Review Summary: Falling In Reverse's second album was pretty bad compared to DIMIU but not all that bad either.
Falling In Reverse made their Debut in 2011 with the album The Drug in Me is You with a Metalcore/Hardcore sound to it and had mostly good reputation. Why is this important? Because they just threw that in the trash and said "LETS MAKE POP AND RAP AND ALL THAT MAINSTREAM SHHHHHAIIIIIIITEEE"
Now that we have the production straight, lets get into the review.
The Album starts off strong with Champion which strongly resembles DIMIU (This is what i will call The Drug in me is you from now) and is generally a good song to start off with. Good riffs, screaming and a catchy chorus. The song threw me off with a decent rap verse that definitely does not belong in a song like Champion.
Although the opener was good, Bad Girls Club is a whole different story. You remember when i said "Lets make pop and rap"? Well this is a perfect representation of what i said. The song is just a huge ***ing meme that get made fun of constantly by me and my friends.
Rolling Stone is meh... I mean its a good song but all the electronic *** doesnt belong in a heavy song. Eks: We get a ***ing electronic breakdown. I would rather have a generic as *** breakdown than what we got. Yes, i get they try something new but NO ONE saw that this was maybe a bad idea?
And now for the title song (if that is what its called), FASHIONABLY LATE! Well, its not too bad. Its almost bearable, i mean its good if you like artists like Ariana Grande and *** but if not, well i got news for ya buddy. If a friend asks "What does the most generic pop song sound like" you show him/her Fashionably late.
What?! A decent rap song? Alone is a rap-(metalcore?) song that just gets some people in the feels since its about being though on the outside and vulnerable on the inside. I like the song, the execution and GUESS WHAT GUYS! another breakdown...
Born to Lead is interesting. To me its a pop song disguised in a Metalcore song (to a certain degree). What i didn't see coming was like a minute long solo. Which was good?! people dont really do that anymore but its good to see something else. But here comes the bummer.... directly after the solo, ANOTHER BREAKDOWN.
I kinda like the feel of It's Over When it's Over. It's break from the usual song on the album. It doesnt include a breakdown is is generally a good song. I like the rapping in it and Ronnie just makes it work somehow.
We are skipping Game Over because *** that song...
By far the best song on the album is Self-Destruct Personality. It's pretty similar to Champion but better (i know it is kinda contradicting to what i said earlier but still). It has a catchy verse, a catchy chorus and a suprisingly good rap verse. it also replaces the breakdown with a pretty good solo, good job Jacky Vincent. Also the song has a pretty cool outro.
*** The Rest is like the Party Rock song of the bunch. It is pretty energic and its pretty OK for what it is. Personally i took the song to heart since it teached me that i probably should ask for approval from EVERYONE i meet. Also, another breakdown! HOW NEAT.
The last 4 songs are just what ive been saying earlier. But did anyone else notice a pattern listening to the album? Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Rap Verse, Breakdown/solo, slightly different chorus x2.
