| Koris Hey Ars, do you still have the power to let people into the Sput discord? I'm finally ready to return :]
| JesperL thanks for the rec, i'm finally getting to it!!
| mryrtmrnfoxxxy wowee zowee i never want to hear that title track ever again. ****. the rest range from solid to cool. Tapdance 2 and Ur Heart Stops are my first listen favs (they are cool). not really what im into right now but I appreciate the rec dude
| DoofDoof Good early impression - like a mix of Prefab Sprout and Sunset Rubdown at times
| SlothcoreSam You need some French Bungle? Check this band, Sebkha Chott
| DoofDoof Been getting into Killing Joke a lot recently - ever tried much of their stuff? Thought you might vibe with them. Also I dont know if I recommended them before but Alice Donut might be up your street? Great late 80s/90s stuff from them.
| DoofDoof True, you do like a lot of folk and The Beatles and faint psychedelic influences so I dunno...I guess maybe i thought the vocals might put you off perhaps, seen a lot of users here recently criticise his singing. Also 4.5 is a very high rating - pleased though as it is in my top 25 of all time.
| DoofDoof Didnt know Either/Or would be your thing, nice
| Sunnyvale Hi Ars! Thanks for putting it on my radar, will check.
| hexfix93 Sweet, thanks. Didn't even know there was a sput discord lol
| Frippertronics as much as i could disagree to your dislike, bedlam has the benefit of being by a partially different lineup more oriented toward chaotic rhythms and all gas/no brakes. i won't bother you about it, but i do think you'll find something in there that you'd enjoy
| Frippertronics unironically listen to the bedlam in goliath (mars volta), nonstop energy bats*** peyote desert psych prog rock
| MiloRuggles But on the title track (and the other long track) I think I can see what aspects you're pushing for (dedication to the groove being front and centre and maybe against Kaiyote's progclivities)
| MiloRuggles She'll probably get a rating bump from me too! Have listened twice, but have some hang ups that I'm trying to decide are Parliament-wide and contemplating the significance of hmmmm
| MiloRuggles Legend ty. Have dabbled in Parliament but not that album yet, much excite
| Trundle I know, given time pots will inevitably change his opinion of me, i would happily rejoin the discord after a calmi g down period, but right now I don't think, defending myself isn't going to get me anywhere, at least for the time being
| Trundle Yeah, I am in total agreement that it was a misunderstanding, and I only voiced that opinion because I am exposed to very intolerant views on websites that are supposed to be sports forums, and they routinely use the same labels to disparage millions if not billions of people, and sput is one of the few sites that doesn't engage I this activity, I mean, I have enough issues to deal with atm, the last thing I want is that the community I have embraced for 18 years to turn on me
| Trundle Hey ars, just wanted to say, I hope we're still on good terms, as you said you understood what I was trying to say, but did not agree with it. Pots opinion isn't the one that concerns me, rather the opinion of everyone else in that channel does concern me though, I hope you understand that, i just don't want to be further characterized as having opinions that I clearly don't have because I value your opinion and the vast majority of that discords opinion,
| Mort. thank u very much sir
| Mort. r u a mod on discord? can you pls give me permissions etc cos i cant see anything at all
| Avagantamos can you DM it to me? i'm not seeing any messages in the server
| Avagantamos thanks for the invite! I'm bladelores on discord, if you could change my nickname to Avagantamos that would be appreciated
| Vercetti Thanks for the link. I'm generally not very active on discord, but I joined. :)
| SlothcoreSam Haha, it's not the greatest. But the chanting is all about you
| SlothcoreSam I just stumbled upon your new theme song. https://open.spotify.com/track/6lQqLS5WLmiTN2uqjCe8Kc?si=wmhtxI6BQQuO2BKwd1awwA

| VlacDrac Excelente lists, that reminds me, I still have to listen to the rest of the Surfer's discography. Thanks.
| Trifolium Nice, still need to check it. I'll do so when the mood hits.
| neekafat I?ll be happy to when I?m back to reviewing more!! Im still having trouble finding the time and since I?m still new I wanna cover new stuff when i can. Def gonna do my homework on the band in the meantime
| neekafat sargasso sea ia really sooooooo good
| mouldypigeon hello Ars, as you are the resident PJ Harvey expert, just wondering if you have any favourite live performances of hers worth checking on youtube? Individual songs, guest spots, full concerts, interviews even, etc.
| neekafat ooooooh i forgot bands were limited to one rev per user (; jk i'll give it a peek, sounds like something i'd enjoy!!
