Review Summary: Ouch...Just..ouch.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS GUY'S VOICE?! He just lost it! Anywho, yeah...the rating says it all. I think it was supposed to be a concept album but it was so choppy and all over, not to mention the very vague plotline (growing up in America, is what I'm getting from it.), it just fails to impress. The title track "Rise" isn't too bad, but the weird pitchiness in John's voice is a bit unbareable. Then there's that bit after "Rise", I think that's an intro to "Sick of it", and "Sick of it" is just radio trash. Good message, but the whole thing just screams 'Sellout!". Good to be alive is such a badly placed track that drags on.....and on.....aaaannd onnn.... and then "Circus for a Psycho" comes in but with lyrics like "It's Time to ride a circus for-a-PSYCHO!" I just couldn't take it seriously. I mean, how can someone ride a circus? Meh.
