HIM. A name either loved or hated in the music community. I will admit it, a couple years ago, HIM was probably one of my favorite bands, but I quickly grew out of them.
However, I did see this album lying on my bedroom floor a couple days ago. I was going to throw it away, but I decided to give it another spin, for old times sake. Guess what? It’s not extremely terrible!
There are some gems in this album. Basically, the first half of the album is good, and then it just DROPS. HIM actually seems to do this with most of there albums. “Join Me In Death” is probably actually the best song on here. The opening keyboard part is undeniably catchy, and “Poison Girl” has the best vocal job by Valo.
The last half of the CD is pretty much terrible. Everything after “Right Here In My Arms” is VERY bland and boring. Overall, HIM is something I can only stand every now and then. Both musically and vocally. Though I must say that the lyrics really suck. “I hold your hand in mine
I hold your hand and you're so lonely
Oh so lonely
Your eyes have lost their light
Your eyes have lost their light and you're empty
Oh my God you're so empty”
Yeah, exactly.