| neekafat ars yknow you can always come to me with the recs (;
| Trifolium Hehe, thanks for the reminder and the rec. Lots of love!
| bighubbabuddha you could listen to more modern hip hop to round your taste though
| bighubbabuddha The thing we have in common is we both have our nips out. hugs!
| Elynna Yes finally! Thanks for letting me know. I see you already tagged a lot of bands from my lists. Whenever I have the time Ill make sure to tag neofolk artists not on my lists or remove the general folk tag where necessary.
| budgie what r u even DOING anymore jesus
| Trifolium Heard this on the radio when doing the dishes. Was lovely. Thought you might perhaps enjoy as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XFoN-3j4lE
| SlothcoreSam You heard Hampton Grease Band? Massive Zappa and Beefheart vibes
| AsleepInTheBack Jam it on an early morning walk somewhere green for sunrise it is magic
| AsleepInTheBack Have you heard Clube de Esquina? By Milton Nascimento and Lo Borges? Mildly psychedelic pop/folk MPB, with a bit of subtle genre hopping and effortless prod from the 70s? Couldn?t see it in your rates but it seemed so you that I had to mention it.
| Colton that album is good I like it
| SlothcoreSam Haha, you got through it, how many bottles of run did you need?I don't think I've ever listened to it front to back, I just put in on shuffle and end up skipping half the tracks.
| Colton as if i don't have post-1999 Bob Dylan albums rated 4
| Colton I listen to any band whose name is just an animal so I'm in
| mryrtmrnfoxxxy i have a feeling you might like Bloodloss - The Truth Is Marching In. i see you got a big list series going so probably not looking for recs lol oh well
| budgie melodys echo chamber had a cool collab track with crumb i liked
| neekafat gazelle twin was pretty sick! did a lil (very bad) writeup on it for my cram list
| budgie shubbba bubbba bubbba hubbba wubbba wubbba
| SlothcoreSam lol, fair enough. B.F.F. is a song I keep going back to.
| SlothcoreSam It is more fun to listen to a couple of tracks than the full thing sort of album, but nonetheless very strong.
| SlothcoreSam Going through all my 2023 albums, and feel like this one is pure Arscore. Alien Tango - Kinda Happy, Kinda Sad. Psychedelic art pop
| budgie i actually really dig it lmao thanks
| Demon of the Fall Your Helium review is v good. 1 page is a travesty though! Incredible album
| Colton ok so pj harvey and what are the other 2
| Colton what are the top 3 albums of the year
| GhandhiLion lol the album rating - song rating discrepancy
| Trifolium Loving this weirdo a lot, it might be your thing too! https://dadajoaozinho.bandcamp.com/album/tds-bem-global Or perhaps not. You never know!
| BitterJalapenoJr Morning Ars, I have noticed you have given me an additional 0.5 for winning the previous round but it was the previous round I won. CugnoBrasso should have the additional 0.5 for the dream pop round.
| Ryus new gazelle twin weird as hell. i didnt dislike it tho. just dont think i would listen to it again lol. pretty interesting
| SlothcoreSam You heard of Cornbugs? https://open.spotify.com/track/7bviAkZLeSFREe72fCYboi?si=Rx8Vct1PSeCKe62EyjvduA
| Colton61 not trying to reinvent the wheel just trying to make sputnik better
| Colton61 how is this https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/986472253912932385/1170508179713564752/image.png?ex=65594bb1
| Titan Sup Ars. I will check that out, thanks for thinking of me?
| BitterJalapenoJr I haven't forgotten, just not my strong point this round. I'll come up with something. :-)
| widowslaugh123 Haha yeah you?d think there would 1,000 goth singers in Portland but no. We thought we?d have a singer by the recording and we never found one so we were just like **** it let?s do it ourselves. Thanks for listening dude
| widowslaugh123 Aye ars since you?re are biggest fan check our new single. It?s a cover. Our singer moved so we just did the vocals ourselves until we find a new one. Takes a bit to get started but once the bass kicks in it gets going. https://open.spotify.com/album/73bKSNqW7ekxk7iPyUWzDC?si=h2iJLkblTX6oNkjGzTDzCA
| budgie me not big fan of melody echo chamber
| budgie thats prob my assessment as well. however the single that came out earlier this month is killer, "enter the deep"
| budgie https://glassmanet.bandcamp.com/album/glassplanet this album annoyed me a lot so i thought u might like it
| Dewinged Sorry for the late reply, Ars! Your reviews are not mediocre at all, what chu talking about. Give it a shot, if you want me to give it a proofread that can also be arranged, let me know!
