Review Summary: Too poppy.
Chapter V: Descent Into Mediocrity
I thought Dookie showed Maturity. However Nimrod was even more Mature than the previous as Insomniac was just dark and mature, but no Nimrod has it. This is just a more mature album? Maybe the band had decided to go down less I mean more pop side. Nimrod is probably Green Day's showing the first of their poppiness side. Nimrod was the beginning of the end for Green Day - how could you not realize it. This began to show their poppier side - even though the Dookie singles were big there was one song on Nimrod that was probably one of the band's biggest hits, and it is one of the band's worst songs ever I mean such a pussy song - the song is pretty pussy man. They used to sing about jacking off and smoking the green leaf - but now make pussy acoustic ballads for little girls to squirt in their pants.
Remember when they tried to sloppily emulate Minor Flag and Fuagzi. Sorry, typo again. It should say FUGAZI. Another typo - I meant Minor Threat. Black Flag is another 80s hardcore punk with famous member Greg Ginn. Fun fact - Black Flag had a new album this year called What The... that had a really bad cover of some1 puking. I wanna puke after hearing the pussy ballad - which is "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". This song has bused everywhere from TV finales to bar Mitzvahs presentation so it was all a game changer. The song began green day's unfurling into the bad bad side of pussy pop music. Lyric are nice though - i *** love them. The are hating and angry too. I hope you have the time of your life and BURN IN HELL rite?
So you people want me to use spellcheck guess what I used spellcheck and there aren't many words underlined in red. I was told yesterday by my computer teacher that when words are underlined in red, they are spelled incorrectly. They say you learns something new some every you day know? Anyway back to Green day - Nimrod is mediocre. Some songs do show up their punk style of old - Nice Guys Finish Last is a kick ass song that has punk riffs too. So does Scattered. "Take Back" shows off Green Day's darker side - Billie is so pissed off baby that it feels orgasmic and know I that is. His anger is my pleasure - that sounds sexual but it's not. So does "Platypus (I Hate You)" is one of my favorite Green Day songs ever. So good. My favorite lyric is "Dickhead, ***face, cock smoking, mother ***ing, asshole, dirty twat, waste of semen, I hope you die HEY." These are all derogatory terms towards someone who he wants to die. A dickhead literally means someone who has a male genital part on his face, but it means a jerk. ***face means he wants to have intercourse with your face, but it also means jerk. Cocksmoking literally means burning a male penis, but it's used as an emphatic word here. Mother***ing is someone who has incest with their own mother, and enjoys it too! Asshole is self explanatory. Dirty twat is an unclean female genital area, a waste of semen means the father never should have ejaculated into the mom's vagina because it gave birth to him, a waste. The double punchers of "Jinx" and "Haushinka" is good a pair of the songs of two. Fast and furious. Like the movies.
(Side note: They are delaying Fast and Furious 7 because of the Paul walker had dead last year)
But for all the good songs you get ***ty songs too. Like "Worry Rock", it sees Billie more laid back and more pussy. Maybe he's acting more pussy to get pussy? I do not know man. It could be that. "King For a Day" and its ska seems like an outlet for Billie to express his homosexuality. I think so. "Last Ride In" is a surf instrumental that is weird. Redundant is like a love song to his girl, but it comes off so un-punk and very pussy. I mention that because that is repeatedly what is Nimrod.'s flaw. The sound is too poppy - and I hate poppy. Coming off the dark and brooding Insomniac, I expected more. A classic that was , but this was not. SO *** this song. This led to the horrible Warning man. And American Idiot rebounds. Another classic. So how did Nimrod nail the coffin into the dead Green Day body? Riffing out is Dirnt and Tre Coool on the skins. I made a typo again - their should be two o's in Cool. Like tre Cool.
Nimrod signified the end of Green Day's glory days - After the classics Dookie and Insomniac they fell to almost mediocrity. I would have given this lower but they were saved by songs like take Back and Platypus. So 3/5. Almost bad. Should have been though.
