Review Summary: A well crafted album full of technical instruments and good production, its a true sign that the band is progressing in all the right directions but somehow you get the feeling they are just not quite there yet. My first review so excuse me if it lacks something.
Enter the discovery. The latest and third album from Born of Osiris,or BOO.A sure sign of them moving forward. The guitar pieces are tighter, the production quality overall is much better than their previous outings and still heavy as ever. After all the criticism that came with "a higher place" they managed to bounce back by being simply brilliant.Previously being accused of being a "generic Meshugga" rip off,BOO answer the critics with the discovery, showing everyone that they completely have their own sound. The shredding leading guitars with the heavy polyrythmic chugging breakdowns, actually audible bass and interesting keys seems to have done the trick. The guitar bit at around 0:38 seconds in "recreate" really shows you what Lee Mckinney is capable of.Highlights from the album are the solos in "behold" the intense breakdown in 'Devastate" and the technical breakdown at the end of "Regenerate".
Ex guitarist Jason Richardson played a huge role in the writing of "the discovery",showing extreme talent. The vocals on the album are not exceptional, with the moderate pitch growl used mostly throughout this album, all though the breakdown at the end of "devastate" shows a nice blend of the two vocalists.Another interesting element is the song "a solution",showing of some decent clean vocals(not sure who did that) and time for the listener to rest for a bit. Personaly i found all songs to be extremely good, but there are weaker songs, like "Last Straw" and "Singularity".
But enough of the positive, even though this album is extremely well done,it still has its draw backs. For one the bass is nicely audible, unlike other bands in the genre, but it has this weird "robotic" sound that is a bit different and not to everyone's liking.Another thing is that the album as a whole feels a bit empty, like every song is good on its own,but its as if the album doesn't really have a theme,or maybe i just don't get it.
So yeah, this album definitely has more positive features than it has draw backs. But its certainly not for everyone, because of its technicality its not always appreciated by everyone, but to people who actually play an instrument,it can be simply amazing.I definitely think this album deserves a 4.Sorry if the review is to much of positive review, but its hard not be positive about this album, and it will be interesting to see where the band go from here and without Jason.

Haven't read review but don't start it like this
"My first review so excuse me if it lacks something."
Add that as a comment don't put it in the review.

Not very good grammar, spelling (it's TOO, not "TO"), improper capitalization, and other things that aren't good about this review. Clean it up a little and edit it.
| | | Hey buddy, you just gotta re-read your review and edit what you've written. To me it looks like you just typed this up on the fly and didn't really clean up before posting it. Do that and just keep writing, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. The user base can be harsh, but if you just do what I said then others will start giving you different advice that will make you an even better reviewer.
Welcome to Sputnik and keep it up!

Not bad--definitely needs some cleanup and editing. But other than that, not bad at all for a first review!
I love this album too; definitely my metal album of the year for 2011.
