For anyone that doesn't know STP, they are:

Scott Weiland- Vocals
Rob DeLeo- Bass
Dean DeLeo- Guitars
Eric Kretz- Drums

The tracks:

1. Meat Plow- Starts with a heavy riff. Good opening track. The chorus is catchy to this song. "They got these pictures of everything- to break us down, yea to break us down. They make us hate and we make it bleed. But I got a lover and yeah she shows me how, to understand, yea to understand. I got a brother and well he shows me how, to make amends, yeah to make amends with it." First part of the song is catchy too: "Fine place for a day full of breakdowns- takes more than a meltdown to show us how." 4/5

2. Vasoline- Rob starts the song with an up-tempo, heavy riff that fades in and follows-up with a great heavy riff after. Nice follow up from Meat Plow. The line "Flys in the vasoline we are, sometimes it blows my mind" will get stuck in your head and it's true. Short song, but great. Also, good percussion from Eric. 4.5/5

3. Lounge Fly- The weakest song on the album overall. Eric gives us some good percussion, and Rob gives us a heavy riff to boot, but the lyrics are the same. Just 3 or 4 minutes of the same line. The whole song is sung after the first 90 seconds. Nice acoustic guitar near the end, thanks again to Rob, however it is not enough to save this song. 2.5/5

4. Interstate Love Song- This song starts off with a mellow, sort of Southern(but not really;it sort of is) riff and lead into a heavy riff. The song is catchy, and the first verse of the chorus will really get stuck in your head: "Leavin' on a Southern train only yesterday, you lie." Strong vocals from Scott. Truly an STP classic. 5/5

5. Still Remains- A great follow up from Interstate Love Song. Starts with a heavy, but slow and mellow riff. Strong vocals from Scott, kinda humorous. Sounds like an anthem for what a nerd who can't get the hot chick would do for love. The lyrics "Oh, I'd beg for you, oh you'd know I'd beg for you." Chorus is catchy too. 5/5

6. Pretty Penny- Totally acoustic track. STP(all the guys) provide the percussion in this track. Good opening. As Scott says in the song about Pretty Penny "She was loved and we all will miss her." One of STP's all time best. 5/5

7.Silver Gun Superman- The best song in my opinion on this album. Scott and Rob provide us with an excellent guitar. It shows the dark side of STP. The lyrics "I can hear when the pig whispers sweetly, jealousy is the weapon you kill me" will be as I've said for most of the review, will be stuck in your head. Strong lyrics and vocals from Scott, and an awesome drum ending provided by Dean. 5/5

8. Big Empty- Eric gives us percussion in this song one more time. Starts with a slow, Southern type guitar. To really like this song, you'd probably have to be depressed or stoned. It's real when Scott says "Conversations kill." They do. Heavy riff kicks in before the chorus. Great stuff. 5/5

9. Unglued- Starts with a heavy, up tempo riff. The chorus is catchy and Scott sings kinda fast to keep up with the song. Funny when he says"Moderation is masterbation" and 'This confusion is my illusion" 3.5/5 (rest of Unglued)

10. Army Ants- Starts with a mellotron followed by a heavy, up tempo riff. The first words of the song are catchy"You don't look but you kick me, you can't feel, but you hit me, you can't deal with they way I pray!" and "Fall in those single file lines like army ants". Mellotron returns followed by the same up-tempo, heavy riff like it was the beginning. 4/5

11. Kitchen Ware & Candy Bars- Good acoustic opening. The lyric that stands out is "Sell me down the river". Slow, electric, heavy, mellow riff before chorus like in Big Empty and Sour Girl( from No.4). Weird ending, but very humorous. Sounds like stuff from the '50s. 5/5

Overall, I like the guitar and drum ending in Silver Gun Superman, the improvement of vocals, and the mix of acoustic and electric guitars in Kitchen Ware & Candy Bars, but with the lack of guitar solos, no instrumentals, and song repetition contained in Lounge Fly, this album should have a lower rating than what I give it, but I must give this album a 5.

Well that's it. My review is finally done. Enjoy. Now I'm off to get more STP cds.(like Shangri-La-Dee-Da and No.4)

Nice review man. I think the first half of the album is a little stronger, the first two songs are great and Still Remains is essentially a power ballad dressed a little differently. This one and Tiny Music I can listen to more than their other records.

This is an awesome album.

Nice first review. Next time try to put more detail in your review, and a short, informative introduction is a great way to start.

Gotcha. I should've wrote an intro, but I pretty much had nothing to say about it, you know? No background details. But for Shangri and No.4, I do have some sort of background for it. Reviews about 'em coming soon.
