Amber Pacific’s second full length effort Truth In Sincerity (Hopeless Records) is packed full of pop punk goodness and blistering guitar lines.
The sound of Truth in Sincerity is much like their previous release The Possibility And The Promise, though by listening to the songs off Truth In Sincerity you can hear changes in the way they play their instruments. Drummer Dango is on fire from the very start with Summer (In B) being one of the best drumming tracks on the album and Will Nutter’s guitar work is amazing, particularly in Runaway and Dear ____, This Has Always Been About Standing Up For Yourself.
Matt Young has done himself good on Truth In Sincerity with Catchy, Emotion packed lyrics about love and heart break. His vocals are strong and fierce with a voice that makes you believe that what he is saying he means and comes from the heart.
On the track Runaway, Mike Herrera from Mxpx features on the vocals which sounds surprisingly a bit like an Mxpx song. Mike Herrera’s vocals make this a standout track from the rest of the album as his voice fits perfectly into the song.
Temporary is a two and a half minute blast propelled by a steady swing beat with a traditional pop punk change of key at the end of the song.
The song You're Only Young Once sounds a lot like another song during the intro and continues to have aspects that sound similar to other songs already written.
Another stand out song on the album is Take Me From This Place where he is questioning if he has lost everything he cares about, which is a girl. Though the lyrics aren’t particularly great during the verses, the chorus makes up for it and the way the song flows into the breakdown with the vocals stretching into the guitar and orchestra that sounds like something from some sort of epic movie is superb.
A part of the album that engulfs me is where in Dear ____, This Has Always Been About Standing Up For Yourself…the song seems to end and comes in with palm muted guitar which flows in a guitar driven breakdown which sounds amazing then into quiet acoustic guitar with the most meaningful lyrics on the whole album and then back into the same guitar and orchestra in Take me From This place with a guitar solo over top making it one of the finest things you will hear.
Remembering the song names for the songs on the CD is quiet hard as they are long and the songs sound quiet similar to each other.
Truth In Sincerity is a must have for any pop punk or Amber Pacific fan.
