| Lord(e)Po)))ts this years RAP Ferreira (Milo) album was good too as well as new Coops, ANKHLEJOHN, and Rome Fortune
| Lord(e)Po)))ts Some of these might seem obvious but I'm gonna drop them anyways just in case: Cannibal Ox, Company Flow, Lil Ugly Mane, Mutant Joe, Cult of the Damned, Dr. Yen Lo, Yugen Blakrok, Dalek, Armand Hammer, Cities Aviv, Antwon, Cult Favorite, Dynospectrum, Shahmen, Dr. Octagon, Abstract Trie Unique, Onry Ozzborn, clouddead, Deep Puddle Dynamics, Edan, hock tu down
| Lord(e)Po)))ts hey sorry i didnt mean to ignore ur request i just havent been at my comp in a bit i promise i will hit u up with some recs when i get back from vacay!
| SteakByrnes I don't like Fever lol, so much wasted talent imo
| SteakByrnes Lmao damn well at least you found out about them now! That first EP is bonkers good, really aggressive Butler is best Butler. Pressure Cracks should be the band he focuses on, not Fever lol
| SteakByrnes Bro The Resistance is so strong, it's a shame the rest of the album after it kinda just dies down lol
| SteakByrnes Oh wow that's dope haha, great song choices to begin and end it with. I ended up liking Vital the most but Cities was a close second
| SteakByrnes Damn lmao that's wild, that's a sick show for 5 bucks tho. Who were they with?
| SteakByrnes Yea haha I decided to go through their discog finally, it was a good one for sure. Glad to get that one off the list
| SteakByrnes Yea it's on my list to check, I'll get to it sometime this week probably lol. I saw you reviewed it, I'll give it a read sometime soon
| Lord(e)Po)))ts Truer words are seldom spoken. Should be "ban on sight" class
| Lord(e)Po)))ts Doof and toolpeth got banned after some pressuring but gyro somehow remains smdh
| Lord(e)Po)))ts Hahaha I see doof pulled an all nighter being a raging asshat and then resident ****ing disgrace gyro joined the chat prompting the entire thread to get obliterated
| SteakByrnes Dude right?? It's got this kinda psych element to it that really works with the swancore sound, man I love the guitar work on that EP
| SteakByrnes True, even with the most safe approach there's a toll that both screaming and singing can take. Different for each person it seems as well, some can do it for years and years and others can't do more than an album's worth lol. And yea JC getting kicked out of Slaves is hilarious lol, he just can't stick in a band because of how he is man. Shame such a good voice belongs to such a s*** person
| SteakByrnes Brooooo DBM2 is so underrated, it's my second favorite behind Happiness! It's by far DGD at their best instrumentally, and man I love JC and Mess' chemistry together haha. As for Good Tiger I kinda just wish they'd go back to the first album's style, and I wish he'd bring back some screams even though I know he won't lol
| SteakByrnes Word homie, their EP is super good stuff! I'm also very surprised at the low average for Afterburner, I feel as though people heard the spanish song and just decided to hate the rest of it lol. I do like ArSe more but I like both quite a bit
| SteakByrnes Yea I'm liking the new Good Tiger singles, I gave their second album another shot a few weeks ago and liked it more than I thought I would. You ever check out Coletta? I can't remember if you have lol. And yea some of the takes on here make me want to log off and never come back lmao
| SteakByrnes Lmao hell yea brother we are the swancore brigade, it's getting kinda taxing to find new acts that are good tho unfortunately :[ And Counterparts has always been so good, glad they get such good reception here for the most part lol
| DaHound Hm. Well I'll rec you my top 3 emo albums which all sound totally different but are all amazing. Haven't checked your ratings so you may have em rated already but it's the Kolya album, Cursive's Domestica, and Nosferatu D2's We're Gonna Walk Around This City With Our Headphones On To Block Out The Noise. Gonna think of some stuff more similar to Kolya though. I'll get back to you
| DaHound I LOVE THAT ALBUM. It's my favorite emo album of all time. Every listen is just as powerful as the last and it gets better over time. For an album that's only half an hour there's so much variety in sounds and pure material presented I just love it. Resuscitation and the last 5 songs are so just godly to me
| Rigma yo joe check cat company's s/t, you'd dig
| ZombieToyDuck yeah I did the same with taking a break not too long ago and nothing too much man just hanging in there
| ZombieToyDuck hey bud I assume you didn't know of my whole username switcheroo (this is deadlynightshade) how you been dude?
