Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is said to be Wilco's very own Ok Computer. While it is a great pop album, it is nothing amazing. Wilco blend together simple pop and rock music, but the music is unique simply because they use so many instruments throughout the course of the album. The seven minute opener, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart is a slow paced ballad featuring acoustic guitars, chimes, various electronics and a simple piano solo. The albums pop tunes are War on War Kamera[/i] Heavy Metal Drummerand Jesus Etc., they are far and away the best tracks off the album. Each track is unique weather it features a violin, electronic effects, or is just a straight up acoustic pop track. I love each of those songsbecause they are lovely and simple, and in result are just fun to kick back and listen to. I'm the Man that Loves You borrows elements from funk and rock, it's jammy guitar line is laid back yet somewhat compelling. The problem is when Wilco try to change the atmosphere to a dark and more depressing scene. Radio Cure is basically a five minute vocal rant when lead vocalist Jeff Tweedy slurs his words so you cannot understand a word that he is saying. The album ends with the dull Reservations that goes on and on with no direction. While Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a strong pop album on it's own, it is held back by depressing and deep songs.

I disagree with some of your views, though I think Jesus, Etc. is the best song. but Ashes of American Flags is a fantastic song and Heavy Metal Drummer and War on War are a bit boring in my opinion. I like Reservations too...

Radio Cure is easily my favorite song on here and who the hell gives a 54-minute album a 1 paragraph review like it's a 15 minute EP