| Dewinged No, I don't think so, feel free to have a go at it. No other staff has it dibbed either afaik!
| SomeCallMeTim sweet, joined but it looks like all channels / text are hidden
| random Thanks for the shoutout, Ars.
| SomeCallMeTim ok, so! I finally got around to finishing the Godcaster album. Really dig it, one of those albums that makes me wish I had the true decimal rating capability since its not quite a 4 but also above a 3.5. Added a couple songs to my incredibly loosely defined "art rock" playlist (hate that term, so I called the playlist "fart rock"). Favorites on there gotta be Vivian Heck and Draw Breath Cry out
| Mort. its our ten years in a few weeks! almost forgot cos my join date got messed up in the hack. will be making a highly indulgent list all about my history. looking forward to the same from u, join date brotha
| SlothcoreSam Oooh yeah it is too. Listening to them now, great stuff. I think I like the black Foliage album better on first impressions, but going to need more time with them.
| SlothcoreSam I haven't heard The Olivia Tremor Control, but will get on it. Circulatory System's first releases it's also excellent
| SlothcoreSam Yo Arse, u ever checked Circulatory System- Signal Morning? Think you'd enjoy it.
| JohnnyoftheWell HI thank you so much for expressing interest in Sputmix 2023! There is one (one!) bureaucracy barrier for you to overcome - please hit up this form and send your info over asap, so I can get a database going and pin down what this thing is gonna look like. Love! https://forms.gle/zkKtidhnXpgYUsUv5
| parksungjoon i was ujst reminded when u made ur post about them and foster the people. if u listen to the song 4 by aphex twin from the rdj album in 1996, the synths sound so ****ing much like all these late 00s early 10s indie pop rock whatever TVcommercialCore
| parksungjoon why does mgmt sound like the track 4 by aphex twin
| PotsyTater https://open.spotify.com/track/2koS4fD3kzizdnzWzyrxyT?si=X0EvC1iiRzecqbIc0QGzHA
| BitterJalapenoJr Glad you got something from it at least! There's pockets of cool psych dotted throughout it.
| Ryus nice yeah his early lo-fi stuff totally feels like ars-core. psychedelic, poppy, quirky. "house arrest" and "the doldrums" are particularly amazing
| Ryus have u listened to ariel pink i think u would like him
| BitterJalapenoJr Hey Ars, I know you're a psych man and got a rec for you from my recent dive into The Future Sound of London. Still has elements of the electronica they were known for previously but this delves deeply into psychedelia and thought you might get a kick out of it...https://open.spotify.com/album/3Yxu6uvrPfgTpldgllHOn4?si=UsHf1tuoQDenX362fFCFug
| Ryus yea mane it rules. the opener is one of my faves too. my mom actually bought that album on CD when i was like 8 years old and we used to listen to it together lol. hadnt heard it in years until recently
| random Ars, if you didn?t know already, Butthole Surfers? ?The Shame of Life? was co-written by Kid Rock.
| Colton what happened here https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/986472253912932385/1100621116764074044/IMG_0224.png
| parksungjoon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txh7toca424 . this was the other. just navelgazin about s*** im remembering i guess, idk how well defined disco really was and i can vouch it may have been abused at times, at least in some parts of europe here
| parksungjoon nah it wasnt about tags just some music i thought u might like
| parksungjoon jon anderson and vangelis collab was there too, RIP
| parksungjoon yea i saw. do u know this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIVxFn03ZNA
| Trifolium Yes it is! They've got so many of those too.
| Trifolium Telepathy exists!!!! We've proven it!!! Enjoy, it's a trance and wild dance inducing song.
| Trifolium Ultra repetitive ultra party groove Stereolab B-side incoming!!!!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7OhydrNMN8
| SandwichBubble Wow, I appreciate you taking the time to do that. I added the tag to the ones you pointed out.
| SandwichBubble https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/SandwichBubble/strm_h/New wave/1 | I need to go through all my sput rates to actually get a complete list. There's also papa uni's post punk lists to go through, if you want. While I'd like to be helpful and all, I really don't have that kind of time right now.
| BitterJalapenoJr Cheers Ars, some good, some bad indeed. It is what it is I suppose :-)
| BitterJalapenoJr Hey Ars, probably missed this somewhere but is there a a list of new tags approved my Mx? I don't wish to add further frustration to you by discussing more metal related things and I very much doubt i'm the first to bring it up but imho, technical death metal belongs here just as much as the existing tag of melodic death metal, tons of bands could have the technical tag and have "death metal" removed.