| onionbubs enjoy bro. I'd probably go chronologically since you already dig s/t. incredible ****ing band. make sure when you get around to the later albums you check out the bonus tracks because more often than not theyre the best on the album lol and definitely dont miss out on remains. A lot of their best material is non album stuff, as self titled shows lol
| onionbubs look who finally listened to alkaline trio
| neekafat I might for sure! Think I might finish up their discog first haha
| neekafat I think I like Spring the best actually haha, it's got this unpredictable jazzy edge to it
| neekafat That's fair haha, and yeah they're easily digestible so I might just go for it!
| neekafat I might just cram their other two ones just for the sake of completion, even tho I'm not a huge emo guy I really enjoyed that haha
| neekafat Yeah dude I really liked "Brumous" too
| neekafat Haha this is true! Alright well I'm gonna rec you what I always rec anyone even slightly interested in folk music -- Harrod and Funck's "Live" album
| neekafat Haha I'll check Winter because of the 4.5! You into folky stuff at all?
| neekafat Sure! I'm really slow at recs haha just a heads up because I'm always listening to 5 things at once anyway lol
| neekafat Yeah, I just hope it lasts this time
| neekafat Yeah, dunno if you saw the to the list but things are doing better, not perfect but we decided to give it another shot :)
| dctarga Yes indeed, I also don't see a lot of big Primus fans so that's cool too!
| Dedes Here's the list actually http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?mode=1
| Dedes Nah it's a list Jac made. Just Google Jacquibim sputnikmusic and you can find his list from there.
| Dedes Or actually even go on Jacs (Jacquibim) thread and ask
| Dedes Actually i'm having troubles even logging in from my gf's pc (at her house) so i'd ask maybe bloon or dbizzles or pjorn or something unless you can wait a few days.
| Dedes Surprisingly, non-cancerous. It's just a massive chat where all the cool bros are. I can send you an invite if you want.
| dctarga Yeah just listened to it on my phone...I don't quite remember it being that bad lol. Still, cool song
| dctarga Yes lol, especially Recipe for Hate. The title song is great, and then I love "All Good Soldiers", it's so un-BR like but totally BR at the same if that makes any damn sense.
| dctarga Not much separates the songs honestly, its really splitting hairs when trying to pick favorites. And yeah considering when it came out maybe most folks were expecting something different, so that's a good explanation I would say. I also happen the like The Gray Race more than most
| dctarga Ok, after a fresh spin, it's really only 3; Television, Hooray for Me..., and Marked. But I like "Television" personally, fun Tim Armstrong appearance, and "Hooray for Me". It's just "Marked" that I'm not fond of, I guess it just doesn't stand out in any particular way.One of "What It Is" or "The Handshake" would probably be my favorite.
| dctarga Definitely agree on those. There are only maybe 3-4 songs that I don't think are "strong", but I never really skip any when listening to it
| dctarga I almost bumped your BR rank just to mention that lol. It's my personal favorite next to Process of Belief.
| neekafat That's great haha! Yeah she sent me a goodnight message last time about how this is "good for us" so I'm hoping things are going well on her end, trying to calm down a bit while also not getting my hopes up
| danielito19 i was just meming btw, i have top genre post-hardcore too lel
| neekafat Thanks bro, I'll be sure to keep youd :) We're roughly the same sput-age too so us newer guys gotta stick together!
| neekafat Yo, I know we haven't really talked too much in the past but I really appreciate all that you said. No matter how it turns out I just wanted to thank you for helping make my day a bit less darker
| Papa Universe What Whaaat?! ROUND 6 http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?mode=1
| DixFoo Yo! Fugue state is my favorite of all their releases, so I'd say yeah. Although there's an air of "silliness" to a lot of their work, I'd say Fugue state is their tightest album
| Papa Universe Best of the Worst Round 2, here we go:http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1053649
| hobblepot Jon makes the band for me, it sucks to see them use him less and less as each album goes by
| hobblepot it's a fantastic cover, have you heard their new summer track?
