This is nirvanas debut album. they recorded it on subpop records for only 600$. This is their loudest album and one of their best (not that they have many).

Nirvana is:
Kurdt Kobain: guitar/mouth
Krist Novoselic: bass
Chad Channing: Drums
Jason Everman: Guitar (at live shows)
Dale Crover does the drums on floyd the barber, paper cuts, and downer.

The best songs (imo) are blew, floyd the barber, mr. moustache, about a girl, and love buzz.

Blew: has my all time favorite bass. This song is loud and full of screaming. The bass has distortion and fits everywheres (he plays relatively the samae thing as the guitar i believe). The solo is an awesome high pitched Kurdt Kobain solo. The drums aren't to complex but they fit like a glove (sorry for the simile). This song is a real gem. 4.5/5

Floyd the Barber: is extremely simple. The lyrics are hard to understand (unless you know them). It's got an awesome solo thats very simple but really good and it fits the feeling of the song very well. The drums are a lot like the guitar (if you dont know what i mean download scentless apprentice by these guys). This song is sweet. 4/5

About a Girl: has a very nice softer guitar. the bass has nice fills that blend perfectly. The drums sound very well and have a feeling that goes with the song very well. The solo is yet another simple one but one of the best. People say its beatles-esque but i dont see how. The lyrics are understandable in this one (HOLY ***) and they're very well written. 4.5/5

Love Buzz: is a cover of a Shocking Blue song (i have yet to heard the original so i dont know if its different) This song has an awesome bass line. It's got this eastern type feel to it which i think is different for this band but they do it well. Every instrument is very well put together. The guitar is fast and loud the drums are simple and catchy and the bass has some of the best fills ive ever heard. The solo (bass solo) is extremely awesome with the guitar doing some weird stuff over it. I really like the words in this song. 5/5

Mr. Moustache: This has a very fast guitar, thats really catchy and loud. The drums match perfectly and you can't really hear the bass. If you dont like loud music you'd probably hate this song (as is the situation with most of the songs). The lyrics are somewhat hard to understand but not too difficult. The song ends with the band playing the main riff but slowing it down each time. 4/5

Im gonna have to say that the worst song would have to be Big Chees which i would rate 3/5. The overall feel of this album is loud, noisey, awesome solos, solid bass and drums, and screamig/mumbling lyrics. This album is much better then i expected. I higly recommend it to any nirvana fans, especially if you loved incesticide. All the songs i didnt mention are really good. There isn't a bad song on this cd (maybe you'll think otherwise).

I dislike Nirvana, but I can't deny that this wasn't a good review.
Nice work man.

I'm probably the only one who thinks Nevermind is more listenable than this.

I think you completely missed the target here, instead of describing Nirvana's sound and style on the album, you just describe the instruments. When all you do is describe the instruments a bit, it gives no help on figuring out what the album sounds like.

i said it was loud and noisy had some screaming/mumbling vocals and how the instruments were, i thought that was a god description, but as i said before, you probably wont think the same.

Not to impressed with the review. But fantastic album. Also Jason Everman did not play on this album. He payed their money to record (Which he never got back) and was included in the booklet. He just played some live shows for them in 89.

... chances are the music you listen was influenced by Nirvana someway or another, but, as I always say, to each his own.

I'm probably the only one who thinks Nevermind is more listenable than this.

If you like the cleaner, more appealing sound, Nevermind si it. I prefer the rawer Nirvana like this and Incestecide. I can hear half of Nevermind on the radio.
