97 playing in the beginning put a big smile on my face

Cool that Skiba filled in for Tom, but I think the music worls is best served with Matt writing songs for Alkaline Trio and tom for blink.
| |
The opening riff reminded me of Into The Night. Average Alkaline Trio, but their average has always been a pretty good one.
| |
i liked this
| |
sweet
| |
i'm almost afraid to press play. what if my high school heroes have ALL gone berserk and ruined their legacies? is it not better to let one shining band lie?
| |
Has hints of classic Trio. Can't wait for this album
| |
this sounds to me like throw me to the lions meets torture doctor meets all on black. the shape of its melody particularly reminds me of all on black which is only a good thing. its great
this song alone has more hooks than the entire new menzingers album
| |
yooooo this is pretty good.
| |
Damn I fucking listen to everything up to Crimson pretty religiously, they never released new material that I thought was downright bad at any point, but nothing has really resonated with me as much as that stuff from my youth. This is pretty tight and I definitely loved that 97 opening as well, that's prob in my top 5 Alk3 songs. But yeah overall this is solid but still doesn't really capture the old magic for me, a tiny bit overproduced and I miss the rasp in Skiba's voice idk where that went. I'll still give this release a listen though for sure, it's wack as fuck that Green Day has been pushing out dogshit for years and years and are still super popular and the kids love them and these guys get no fuckin love when they've always been pretty legit.
| |
maybe its because it dropped when i was in high school when they were my favorite band and all that, but i honestly think is this thing cursed is better than a lot of their classic albums even. easy top 3 trio for me
and yeah matts rasp has been long gone ever since his throat surgery between good mourning and crimson. dudes voice was so fucked at the time good mourning was apparently ridiculously painful to record
| |
Do people like new Green day or is everything purely nostalgic based now?? Surely no one actually sat down and said - mother of all mother fuckers is amazing.
| |
Yeah I mean he's been doing this for a very fucking long time and I'm glad he didn't rip his chords to shreds and quit forever but damn he sounded so awesome on those records.
| |
idk Green Day has had a HUGE resurgence with GenZ and from what I've seen they all eat up all the new shit. I mean *somebody* has to be buying it. I will say, they've never been a top5 band for me but I saw them on the American Idiot tour with MCR opening and it was most definitely a top5 lifetime concert experience for me, I'm so glad I got to see them right at that point, they played such a long setlist of so much material from Dookie to AI and it was an insanely good performance. So at least they have some kinda legacy I guess but damn they should've quit so many years ago and Billy Joe from everything I've seen comes across like he never matured past 15 and is a bit of a dick.
| |
green day sux alk3 dece mcr great -- this concludes the emo girl opinion hour, up the punx
| |
onion you were the first person i talked to on this site because cursed was a pretty good record ! fond memoriez
| |
absolute shame that green day's last 15 years have gone the way they have. i liked revolution radio when it came out but its aged pretty badly, and is also really the only thing even close to good theyve put out since the turn of the 2010s. they were the band i learned guitar off of and were the singular coolest band to me when i was 12 and father of all particularly stomped my goodwill into the ground
@madrigal oh lol no way that rules. good times
| |
Genuinely haven't bothered with a single thing they've released since 21st Century Breakdown, I heard like 2 singles off of that and they were such complete dogshit, it's actually wild how much better music they were composing when they were teenagers compared to that shit. Miss a good Mike Dirnt bass line from the early days.
| |
You know, I tend to like the more "serious" Trio output, but it's cool they made a fun video like this. Song is pretty good, doesn't blow me away but its not without it's charm.
I'm excited to hear the other songs, especially interested to hear Derek's last performance with the band. He's one of my favorite drummers ever.
| |
Praise be that Alkaline Trio don’t suck. Good shit
| |
also Skiba lyrics have been goated for all of time, holy goddamn shit what an underrated writer.
| |
Is this thing cursed ruled and this is no different. Hype
| |
It’s also actually funny to me how much better he is in Alk than he ever was in blink
| |
^ blink is cursed
| |
My Shame Is True is pure goodness. This is kinda mid.
| |
Most importantly they'll be supported by Drug Church on this tour, so that's your reason to go
| |
Wow Matt and Dan looked completely different to when I saw them 18 months ago!
Decent track, could be a mid song of ITTC? which works for me because that album ruled and honestly might be my favourite of theirs
Looking forward to more!!
| |
this was ait
ITTC? is amazing yeah
| |
I really fuck with this. That chorus is nice.
| |
Great tune!
| |
I think this sounds good, but usually it’s Alkaline Trios singles that I find more forgettable. Every single track that I adore from their last LP was a non-single
| |
Cool. I was actually thinking of listening to the S/T compilation as I walked to work today. That was a catchy fun song.
| |
this song kicks ass
| |
have a soft spot for AK3.
| |
Not bad at all
| |
this is basically just The Torture Doctor with a better chorus but that's ok bc I've always wanted to hear The Torture Doctor with a better chorus
| |
I kinda like this song a lot, but are my speakers bad or is this song mixed in a weird, muddy way?
| |
blood hair and balls
| |
Chorus is so damn catchy
| |
Their lead singles tend to suck but this wasn't half bad. I expect the full album to be great though.
| |
oh wow i did not realize how muffled this track was until i put it through my headphones lol
| |
The recording quality is so awful I can't even listen to it. Whoever produces their songs should be fired. I love the band. Listened to their older albums until I couldn't anymore, but this is an absolute joke. How does a band this good have someone Mix/Produce it this frickin awful? They should be utterly embarrassed and find a new line of work. Anyone with a nice set of speakers/headphones should know exactly what I'm talking about. I literally made an account because it's so infuriating. MAKE IT SOUND LIKE IT WASNT RECORDED IN THE 40s.
| |
Damn. This is very fucking good. Maybe I should finally check out some of their albums.
| |
Anyone notice that this and the new Green Day’s videos both have zombies?
| |
Just listen to Goddammit through Crimson, shit doesn't miss.
| |
cursed is also an essential and mandatory jamming for this band
| |
The last LP was great (some great songs and solid production IMO), but yeah, this song is definitely mixed, mastered, or recorded poorly in some way that an audio guy would have to explain to me. But it's weird because this song was produced and mixed by the same guy as the last LP, but the engineer is a different guy that's never worked with the band before (as far as I can tell). Has credits with Bayside, Silversun Pickups, Killing Joke. But it's also not noted anywhere who mastered the album.
| |
Gonna start checking them out today.