| GreyShadow You literally just made my day man, thank you so much for the appreciation. It's been wonderful talking with you and spreading the Icarus love. :)
| hobblepot Glad you got the help you needed man :) it's impossible to have a bad time listening to DGD, one of the few bands out there I literally cannot connect a bad memory too
| hobblepot I'm glad my list made you feel better, if you ever get thoughts like that again dude, just reach out to anyone, literally anyone who will listen, and they'll help you. I hope you're doing better now dude, dgd forever
| Dedes Also as soon as you can get on that new album because it is by far and large their best.
| Dedes you better fool ;) lol thanks man, hard to believe that i'm at the point where a lot of users know me. God I remember when I was just a lurker and I knew literally no one, god has that changed. Can't wait to see more reviews from you !
| ZombieToyDuck Its been a few years for me man and it wasn't until last year I made an account on here.
| ZombieToyDuck yeah man probably my favorite genre though this site has greatly expanded my genre palette
| ZombieToyDuck Looking through your ratings and I dig 'em man you have basically the same taste in music as me haha
| Dedes Is that not an option?
| Dedes Dude some dorms are way too pricey, I get that their closer to the college but man some of them just aren't worth the price.
| Dedes Well i'm going to college but i'm divide between Luzerne community college or a community college down near Philly. My girlfriend and her friend are both going to Temple (pretty good college in Philly) next year so that way we could pay for rent 3-ways so i'm likely going with that but hey who knows.
| GreyShadow Oh totally, Love, Always Leviathan is my favorite song by them so that one is always a treat. Hopefully one day soon we'll get a full set where we get the lesser known ones thrown into the mix
| GreyShadow I felt the exact same way! Can't beat a $12 show either. My only complaint is that they always play the same exact songs when I see them when their discog is pretty big. But granted, they have changed lineups quite a bit and I'm sure they really wanna give their popular songs some attention so oh well. They are always amazing regardless
| GreyShadow I love seeing Icarus live, they have a wonderful stage presence. Joey adds some screams into the mix for songs that don't normally have them and they sound super sick. Plus they are some of the nicest people
| kascetcadettt here's a thread where you can discuss how fantastic it is to be a part of this moment: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=174557 \\\ don't be scared to share the news with other guys in case i missed someone out and keep shining in the light of this beautiful rock n roll fireplate, god bless, hasanmedia represent
| kascetcadettt sieg hi it's-a me smooth brotha from the umpteenth block taggin' em trainz comin' from your favorite station, word on the street is (artuma is gay) my new album came out recently and if that's the last thing i ever do let it be, leavin' the link in your hands my man: http://poleyounger.bandcamp.com/album/go-daylight \\\ feel FREE to 1 it if u didn't like my agressive self promotion campaign, feel FREE to thank me if this album saved your life
| Dedes Yeah I've watched short documentaries on them, they're really freaky. Maybe I can incorporate them somehow.
| Dedes The catacombs? Like the Paris catacombs?
| Ebola much love. stay dank
| Dedes Falls of Rauros are amazing, I think soon they're playing with bands like Pig Destroyer, Immolation, Benighted, and Panopticon pretty soon. I want to say at the Theater of Living Arts (that's in Philadelphia btw). If you want other moderately similar bands the best I can rec you is definitely Panopticon and Saor (Roads to the North by Panopticon and Aura by Saor are my personal favorites). They aren't super similar, but both are a much more mellow folkish black metal.
| hobblepot I've listened to some Hail the Sun, will definitely check more of their stuff out!
| Dedes You're a good man joe.
| hobblepot He's a fantastic drummer, shame the new ALLB album is gonna be ass probably
| Dedes Since you like some of the less linear black metal bands like Deafheaven I think you might dig this (the sounds much different but you said you were a metal novice and figure'd i'd help yoy expand somewhat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax7qTj0aA9A
| bgillesp The guitar was great in this album, but otherwise, it sounded like a cheap knock off of Circa Survive. The vocalist was not as strong as Green in either vocals or lyrics. It was still an enjoyable listen, though, save for a couple annoying bits. Disqualified For Not Being Prog Rock But Would Not Have Won Anyway/5 = 3.5/5
| GreyShadow both of those singles really grew on me.I feel like when I heard about the album being primarily singing, I assumed more stuff along the lines of Lemon Party but nothing even comes close to Lemon Party here
| hobblepot I really enjoyed Sianvars album, like a lot. Will Swan can touch any album and turn it to gold
| GreyShadow I like the new letlive. but not even close to as much as other releases. It has some good stuff. Plus, Nu Romantics and Foreign Cab Rides are great
| GreyShadow I'm interested. They have Matt Coate singing and from what I've heard he sounds great. If anything I'm disappointed because I wanted to see how they could take their sound further but this seems like it will be quite the different release
| GreyShadow I'm glad you dig man! Icarus is easily one of the best bands I listen to and A Lot Like Birds is always a great time too!
