| |
If they never top Portal of I, I wouldn’t be mad with it. That songwriting is so intricate yet so goddam beautiful. I don’t expect to love my child as much as I love that album
|
| |
Sure they're formulaic to an extent, but as long as you enjoy the fundamentals of their sound (similar case with a band like Meshuggah), it's not a big deal. Definitely not heading into the new album expecting that they'll top their first two albums, but I'm fine with that as long as it's solid.
|
| |
The bass work on this is so damn good
|
| |
Yeah the bass work is all that keeps me engaged
|
| |
I love how high the bass is in the mix. Glad that they found a bass player who can still jam, but doesn’t beat his grandmother
|
| |
"You can only talk about environmental issues if you live in the woods, eat berries that fall off the trees and wear rags you found in a dumpster" lmaooo
Song is dope, I agree with the Citadel vibes
|
| |
Ngl most of the band's appeal for me has always been the violin. His playing on the first two albums was absolutely insane, and this felt much more subdued by comparison. I hope he goes berserk and lets loose on the other tracks.
