Review Summary: Acid King evolved their music, grafted with inspiration and mastery "Middle Of Nowhere, Center Of Everywhere" and earned a nomination for offering one of the most nottable stoner albums of 2015.

Hailing from San Francisco, California Acid King return after ten(!!!) years with their fourth album "Middle Of Nowhere, Center Of Everywhere". The band's sound is suitable for those who whorship early Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Saint Vitus, Sleep and more decayed bands like Eyehategod and early stage Crowbar.

The doom / stoner metal trio's music is packed with overweight slow basslines, distorted gigantic guitars and the desperate vocals of Lori S. The album without losing the charm of the monotony of its kind, is quite diverse and melodic, like on the opening track "Silent Pictures". It's also obvious that the band breathes for the psychedelic / THC driven side of heavy music. Therefore while keeping the slack, the compositions are constantly surrounded by a ganza recorded jam aura. The band's ideas are blended with skill and the album flows effortlessly, without being dull for even a second. The production is quite natural and airy, with an amazing sound, especially on drums.

Some fans might miss a few rock 'n' roll elements of previous albums and Lori's most glaring / punk vocals, but these ingredients receded in favor of atmosphere, musicianship and epicness. Major example of the above is the eight-minute epic "Center Of Everywhere".

In conclusion Acid King evolved their music, grafted with inspiration and mastery "Middle Of Nowhere, Center Of Everywhere" and earned a nomination for offering one of the most nottable stoner albums of 2015.

So, roll, ignite and enjoy.

Always loved them with their super-heavy atmospheres mixed with trance-y psychedelia. Gotta listen.
