Review Summary: Punk mixed with reggae, Bad Brains defy genres on their classic self titled work.

I'll give the first person to correctly identify what lead vocalist H.R. is shouting on "Pay to Cum" $20. Go on, my pockets won't be getting any lighter. Never fear, cuts like "Sailin' On," "Big Take Over," and "Leaving Babylon" are easier to understand despite the breakneck speed of the first two. Perhaps they play so fast to hide any technical difficulties present in musicianship, an art they got better at on later albums. The speed will melt your face off. "Attitude" brings forth the bands "P.M.A.," or positive mental attitude, displayed musically in the reggae tracks "I love I Jah" and the finale "Extro." "Banned in D.C." explains in roughly two minutes how, with a thousand other places to go, they can find peace elsewhere. Even in the hardcore jams there is a seemingly content rhythm among the screaming. At a much slower tempo, the group lets out several smooth reggae sounds extolling virtues of Rastafarianism. Usually bands start with punk and branch out soon after, but these guys spread their roots thick from the start. A true hardcore punk classic.

Not exactly well-written. Nice opinion, though.

This is neither here nor there, but the only Bad Brains song that regularly makes it into the rotation is 'She's Calling You'. That main riff is one of the best ever.

this is a good review, i'd rather a short 15 or so lines that tells me what i need to know than a 58684 paragraph long heart to heart about how it changed my life

it's a little shaky but not poorly written by any means

but yeah negging solely based on length is just silly

you don't need a lot of words and paragraphs to get your point across, I mean isn't that the backbone to punk in the first place???
