| TheSpirit pleasantly surprised with your H.A.Q.Q. rating

| klap ya no problem dude

| Brostep absolutely, go for it! jsyk tho I log in like once every 6 months so might not getting around to accepting your request for a while lol
| xxm I really like your Revival review.
| Frippertronics Back in with the new Tracey Thorn and it's relatively solid electropop-ish stuff although her voice being a lot more deeper is quite offputting. Worth a listen.
| Frippertronics Not yet, I just found out about it yesterday. I was gonna do the new Suuns but it sucks and it bores me to death, so if this ends up being good, I'll cover it instead.
| Gnocchi Hey man wanted to say thanks. Didn?t realise I?d made such an impact around here. It?s good to be back, even better to be recognised Thanks again
| TheSpirit ahhhh i gotcha. i guess it isn't very difficult, i'll just need to practice more. thanks again for all the great advice, it's super appreciated
| Trebor. Awesome! I'm excited to read it
| TheSpirit Also, just thanks again for taking the time out to converse about this.
| TheSpirit (cont.) that you can weave into an introduction somehow (your Francis and the Lights review for example.) It seems blunt to just ask "how do you do that?" since I'm sure it's a nuanced practice... but for lack of a better way express my self lol, how do you do that?
| TheSpirit Thank you so much for the insight, I really appreciate it! It's interesting (to me at least) that some of the things we do now are very similar (key sentences to branch off of, "outlining", etc...) yet your stuff always seems so much more fluid. It probably goes back to what you said about the rhythm of my words, which I'll try to be more conscious of. Last thing - you seem to frame your reviews in very "cultural" context. You have a good feel of how things fit together, or related things
| TalonsOfFire When do you want to post our interview? If you're busy I can put it together today or tomorrow.
| TheSpirit Hello. Random passerby with random question. Is there somewhere you learned how to write? Your "style" is probably one of my favorites on the site, and the style in which I envision myself wanting to write in the most. If that makes sense. Any tips or advice you could offer? Thanks :]
| TalonsOfFire Well I'll prepare a couple questions and send one, hopefully we'll both be on at the same time soon and can keep it going for an hour or 2 when we're both awake haha. You're Jordan Murray right?
| TalonsOfFire I'm good with whatever, keeping it conversational sounds fine to me. What time is good for you? You live in Australia right? If so you're 16 hours ahead of me
| Trebor. I'm gonna pair you up with TalonsOfFire. He said he would prefer to be the interviewee. You can prepare questions if you want, or just do it as a conversation, whatever you want basically.
| Trebor. Would you rather be the interviewer or the interviewee?
| neekafat Appreciate the feedback on that script, did you read the second as well?
| TheSpaceMan Merry Christmas Arcade! Hope it's a loving one.
| BlackMalachite Hey man! Would you wanna give my new album a whirl? - https://blackmalachite.bandcamp.com/album/motion
| Frippertronics congrats, that song has broken me to such a point where I...like it?! High kickin' dandy.
| Frippertronics so much for it being ~better~ than Protest Songs, my dear little Poser of Arc
| Mort. im just being a frip fanboy tbh
| Frippertronics First two PS singles for your listening and rating pleasure. Added the 1984 reissue so both are together in one database entry https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yu9yza9w3ldbx4l/AAB-jBoPOw84qIi2D43BJs8ta?dl=0
| Frippertronics well s*** Mort likes King, so we may have a convert on our heads H O T D O G
| Frippertronics Desire As and All the World Love Lovers would say otherwise
| Frippertronics If you review Langley, the summary must be in all caps: HOT DOG JUMPING FROG ALBUQUERQUE
| Frippertronics Like I said - good "pop" song, but certainly not a good PS song. Paddy has written better songs by far. Cars and Girls is a fantastic song, that I can agree with, even if that also misrepresented the band because people couldn't figure out it was all ironic.
| Frippertronics there's a Rolling Stone interview from 1990 regarding Jordan and Paddy ****ing hated King even then
| Frippertronics Only a convoluted way to get the Prefab catalogue fully reviewed if you think about it.
| Frippertronics Gonna write a guide on the Prefabs and deliberately ignore Langley Park, yr welcome :^)
| LaurenPaulson Reputation is probably the worst pop album of the decade. Can you please make a review for her release? I know it was published early by Rudy, but everyone praise it without any grounds. Thank you!
| zakalwe Trust me when I say this. You are human. You are normal. Enjoy the ride. Things get better. Things get worse. You live and learn.