| random By the way, I wasn?t using Queercore or Homocore as slurs, I?ve heard that style referred to using both terms.
| random Thinking Fellers sounds like Meat Puppets and The Refreshments mixed with Gin Blossoms on acid! One of their drummers was the first drummer for Queercore/Homocore band Pansy Division from San Francisco!
| Mort. gaza should be sludge, mathcore and metalcore. i dont think sowing blanked he might have just misunderstood cos their grind tag is gone(which is good because grind is horribly misused, gets tacked onto every hardcore/metalcore band with blastbeats). etid should be hardcore, metalcore and mathcore. thank u very much sir and i will tag as you say
| Ryus oh boy i am a disco noob but i will try my best
| Mort. i have not. was not particularly excited by the psych rock description i saw but once i started listening was pleasantly surprised
| Storm In A Teacup I still have full intentions of finishing arsoween if I can ever stabilize my life
| Mort. i think you would like shudder to think - pony express record
| SomeCallMeTim oo nice, I've never heard of these guys but based on the similar artists I'm interested. Imma listen later and let you know, if I remember lel
| MillionDead I'll try to give it a play after work this evening. Thanks for the rec!
| IsisScript80 Cheers for the rec, Ars... will give them a peep in due course. :)
| JohnnyoftheWell (((i haven't actually heard the album yet, aside from that music party song but))) godcaster for bnm yes!! wake sona up and tell him to 5 it for a hot minute, we shall get there
| dedex hey Ars, will def jam that! i know you've gone crazy for those guys lately
| random OK, Ars. Thank you for the recommendation!
| Mort. first track piqued my interest for sure, nice find
| Sunnyvale Yep, I will review it! On my first listen to the self-titled now and it's my favorite thing they've done so far.
| Sunnyvale Hi Ars! No promises as I'm not familiar with the band, but I'll check out the debut LP later today and if I like it/find it interesting I'd definitely consider reviewing the new one.
| JohnnyoftheWell O **** I have two large ones in the backlog and an inflammatory one dropping in Fri - hit me up in a couple of weeks and I'll have a check, but holler at Jesper, tyman or maybe Sunny - they're all swift and up for whatever
| Frippertronics yeah, popping in here and there to rate and comment then promptly buggering off for weeks/months at a time. Todd was remarkably consistent from 1971-1975, but has some real good stuff scattered here and there up until 1985, personally speaking. Also helps he was in Nazz, which is a fairly seminal garage/psych group. Best wishes.
| MillionDead I haven't seriously discorded in a while but I should get back into it tbh.
| Mort. yeah i only listened to a bit and bailed when i realised it was just very unfinished demos. would be cool for them to reform with a different vocalist to just finish off all the uncompleted stuff but i know tim was sort of unreplaceable
| Mort. https://brainiac.bandcamp.com/album/the-predator-nominate-ep
| dedex okido at least I tried! have a good weekend bae
| Colton also have you listened to this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSzwm80FGsI
| Colton also tell robert I'm sorry I haven't answered his discord DMs, swear it's not intentional I just forget to check and then once I do I'm like "**** I forgot to answer these" and I feel bad and procrastinate. I will tho
| Colton it's just gonna be johnny starting s*** and insulting me in increasingly personal ways and then blaming it on me, wouldn't be good for anyone. flattered that some people want me there, but gonna have to pass. hope you're doing well
| dedex hey Ars, just listened to Deakin's sole album, and I think you might enjoy his psychy stuff! xoxo enjoy your day
| SlothcoreSam Hey Ars, you heard of Alice Donut? They are like a punkier version of Ween. Think you might dig.
| Mort. make a best of noise rock list for me to pilfer recs from pls
| Colton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSzwm80FGsI
| Mort. i rescind everything i ever said about ween, good band will be digging further into them soon
| PotsyTater How do you not have this rated https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=395600
| Feather Fair. I appreciate ya for actually checking them out
| Feather lemme know what you think. Some fans hated it, some really dug it. Regardless I respect your vote against them haha
| Feather Will you please listen to Great Mass of Color by Deafheaven. They dropped the 'extreme metal vocals'
| SlothcoreSam Hey Arse, have a think about this, and nominate your Supergroup. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200857
| Divaman Say Ars, were you aware of the South Park Anniversary Concert? Thought you might be interested, because it featured both Primus and Ween. The whole thing is up on YouTube.
