Review Summary: It's.....actually.....not....bad!

Before Fred Durst morphed into a giant vagina, Limp Bizkit was virtually unknown. Fred was desperate to get the band rollin' so he got Korn to pass their demo to Ross Robinson and the next thing you know their debut album "Three Dolla Bill Y'all" was recorded in 3 days and released. "Three Dolla Bill Y'all" holds closer to metal then any of their other releases. Mostly to the STELLAR work of Wes Borland. From 4 to 7 string guitars, he does it all. Fred actually does a decent job of rapping but he mostly screams on this record and the bass and drum section changes between funk, jazz, rap, and metal. Even DJ Lethal adds a creepy sound here and there. Like I said, this album is actually good. From the rap filled "Stuck" to the heavy scream driven "Leech" there is something for everyone. The album even ends with one long jam session in "Everything." Most songs are filled with interesting riffs, funky bass lines, rap beats, and Fred's rapping/screaming. Lyrically this is your typical nu-metal album, nothing special, which is kind of a downer I guess. But all in all, for 1997, this album was actually a new concept. And had a whole "fresh" feel to it. Now, Fred Durst isn't dumb, he knew he couldn't sell lots of records with this sound, so he decided to go for a more MTV friendly sound later on, but this album is raw, heavy, and genre busting. If you only know LB for "Nookie" or "Rollin'" then you're missing out on one of the best rapcore/nu-metal albums of the 90s.

SatelliteYears (4)
A raw, energetic performance by Limp Bizkit at their best. May not have the commercial appeal of SO ...

Unitcircle (4)
An unpolished, edgy look of one of the late 90s most polarizing bands....

DirEnRefused (2.5)
An overly revisionised album which isn't horrible, it's just mediocre....

Excellent and heavy album? Check!...

Review is as short as Gary Coleman but it still gets the point across somehow

Thanks for all the good feedback. This was probably my favorite album from when I was 10 till I was 12. I just dug this up and was like "whoa, my childhood."

@Counterfeit

I wasn't trying to do a track-by-track review. I was mainly trying to get the point across that the album spans many genres and gets bad rap even though it's kinda good.

Yeah but dude. Gotta say something about Everything. Such an awesome song unlike anything else on the album. It's like GY!BE, but better.

But it is just a jam session...Kind of an unconventional way to end an album.

But I guess self releasing a sex tape of yourself when your celebrity status is down to 0 is unconventional too.

Understand I guess, to each their own I supposed. But that was literally recorded on the spot, not even meant to be on the album, just sayin. BUT WHATEVER.

Also, as I dissect this review more.

If you only know LB for "Nookie"

That's their best song mang, combines everything that is LB into a smash single.

I edited it. Added.

Well most people only know LB for that song. I didn't say it was bad, just that not a lot of people have heard this album pass "Faith."

It's by far the most creative LB record, and the most enjoyable.
