| Sowing Thanks for the response! I sent you an email and we can continue the conversation there.
| Sowing I'm thinking of starting a blog series that will spotlight the musicians of Sputnik. Ideally, I'd like to include a mini-interview/questionnaire alongside song snippets and band info such as discography, genre(s), and general bio info. Let me know if you're game for something like that!
| Gameofmetal Thx, glad you liked it. About time I got to work on a full length now I think.
| Gameofmetal Dropped a new Dark Watcher EP, check it out :) https://darkwatcher.bandcamp.com/album/hymns-of-a-godless-land
| Gameofmetal Aaaaaand here?s my war metal EP/demo https://cynocephalus.bandcamp.com/album/blood-ran-in-torrents-drenched-was-all-the-earth
| Gameofmetal Thanks for listening. Prepping to drop the debut for another project very soon the second I get the songs back from the engineer, gonna be in the war metal vein this time.
| Gameofmetal Sup dude, one of my bands just put out a new album if you wanna give it a jam :) https://soundcloud.com/adiabolimusic/sets/a-diaboli
| DungeonBoy Hey man, long time no see, hope you're doing well. If you have a minute and want to check out a new tune, I released this earlier this week and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=594971
| Panzerchrist Hey, I wanted you to know that I ended up not writing a full review for the newest record. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I had a heck of a time writing about it, and I didn't want to force it. Hope everything's going well for you, btw. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
| Gameofmetal Hey I appreciate it, brother. Interview was a great read.
| TheNotrap Congrats, the album is indeed enjoyable ;) Wish you all the luck
| Panzerchrist Word. I'll shoot you a link when I have a full write-up together.
| Atari Ooh, thanks for the heads up! Dig the album art and I?ll definitely check it out
| Panzerchrist Hey dude, I'm really enjoying your new album. Would you mind if I put a full review together for the place I write for?
| Elynna Hey man, I love your new record! It ticks all the boxes and I think it?s an improvement over your debut on pretty much every level. You should be very proud of yourself.
| Sowing no worries, sounds great!
| Sowing no promises, but if I find the time, do I have your permission to do another review? I've tightened up my rating system and don't give out 5's anymore, but I love your work and wouldn't mind getting the word out there...
| Sowing hell yes, sign me up - will check it this week!
| ComeToDaddy Outstanding, I spun the premiere track and it was great so keen to give this a try (:
| Slex Oooo hell yeah bud, I'll listen asap!
| Dewinged Cheers man, yeah Noct gave me a heads up, will definitely check. Love the cover btw! Great choice!
| Gameofmetal album's kicking ass so far buddy, good work
| Dewinged Sure man, I'll check it out. Tx for the heads up!
| Gnocchi Hi bud, I shot you back an email this morning.
| Gnocchi I make no guarantees, and also ask that address be wiped if/when you're done with it.
| CaptainDooRight Oh yeah it was definitely worthy indeed! Keep me posted on your future endeavors
| CaptainDooRight hey man i just finished checking game of metals bm project and its excellent! you did a fantastic job on vox and you brought a great deal of diversity to the songs! great job!
| CaptainDooRight Wow that?s a whole lotta love! No pun. But seriously I?m glad you appreciated all those elements! Thanks for that feedback greatly!!
| CaptainDooRight Oh really? That?s awesome! I didn?t know you were a vocalist. Can?t wait to hear it
| CaptainDooRight hey bro! i remember we jammed each others albums not too long ago, well i just released another Trvth album today, can you jam it?? https://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/inordinate-and-surpassing
| CaptainDooRight Hey I loved the drum programming you did! Great job and great album!
| CaptainDooRight cool I?ll def check it regardless, it?s hard to program a full album like that
| CaptainDooRight oh sweet man I?m glad you like all those releases! And I?m really glad you like Grief and Justice too! I?m really happy with the riffs on that one. Best wishes on your endeavors. Keep me posted. Oh and dang I didn?t know you have a bandcamp. I?ll check it! Did you play drums on it?
| CaptainDooRight Nice dig also if you get good and confident at the drums would love to collab: https://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/a-galvanizing-derivation
| Gameofmetal So that project I said I had lined up seems to have collapsed somewhat (guy kinda just disappeared) but I want to have another project to work on if you wanna collab.
| Dewinged Cool man, thanks! I have nothing specific in mind at the moment. Was working with the wife on a semi acoustic project (she's an opera singer) but we have just a couple of tracks and we end up watching netflix most of time lol! I'll send samples your way when I get smth recorded in the near future!
| Dewinged Duuuude thanks a lot. I'm the other way round, I can't scream more than 3 seconds, you can hear some of it on "Iris" (pretty low, cause they suck lol). But yeah we should try to do smth together at some point man. I'm down for anything.
