Review Summary: the eaglez of black metal
Black metal rulez. It rulez hard because no one else has the ballz to do what they want without a care in the world. They have the pure, untainted creative liberty to sound exactly the same as transilvanian hunger for the 953726435967907th time. That's not entirely correct, first off they sound worse than transilvanian hunger for the 9687843734758th time, second off any trve pvrist should be well aware that actually the most common black metal formula was invented by that snoring guy from thorns on the grymyrk demo in 1991, and then immortal and dissection and everyone else just copied it (seriously just go listen for yourslef its true). BUT whats important is when it comes to having a thousand different bands play you the exact same notes in the exact same order, even pop punk is no match for the frozen kingdom in the north. Maybe that one genre where they all sound like sabbath, but with how much weed they smoke they probably genuinely forgot that they've heard it all before. Ah.
Listen. If you want to talk about freedom no one is freer than the eagle soaring in the sky. What makes Fleurety the free-est of the free and the bravest of the brave is that they actually captured a live ***ing eagle and forced it to squawk into the microphone. Hard to believe? Perhaps. And I mean can you even call yourself a real artist if you dont use every means necessary to express yourself, even if it means enlisting the help of a bird ? I think not! Needless to say it's an unforgettable vocal experience, at least one person has said that it sounds like a tyre screeching on the tarmac.
Of course that alone would be enough to set Fleurety apart from the rest, but like all true artists they have ambitions and balls! Their ambitions are made clear by the way their riffs dont sound like every other black metal band, their balls are made clear by the way you can actually ***ing hear it too! These riffs are weird, they sound like Voivod, but also not. You may call them chameleon riffs , whilst I may call you a buffoon. BUT I am pretty sure the third song has a part that's in a major key or something, only it doesn't sound happy, it sounds like one of the best Ulver riffs except this was first. Bitches !!! Clean guitars make appearances too, the second track is basically if Voice of the Soul was not made by a sellout band, i mean let's be real it's still not as cool as the other two songs here but it's ok I guess.
The biggest reason why the other two songs rule hard is because Fleurety dont just play the same riff and blasts for the entire duration. Riffs come in, riffs go out, but not so often that you may feel confused! u get a drum break here, u get some slower parts there, they take their sweet time but it feels like it's going somewhere, almost like it's an actual song or something. This band is cult as *** as you can tell by the number of ratings, although their first LP sounds more like ved buens ende so its a bit more popular, you should check that too. too bad the eagle died in a car accident rip bro gone but never forgotted!!
