After years of talk, and a couple of different sounding CD's/EP'S just before this, Blink-182 are back and put out a strong effort that you should make time to listen to
I'll be honest, wasn't 100% sure of new blink-182 when Tom left and Matt joined up. blink-182 is my favourite pop punk band ever and have always provided some pretty great material. Tom was a big part of this, so it wasn't going to be blink-182 for me right away. But holy was I surprised
The first thing to mention is how Matt doesn't try to be Tom, lending out his voice to help Mark in most songs and sometimes having the spotlight to himself, and he pulls it off. This is the catchiest blink-182 have sounded in years, providing plenty of throwback pop punk and also experimenting with new sounds (although not always succesful), and even bringing back some of that humour they used to throw in all their songs. So yeah, blink-182 certainly made a comeback
The album isn't perfect though. There are some problems here and there. I don't prefer the song Los Angeles, and California (although still a decent song), doesn't really hit the grand emotional ending it's trying to be (could be what I just hear though). Another problem is some of the writing found throughout, my biggest issue being sober (still a pretty good song though). But asides from these few issues, California is a blast
So, is California perfect? No. Does it really need to be? I don't think so. This album has made blink-182 have the momentum they need to keep making great music, and hopefully continue to keep making music as well. Matt was a great addition and Mark and Travis are still killing it at what they do. blink-182, you've caught my attention again, and I'm glad you have