| Gameofmetal Ill talk to him about it and see what he thinks. We're both guitarists/composers so it'll just depend on how much he really wanted to sing, it was his thing initially so I'll defer to him. We're basically just in talks atm because Im focusing on my project, but it's looking like it'll be a darker, more ambient sound. Go ahead and drop me your email and I'll get back to you there.
| Gameofmetal I have another project lined up after I release my EP which may have room for you if you're interested, though it doesn't have any clear stylistic vision right now. Basically just me and another guitarist. That or maybe me and you could collab on something in the future that's totally separate. I'm trying to get my hands onto anything and everything I can at the moment essentially.
| Gameofmetal We're pretty set on vocals I think, though I did notice you recorded some harmonica on your album which is something that would be a great addition to my project if you wanna do that. You play any other kind of folky instruments or anything? We've got the core stuff down, but if I wanna add harmonica or fiddle or something random like that I have to program it right now.
| DungeonBoy Oh cool, man! yeah I remember giving that a spin when I saw it on Sputnik back in the day, but need to really sit down with it and give it a proper listen
| DungeonBoy Dude, you been jammin that new Aephanemer album? It's fun as hell, it's like if Wintersun and Insomnium had a baby, so good. I remember you mentioning it in another thread but it's out now m/: https://music.aephanemer.com/album/prokopton
| DungeonBoy Dude, have you checked that new Vehemence (FRA) album yet? It's awesomehttps://vehemencembm.bandcamp.com/
| DDDeftoneDDD check it check it! No grind man here either (which is why I like bands like Aborted or Pig Destroyer). Slugdge was my thing last year m/ Sulphur, Ocean and Convulsing were awesome too! You oughta check Ulthar, Tomb Mold, Horrendous (the latests) m/ check my 2019 list to see if something comes up to you. Saor and Soen were 3 to 3.5's for me.
| DDDeftoneDDD Tell me what you think on the new Misery Index. I get it like Aborted's deathgrind and a little Pig Destroyer's harcore. Heard it once and was so fun.
| TheLongShot Idk about compilations but Gillespie?s Afro-Cuban is quite good, worth a check for sure
| DDDeftoneDDD Coolest deathgrind band for me. Check retrogore and goremaggedon.
| TheLongShot Cheers man! I've historically not been super well-versed in jazz music, but I've been doing this deep dive thing as of late and I've been trying to educate myself on it more while giving other people some of my insight as well. Glad to hear you're enjoying the lists! (:
| Elynna If you got the time you should give Eneferens - The Bleakness of Our Constant a jam. I think its right up your alley.
| DungeonBoy Hey! yeah man, I actually think I listened to the first song. It popped up on something that I followed and thought it was pretty different. I'll check the whole thing out though. Dude yes, there is too much music this year, but there are worse things in life :)
| Sowing you're welcome, I wouldn't be promoting it so much if I didn't truly love it. nice work.
| DungeonBoy Hey dude, yep, his next release is gonna be on TGM, love his stuff, thanks for looking out
| Hawks Nice, def gonna check that bro.
| Sowing you're welcome...it was such an easy album to write about. easily the best metal album I've heard in years (as admittedly not a big metal fan)
| Sowing would love to hear it! I'm a bit swamped at my "real" job but if I have time I'd also like to do a review! if you would like, you can send to sowingsputnik@gmail.com
| DungeonBoy Hey dude, it's super easy. there are a bunch of services you can use but I use https://routenote.com/ they will upload your music to every major streaming service (spotify, apple music, etc.) the only issue is it can take a couple weeks for your album to show up. but if you sign up now for the new album it should show up around the time of its release. You should able to set a release date in route note, but I've only ever uploaded an album after it was already released and it still took a bit.
| DungeonBoy Sweet, jammin that new Vallendusk now. I remember giving Black Clouds Gather a few spins but couldn't get too into it as much as I was hoping to. I'm a sucker for most atmospheric/melodic black metal though, so I'm excited to hear this new one. This first song rips.
| JS19 Dude stop setting the bar for Green Man Label artist quality so high - you're putting the rest of us to shame! Amazing album man, you're super talented
| DungeonBoy Nice man! glad youre digging that Aorlhac. I plan on giving that new Uada a listen this weekend. I've had a busy week, but gotta make some time for new tunes
| DungeonBoy Awesome, I'll be sure to check it out. I enjoyed their last album Devoid of Light, but never got too into it. I've been meaning to mention to you about a French melodic black metal band called Aorlhac and their 2018 release L'esprit des vents. https://ladlo.bandcamp.com/album/lesprit-des-ventsit is so freakin good. There's nothing unique about it, but it is solid
| Hawks Top 5 for me at the moment. But yeah bro I'll def check that. m/
| DungeonBoy wav files are perfect. if you want to send them over email to abbruscatoda@gmail.com I can start working on them today and get some ideas back to you this weekend.
