Review Summary: LIVE FAST! ON HIGH! REPENTLESS! NEVER DIE!
M/ m/ m/ SLAYERRRRRRR
Slayer will go down as one of the best bands ever made. They started thrash along with Metallica and Megadeth and have become part of the big 4 of thrash because of this. The band is well known for its killer riffs at lightning fast speed, Tom Araya's satanic yells, and for their really cool guitar solos. Slayer's first 7 albums are all nearly flawless and all of their albums just flat out slay! Even when the big 4 of thrash went into sold out places, Slayer still stayed true. Anthrax went groove metal/nu-metal, Metallica went hard rock and grunge, and Megadeth just did whatever Metallica did but worse (sometimes with a dance club rap synth, like lol). Slayer was the only band that stayed true to thrash and even got heavier then the first few albums! Albums like Show No Mercy, Hell AWaits, and Rein In Blood have all been 5/5's on this site before and that is a big deal because I rarely give 5/5's. Other albums like Seasons in the Abyss, Diabolas In Musica, South ov Heaven and Divine Intervention are also some of my all time favorites. So it is no shock that REPENTLESS riffs and shreds just as hard as ever.
The title track, Repentless, is an awesome song. The main riff is killer and Tom shouts everything like he's just so pissed off at the world. Kerry King wrote the song without Jeff and it is proof that he does not need Jeff to be amazing. Gary Holt is also on this track and he shreds almost as good as Kerry. It is good. I hope this becomes a #1 radio single because it is just a mammoth track!
Other songs worth noting are Vices, which is the best Slayer song since Raining Blood. It riffs very hard and has a very catchy chorus. The guitar solo is easily Better then anything Jeff did since Divine Intervention.
Speaking of that, people hate this album because Jeff isn't on it. Well Jeff died you idiots! HE CANT BE ON THE ALBUM BECAUSE HE DIED OF LIVER FAILURE!!!! Do you want them to puppeteer his corpse on stage??? Lol! I bet a gazillion dollars that if Jeff was on this it would have a 4.2/5 on this site at the very least. People hate Divine Intervention only because Dave isn't drumming, I mean it's the only reason! All of the songs are amazing and riff hard as *** but no Dave, no good. That is just idiotic you morons, if it were an alternate universe where Dave did drum on DI it would be as loved as the first 5 albums. Morons.
Anyways, When The a Stillness comes is the lamest song because has this acoustic intro?? Like that isn't thrash. And there isn't even a guitar solo! Like wtf? How can it be metal thrash goodness without a solo? Lame ***. Why they released this as a single is beyond me. Implode is the song everyone heard first and it is a damn awesome song. It starts with this slow chuggy riff that suddenly kicks into a lightning fast riff!! And tom screams IMPLOOOODDE!!!! At the top of his lungs like he is about to kill someone. It rules. m/ m/ I also really like You Against You and Piano Wire, both are songs I really like. Pretty much every song on here is really good and trve metal except for When The a stillness Comes.
The production is very good. It is mixed very well and the guitars are loud and heavy. Tom's vox have a weird filter over them like huh? But it isn't because he is like 58, it is because he is experimenting with new sounds, something Slaytanica always did. DI was progressive thrash metal and DIM was nu-thrash metal with punk and hardcore elements. See? Slayer always tries new things. You can here every note on this album. This is the kind of album you jam with beats or dr drayz on. It is mixed to perfection and I want my deathcore future band to have quality like this.
Over all this is an amazing album. SLAYER may be old but they also rule. Tom lives in Texas, which explains why he is still fiery and like he is still 18. Texas is where I live now so go longhorns! LOLOLOLOL hahahah :) yah so go buy this now. If you like fast songs and guitar solos, you will love this. SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR m/ m/ m/ m/
