I adore Wilson personally, but Economies of Scale felt initially a little shaky - although it can fall into place perfectly within the context of the album, it was almost Thom Yorke -ish with the bleeps and the bloops. Which is not a bad thing. Remains to be seen how the final album feels, Hand Cannot Erase is unironically one of the best albums of the decade.

Wish this had more of a foreground melody at some place or another

That was pretty beautiful. Computationally it may one of the best things i've heard from Wilson. Very groovy with great production and atmosphere. Kinda lacking a topline in a couple of spots though. Looking forward to this album :D

Both songs are pretty great tbh, Steven will always be a divisive figure no matter what he does

With C/C by PT I really didn't care for more stuff from Wilson. But Economy of Scale brought back some of my excitement

It never really botbered me until recently, but Wilson doesn't seem to have any humor in him. So when he isn't doing sad boi stuff his very selfserious material just turns me off. Don't know why I was immune to that before. Maybe because the music was better?

funnily enough I found him rather self-deprecating on stage

Maybe seeing him live will change things a bit. Interviews and his lyrics and general optics make him seem rather humorless though

Yeah, he is self deprecating in that classic English humour style on stage, still, he has a great grasp at how the music business works. Maybe this is why he sounds a bit clinical when he talks in an interview.