| DungeonBoy Hey man, that's awesome, glad you dug Solstice. Please don't purchase it, just download it and enjoy whenever you're in the mood :) Also, if you want to send me bounced wav files of those two tracks I'd be happy to master them for you and send them back to you. If you like them you can use them, and if you hate em I won't be offended if you stick to your originals. Kind of a win win situation. Let me know
| DungeonBoy Overall really cool stuff man, thanks for sharing it with me. I co-run a neofolk/ambient label (The Green Man) and have my own project (Rota Fortunae) if you are interested in checking it out: https://thegreenmanlabel.bandcamp.com/
| DungeonBoy Second song: Elusive Prayers for an Absent God. Very nice track, that makes for a good interlude. The biggest criticism, is I want another song after it, haha. The music is very relaxing, yet interesting, you have a knack for that, which is great to hear, but unfortunately it doesn?t conclude the EP for me, and kinda just drifts off. I need some more closure, in a good way though! It does wander a bit, but for me it?s very nice in this moment because it makes it kind of a meditative experience.
| DungeonBoy I like the diversity throughout how it goes from black metal to almost relaxing acoustic parts that are nicely carried by the guitar strumming. Everything sounds very good together, vocals, guitars, drums, I don?t think any of it needs any sort of ?Improvement?. Your playing is very competent and on time which is nice, but still sounds very natural. The first song is definitely a journey, but it shifts very nicely through parts, nothing sounds forced.
| DungeonBoy The mixing is good all of the parts are nice and separated out. Hope you like stream of conscious opinions, here it goes. First song, In Blissful Ignorance: I really dig the intro and it reminds me kind of Panopticon?s rural sounding acoustic bits. Love when those spoons come in. It shifts very quickly into some really interesting discordant melodies that do come across as a bit jarring to be honest, but after a few listens you expect them and they sit a little better.
| DungeonBoy I had an opportunity to listen to it several times and have a lot of opinions on it! I really enjoy what you?re doing here, it does come across as fairly unique and I have to commend you on that. First off biggest and easiest to fix criticism is the volume. Did you master this? There has to be tons of headroom to make this a bit louder. I?m all about preserving dynamic range, but I had to listen to this at 100/100 on my headphones and it was still a little quiet.
| DungeonBoy Absolutely man, I'll give it a few listens and get back to you
| zaruyache Suh-weeeeeeet. Their demo was super disgusting and I love it. Hopefully this one makes me wanna puke too ^_^
| necropig Have you checked the new Khemmis out yet? :p
| Hawks Cool thanks man, will check. m/
| necropig I them reviewed on angry metal guy the other day, hadn't heard of them, gave it 4.5/5. Listened to a track on youtube, enjoyed it a lot. Digging to help spread the name m/
| Astral Abortis You heard that new Zhrine album? Been looking forward to it for a while, I've heard many good things. Will probs jam it myself tomorrow
| Astral Abortis Been anticipating that one for foreverrr man, my cd finally shipped out this week. The band has a crazy cool Nocturnus vibe. I'm most likely gonna review it
| Gameofmetal this album's gonna be really good I think. looking like a good review pick as well
| Astral Abortis looks exactly like my kinda thing. sucks that the tape is sold out. sounds pretty rad so far. will look around for the demo tape, sometimes there are random obscure distros that have one copy left of releases like this
| Astral Abortis gonna wait for the full album before i listen to any more but yeah sick
| Gameofmetal the description in the link sounds amazing, will jam
| Astral Abortis I'm intending to review it. Hopefully Jac's hiatus from writing for metal albums will stop him from dropping a dud review about how average it is. Kid's a good writer but I don't think he gets it half the time! Or maybe we just like different things idk
| Astral Abortis Oh trust me dude, this is my most anticipated album of the year! It has everything I love about death metal from the music to the language to the imagery presented, nothing could excite me more to be honest! Glad you're as into it as I am. I showed it to Jac when the single was released and he was critically underhyped.
| emester Thanks man! Awesome way to start the morning!
| Voivod Their debut was/is awesome indeed, thanks for letting me in the know.
| Astral Abortis Already a big fan man! I got their demo tape right in the beginning and bought this CD early December last year. Amazing band.
| Voivod Fantastic find, and you are spot on regarding the style description.