| Conmaniac hahaha holy s*** are you that worried??? i'm crying rn lmao
| butcherboy I never got your email, Arc.. did you shoutbox it to me?
| Trebor. Yeah one amongst many. I've been completely obsessed with DFW for quite some time. Reading Infinite Jest in the psych ward was surreal
| Trebor. You beat me to the Dave Wallace quote
| Mort. Happy birthday you great reviewer you
| verdant thanks elliot (: appreciate it!
| Slex dude review Big Fish Theory pretty please
| LaurenPaulson Gorgeous review for Harry Styles' debut. It seems outstanding for me, as his record.Just saw that Katy Perry's very anticipated LP "Witness" was released and I was shocked how well crafted it is. I really want to see your opinion for this record.
| Flugmorph fam u wanna feature my recent list? put a lot of work into it :3
| TalonsOfFire I know how you feel, in the midst of finals but will write something up when they're done if you can't get to it.
| TalonsOfFire Hey Arcade are you still gonna review the new Slowdive?
| kascetcadettt here's a thread where you can discuss how fantastic it is to be a part of this moment: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=174557 \\\ don't be scared to share the news with other guys in case i missed someone out and keep shining in the light of this beautiful rock n roll fireplate, god bless, hasanmedia represent

| TVC15 The words of the sample just stuck out to me even more just cos it was actually spoken
| TVC15 Hmm... I was just thinking about it cos last night I was watching a gig by the band in support of Futurology. They closed the set with PCP and at the end Nicky yells the sample which was the only time in the gig a sample was integrated in some way to a Holy Bible song
| TVC15 How does the sample at the end of PCP tie into the song?
| Frippertronics sounds like a plan. have a ton of stuff on the backburner but i think i can pull a good ol "arcade/trebor" style writeup for that and the new residents since they're both incredibly s***ty
| Trebor. You can have Freddie Gibbs if you want. I have a bit too much on my plate this month
| Atari As for the shrines, they act as a teleport once you discover them (even if u don't complete the trial) so I've made a habit of skipping the ones that are a pain in the ass for later. There's a ton of shrines I've discovered where I haven't bothered with the trial yet. I do like how the combat is more challenging than recent Zelda games too
| Atari Yeah it feels a bit slow-paced at first but I definitely think that aspect improves as you get further into the game and can basically teleport to anywhere. But the world and game design are so gorgeous I don't really mind the slower spots at all. I still haven't even completed one of the main dungeons yet, and I discover something new every time I play. Apparently there are 900 korok seeds to collect and I've only found 27 lol. Glad you're digging it despite a few minor gripes :)
| danielcardoso Lol yeah i'm not even a gaming dude so i have no idea how i would even approach that.
| danielcardoso Sup mate, mind trading albums for our "random album game" thing? I dunno, guess i don't really feel comfortable approaching an OST.
| Atari I know I'd rank it highly, but it's hard to say for sure until I get further into the game. It's so massive, I haven't even started the first main dungeon yet
| Atari I'll be curious to hear what u think if u end up getting the game.
| Mort. both sounds good to me, even better if you combine them by listening to grime while applying grime to your chin and face.
| Mort. a steady diet of grime and vodka
| Jots not yet tbh what do you think
| Mort. yeah thinking about it. trying to bang out a different grime review at the moment for Kamakaze and Massapeals - Royal Blud, another 2017 grime release. seems to be grime's year at the moment
| Jom You're a big man on campus now. No need to run anything by me (but thank you for inquiring)!
| ExplosiveOranges busy again, man. it feels like i'm barely gonna have any real free time till summer, honestly. got any recs?
| neekafat Props man, keep up the great writing! :)
| DoofusWainwright Congrats on making staff, I remember when you were contrib and I was a new user - we've come a long way baby and all that :D
| theBoneyKing Thought I'd sending some congratulations your way dude, keep up the good work!
| danielcardoso Yeah probably gonna try, dunno if i'll get much out of it tho.
| manosg Congrats man, well deserved!
| KevinKC Bravo for your staffation !
| tempest-- nope, gave it a miss this year actually! there were about 2 artists I knew in the lineup. but that's my own fault for barely checking out music the past year or so. so much of my time these days is spent on work/games/podcasts that I barely find the time for new tunes. used 'time' twice in one sentence. you went though, right? thought I saw on instagram or some s***
| tempest-- wow congrats mr staffer!! v. well deserved
| Frippertronics best watch your mouth or i'll never get to this new animal collective joint
| Frippertronics i await the path of destruction you'll leave behind in your wake
| Pon told you you were blessed
| Atari congrats man, well deserved! was surprised you didn't make the cut last year, nice to have you on board :]
| Pon you are blessed mwah
| Frippertronics you're like one big failed promise in human form, it's quite wonderful
| Pon Good luck ever getting on my level scrub
| Pon I have transcended metal, I am now the free flowing quark matter at the centre of a neutron star.
