this is not nu metal nor does it sound anything like nu LP
this could have come straight off one of those latest Underoath albums, tho. no bueno
| |
lol this band
| |
painfully dErivATive
| |
This isn't remotely nu-metal
| |
I dug it
| |
Definitely see what they mean by Nu metal adjacent/influenced. I can't describe it adequately, but it does have some elements for sure.
Not a bad song either
| |
Sucks hard
| |
So are they done releasing albums or EP's and just doing singles now or what?
| |
^ they were gonna have a new release this year, but postponed it to keep working on it.
I’ve been curious about the streaming singles thing and google brought me to this Reddit comment (among others):
“ Didn't Memphis May Fire mention something about releasing a ton of singles as it's really the only way to stay relevant streaming wise? They put out like nine singles for Remade in Misery, but that makes sense with the point brought up. It keeps said artist in rotation by streaming algorithms. Release 10 new songs at once and the algorithm will mix in a couple of them after release; but release one song a month for ten months and it'll put every song in rotation, as it's gonna promote each new release”

Don't give a fuck till my heart stops beatin'
more like
Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm bleedin'

that autotuned chorus sucks.
| |
lmao I was so lowkey annoyed when my roomate, who is my age, not a baby, asked non-sarcastically, "Who even listens to albums anymore?"
uh, I don't know, THE WHOLE WORLD EXCEPT FOR TOP-40 AND RAP ENJOYERS?
| |
oh nooo BMTH released a shit song. who'd thought :O
| |

Unfortunately we are all in the minority predominantly listening to full albums. The move from CDs to MP3s started a seismic shift in how people listen to music thats only gotten bigger with streaming.

@MoM I have read similar things. Artists should be moving to shorter tracks too since the pay is by stream. Sad stuff when the business model drives artistic decisions, but the system we are operating in yall.
| |
I like it lol
| |
Why does this show up in my discussions? I never commented on this.
| |
@Feather
That’s already happening too. Just took a quick look at Spotify’s All New Rock playlist and most of the songs so far have been under 3 minutes
| |
Band should be doing more hyperpop kinda stuff instead of this tired crap
| |
@MoM not surprised.
Ragging on a favorite band of mine here but whatever: AFIs last album rollout had 7 of the songs released as singles over like a 8 month period and all 11 tracks feel kinda half baked partly because over half of them are sub 3 minutes.
| |
oli's screams are nice but everything else sucks
| |
Let's be honest here, was this band ever really GOOD? Sure they had some good songs on Sempiternal but it was an average album overall.
| |
Let's be honest here, was one of the biggest most popular bands in the scene ever really GOOD?
| |
Yes and they still are
| |
Eh. They are always hit and miss. Kudos for them trying new formulas, even though they fall short more often than not. Post Human was a hell of a fun ride though, wish they'd continue that style.
| |
they were pretty good during the There's A Hell and Sempiternal era
| |
I really enjoyed that song, actually my favorite of the new EP's songs. I'm not a fan of how eDgY they're trying to be with this release, though. Or rather, I'm not a fan of their new brand of edginess (because they've always been super edgy.)
| |
I think these guys rule and are making some of the best accessible hard music out there.
| |
they do still have strong singles (not this one).
| |
damn i wish skillet still sounded like this
| |
lmao
| |
Decent
| |
I hate this....its both shit and weirdly good. Why do i kind of like this. I am conflicted between my hatred of Sykes vocals and the fact this is catchy and kind of fun and catchy
| |
Sounds like garbage but it slaps so idc

I wish it sounded like Garbage
| |
To be fair, song lengths being shortened dates back to the early days of vinyl and radio play too. IT went out the window with CD's but bands are definitely swinging back to the 3 minute slabs made for easy consumption.
| |
these dudes and sleep token just announced an Aussie tour. LOL what a shitshow
| |
Didn’t dig this one.
| |

This band are the equivalent of musical Red Bull. Tastes like total ass but I cant stop drinking it
| |
Red Bull tastes good though! It’s not crazy sweet like some of the others.
| |
This sounds whatever