| OmairSh Oh yeah that's definitely a lot of material on your list. Thanks man, will do
| OmairSh Hey lal, I see you're enjoying Pain of Salvation. Another prog metal band that is refreshing with intelligent songwriting and lyrics is Evergrey. I'd say either check out In Search of Truth, or Recreation Day (I've shared a song from each album). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnrZLgN0ap4 (ISOT), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89giDpJfbVM (RD), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ8PXXrCasE
| ComeToDaddy Damn you know what I like, I'll make sure I give it a spin before the week's over. Thanks
| Hawks Cool bro will check.
| Crysis i have not heard it, thanks for the rec will check out
| Voivod the album is on play.spotify.com. Log in with your facebook account.
| Voivod this is the link - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Nirnaeth/73366/
| Voivod They remind me of Genghis Tron.
| Voivod Very nice find, thanks for sharing, to even the score and if you like progressive thrash, I recommend you the sophomore album of an Italian band called Nirnaeth. It's up on Spotify.
| Pon great song, channeling the demilich hard
| manosg Thanks dude. I'll give it a listen.
| Hawks Cool will check bro.
| Voivod Haven't heard it yet either, be patient, the emergence of a stream is merely a matter of time.
| Pon Yeah saw the artwork and it's pretty damn sweet, album will be in the upper echelon of DM next year for sure.
| Crysis that was sweet thanks man
| Crysis that will either be absolutely brilliant or absolutely awful
| Voivod This is very interesting indeed, thanks for the heads up!!!
| Voivod Thanx for sending the link
| Voivod Cool find overall, band certainly has something going with it.
| Voivod Thanks for the link, I'm aware of the album, expected it to be better..
| emester Yeah I know, heard it over the weekend. Track absolutly kills. Honestly, I'm so hyped for the EP. Hell, it might actually be my most anticipated release of the year
| TheSpaceMan I've been jamming Jimi Hendrix Experience so much lately, it was always something I should have looked into given my tastes in music. thank you kindly sir, what are your favorite songs by the group?
| TheSpaceMan will do man, thanks so much for the recs. sorry for the late reply btw I've been sorta busy lately and havent been on sputnik much. I will definitely make it around to all these albums even if it takes a long time in normal people's eyes lmao
| TheSpaceMan hey man do you have any psych recs you wanna give me? preferably something not too heavy unless its truly worth sharing. not that I dont appreciate metal, just havent been in the mood for it lately
| Voivod Thanks for the heads up, will check on those two tunes shortly.
| Wizard ****ing awesome album, love the post blackened vibes. Hard to categorize.
| Voivod Yeah I jammed it and it sounds like Nothingface which is awesome. I will post it in the news tonight, if all go well.
| Crysis Sweet. Thanks for the link.
| TalonsOfFire That's a pretty intense listen haha, maybe symohonic progressive post-death metal-core?? And yea the new nero di marte rules. I'm actually writing a review for it now, should be up in a few days
| TalonsOfFire Listening to your rec and I'm really digging this. I probably never would've found this otherwise, thanks dude
| Willie Nevermind. Just found the song on Spotify. That one is near the end of the album. I'd say the entire rest of the new album is better than that single. I haven't heard their debut, but I love this.
| Willie Which song is the single?
| Voivod I didn't know they were on Profound Lore, one more reason to check them out I guess. You should check The Devil's Blood, they have the best female vocald with respect to all the female fronted bands that have emerged during the last decade.
| Voivod Thanks for that, I will listen to it asap
| Voivod Thanks for the heads up, try to write a news post for the single
| Pon Sounds really really good, will be checking that out
| Hyperion1001 sweet will check. doomscapes is pretty sweet. thanks.
| Jethro42 Allo! Il me reste à découvrir Stadaconé. Merci de me faire redécouvrir ce groupe!
| SgtPepper yeah, I heard this already. thanks for the heads-up though, dude. It's a quality track. What did you think of it?
| insomniac15 I tried at some point to leave this only as Elder, but as long as there's an Elder from PA-USA, it's less likely to remain without the (USA-MA) appendage. Nevertheless, they are a great band and Dead Roots Stirring is an awesome record!
| Voivod Here's the first track from the EP: https://soundcloud.com/bolzer/bolzer-steppes. Cheers!
| Voivod Thanks for that, cheers!
| Voivod Jammed your rec just know, really good album, the band has a rather diverse and adventurous style.
| Hyperion1001 yeah im gonna get to work on it soon, the album rules very hard
| Voivod I know that they're up to something, but nothing new on the news circuit..
| Voivod In the same vein, you should check out Sceptic from Poland, they are also a band worshipping Death.
| Voivod Indeed! The band sounds solid, more like Symbolic-era Death, though not as good.
| Voivod I listened to the stream, it's a solid 3.5 for sure, but I need to listen to the album with headphones, in order to absorb it in full.
| Voivod It's a good album for sure, but I haven't listened to it enough so as to write a review for it. Cheers!