| theacademy hey bud, you got an email u share round sput?
| Frippertronics real talk aside from that horrid talk talk rating, where that raw power review at?
| danielcardoso Not a fan? Lol i'll be completely honest, gave their debut a 3.5 but it has almost no replay value besides a couple of tracks scattered around. Haven't spun their recent one but i'm betting its very poor really.
| Pon hey i thought you were probably the best to ask. is the contrib pool going to having their own end of year feature like it did for 2015 with the spotlight?
| neekafat I swear, everytime I look at a review and see some really beautifully written description it turns out to have your name on it. Keep up the good work dude!
| danielcardoso Thanks for the rec buddy! Did you ever check that The Sundays album i mentioned before?
| danielcardoso Just curious, when is the users Top 50 list coming out? Let me know if you need me to improve my paragraph or anything.
| danielcardoso Honestly, do you think i have a good chance at applying for contributor this year?
| ExplosiveOranges is it too late for me to write any blurbs for the user list this year?
| Frippertronics as for arca being on it, it probably has to do with the fact it was compiled by one person and said person pretty much got all the most known acts in the scene with a few token acts to round things out (arca, clipping.)
| Frippertronics haven't even heard it yet and i think i already have several ideas for this review
| Frippertronics thinking hard about doing something for this adult swim noise compilation and the details and sample has definitely made me very worried (note: it is going to be bad bad bad)
| xxm Your J. Cole review was nice.
| Frippertronics the lead single is probably one of the better songs, but it's very misleading in context. The last song, Faith, Torn Apart, kinda tries a bit hard to replicate the emotion that made stuff like Mike and Ian Curtis Wishlist so gripping. Kind of a silly criticism, but Jamie is really sounding more and more like an incredibly fruity count chocula
| Frippertronics The point being, I shall make it ****ing rain fire onto the heathens
| Frippertronics if I wasn't bored as hell with most of the new releases, I'd up the quota. Probably going to stick with the classics for the rest of the month. Though with the new (very very average) Xiu Xiu leaking yesterday, I could get something written up for it in advance (for the purpose of posting it when it officially streams or whatever)
| Frippertronics the final betrayal in the '16 awards thread, the ego has been shattered
| Jots not really a depeche mode fan but they have a couple great albums, can't lie
| danielcardoso the sundays - reading, writing and arithmetic. dunno if you've checked em yet dude, but i reckon you'd dig.
| dimeadozenmetalhead6 the new charli/yachty tune is a massive disappointment tbh. ain't even sophie on production. tooooo plain
| Snide I am going to eventually. The album is basically City of Evil part 2, but the guitars have a notable waking the fallen vibe (with some screams here and there), and there's a multitude of other instruments similar to the self titled (like horns, chimes, etc), arguably it's their most mature album to date, and for me it's probably my second or third favorite album by them.
| ExplosiveOranges life's been hectic as of late. good to finally start to come back a bit more, though. you?
| ExplosiveOranges hey bruv, would you mind checking out the contrib proofreading thread if you get a chance?
| Snide Hey dude, would you be down to jam my new album? - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=169520
| Jots listen to something totally out of your comfort zone and just write a knee-jerk response for it and see what happens.
| Frippertronics i suppose i can whip up something for an oldie, since by the deep-rooted inclination of going for the classics, makes for an easier write up. Been thinking about doing a review for David Sylvian's first album. Very surprised it hasn't got one since Secrets of the Beehive is a bit popular with a couple of the regulars on the site.
| Frippertronics want to write something for the fka viet dong album but can't figure out how to start it and have no motivation whatseover to write wat do
| Futures is it possible to change my name back to Cloverive decided i do not like this new namethis will be the last time i ask for a name change
| Toondude10 I understand, I have work and school to deal with so I can't really write anything on here at the moment
| tempest-- lol yeah I get that. I keep trying to write some lil pieces then I'm never happy with em so I just stop and move on to the next one hahaha
| tempest-- got it downloaded actually but I've had barely any time for music lately, sad emoji. you planning a rev for it?
| KevinKC Sorry for the multiple posts. Damn computer.
| KevinKC Hello. "a mockery of analysis in the vein of Mullholland Drive" on your review of the Voidz. What do you mean by that ?
| TalonsOfFire I get that, I think a lot of the contribs have been feeling that way. Jom himself said it's been a weird year generally, and they're looking to make some further promotions given some of the big retirements that've happened like Sowing and Eli again, Hyp, Crysis etc.
| TalonsOfFire Thanks Arcade! How've you been? Haven't seen you around these parts in a while
