Review Summary: Album that will keep you thirsty for more.
Honestly this album is one of my favorites of all time. I came here to write a review about it but I really don't think I can say much, so I'll just go through the songs.
(Left)
Somewhat Damaged: an angry ass song that seriously makes you want to punch someone in the face. Seeing this song live opened up my eyes to new lights on it. Personally it's one of my favorites on the album.
The Day The World Went Away: My god, this song is amazing. The way it gets heavy just to slow down again, like boom. Blows my mind every time I listen to it. I bought the EP for this album and there's a quiet version that's even better..
The Frail: Amazing instrumental. The first one on the album, the beautiful, melodic piano just makes it a great song. The fact that it's another one of this perfect transition songs ups it's quality tenfold.
The Wretched: It's a great song. The way it's written with the frail moving right into it is awesome. Personally it's not my favorite song, but I think it's one of the most intelligently written songs on the album.
We're In This Together: One of this Reznor songs that never seems to end. But it's very awesome. (Some of you may get that reference I hope). This is another one of my favorites on this album, because it has a very smooth feeling to it as well as having a deep meaning to the lyrics.
The Fragile: I love how the first 7 songs on this album transitions perfectly with each other. The slow nature of this song mixed with the loud chorus is a perfect compound, and the guitar solo is just perfect for this song.
Just Like You Imagined: One if my favorite instrumentals if all time. I would listen to it on repeat for all eternity if possible.
Even Deeper: People seem to hate this song, and it doesn't deserve any hate. It's an amazing song. It starts my being the kind of song that makes you feel like you're lost in oblivion, but then it screams at you with the force of 1000 suns.
Pilgrimage: This song. Not one I particularly like. It's well written and all that, but I don't a appreciate it myself.
No, You Don't: Another song that I would listen to in repeat. I can't really say anything about it... It's just an awesome song I find it really catchy.
La Mer: Second favorite instrumental. I love the piano mixed with percussion at the beginning and then the French girl speaking just a bit. The drums that come in and when the song gets more intense it just makes me tingle.
The Great Below: I really do enjoy this song a lot. I just listened to it now, and i have to say that I'm a fan of it.
(Right)
The Way Out Is Through: To me, this song isn't very good. I would've chosen a different song entirely to lead off the second half, because if you listen to this song first, you can already tell the second half won't be as strong as the first half.
Into The Void: I think this song is extremely catchy and cool to listen to, but it doesn't really have an impact on me. The song itself is well put together but it isn't very memorable
Where Is Everybody ?: I like this song, but exactly like Into The Void it really doesn't do anything for me.
The Mark Has Been Made: I enjoy this song as well. But still this side of the album isn't special yet.
Please: Finally here we go. A song that makes the album. The guitar at the beginning, that moved into the funky bass line that's in there just made my jaw drop the first time I heard it.
Star***ers Inc.: This song was written in collaboration with Marilyn Manson. The song is great but lacks any real depth in general. When I listen to it I feel the need to head bang at the chorus just because it's the kind of song that makes me want to bash my head into the wall. I still love it though.
Complication: Another instrumental. I like how this one sounds a little more electronic because it actually ties the album together instead of being just one genre over and over again.
I'm Looking Forward To Joining To Joining You, Finally: This is just another song on the second half that really doesn't do it for me. I like the sound but it doesn't make me want to listen to it a second time.
The Big Come Down: Here it is. The song that influenced my username. As soon as I started writing this part, it came on on my iPod. Destiny. The beginning that sounds like he's smacking a bunch of metal rods together and the him screaming is amazing. The chorus makes my hairs stand on end every time, and then the last little instrumental part at the end of the song just brings it together so well. God I love this song.
Underneath It All: Don't like. I've never liked it, i just think it's an obnoxious song.
Ripe (With Decay): A great way to close a great album. I like this song it reminds me of death along with despair. Haha yeah that sounds weird.
Overall I feel that The Fragile is one of NINs best albums. I'm sorry I know I suck at writing reviews. Constructive criticism would be appreciated actually, so anything that could improve this feel free to tell me.