| hobblepot Yeah I heard too, new album is gonna suck. And I haven't gotten round to listening to it yet, but I'm going to very soon
| hobblepot I didn't really like them at first, but now I've really gotten into them. Conversation Piece is excellent, Truly Random Code is my favourite, as well as Think Dirty Out Loud. No Place is one of the most interesting and insance concept albums I've ever heard, I really recommend you listen to it through a few times dude. It took me a while to get into it, but now I think it's one of the best albums I've ever heard
| hobblepot Purple Reign is one of my fav dgd tracks, and yeah, People You Know is one hell of a ride. Are you an ALLB fan?
| hobblepot In an interview Jon said his lyrics are more often than not what comes to his mind when he listens to the demos Will sends him. He said a lot of the time he's not trying to write a coherent song, but make his lyrics flow really well with the music. I think that all must have started around DBMII because his lyrics on Death Star make sense a lot of the time, even if they are a bit too on the nose at some points. Acceptance Speech and IG have some of his best lyrics I think
| hobblepot s*** dude that sucks, well don't worry, there'll be on on ebay soon enough, might be a bit more pricey but theres 500 being pressed so I wouldn't think it would be re-sold for too much
| hobblepot I got the cocaine christmas jumper bundle, and then found they're repressing all their albums on coloured vinyl again, so I splurged. They're re-pressing all of them from Royal Ocean to Instant Gratification
| hobblepot Mothership is ****in gold, Dance Gavin Dance are just THE best band. They've released limited edition pasta sauce for christmas, named after the lyric in Chucky
| hobblepot I actually really enjoy Hesitant Alien, one of the b-sides he released from the album this year hit me so hard I paid $30 for it
| hobblepot so you've heard it too! Yeah, it was s***e. Frank Iero is doing some pretty interesting stuff right now, have you heard his two 2016 albums??
| hobblepot That entire cover album was awful, I'll admit a few tracks were interesting, but only for taking the songs in a different direction. The rest were literally just covers and offered no variation on the originals. Ghost Towns cover was pretty interesting in my opinion, and whoever covered Sleep did an okay job, but the rest sucked. Not nearly as s*** as that Kerrang does American Idiot disc though, now THAT, was horrendous
| hobblepot If I'm being perfectly honest, twenty one pilots only have one good album anyway, Vessel. I found their self titled to be overly long, and Blurryface is just, well, boring. The first 4 or so songs I enjoy to a certain degree, but everything from track 5 onwards is dreadfully dull
| hobblepot They often get a bad rap because of their annoying fanbase, some of them can be too much, to the point even the band began to question if they enjoyed the music or if they just wanted to sleep with Gerard.
| hobblepot The Ghost of You, Sleep, Save Yourself, This Is the Best Day Ever, Kill All Your Friends, Disenchanted, Helena, You Know What They Do..., The Jetset Life... just to name a few, there aren't many songs by them I don't like in some capacity. I have them 5'd cos of my strong nostalgia for them, I still have every single CD they've released, and all their studio albums on vinyl. They used to be my favourite band, still remain one of the biggest bands to mold my musical taste and views. You a fan?
| hobblepot IG is still my fav album of theirs, On the Run is one of the best singles the band has done, and Awkward to this day is my favourite DGD track
| Storm In A Teacup haha you're good man I STILL accidentally shoutbox myself. hope those recs are proving fruitful
| hobblepot Jon is beautiful, fav screamer. Their setlist was awesome, they all came on to sing Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most, which was awesome. Jonny was wasted the whole night though, he could still sing, but he was stumbling around the stage. Every other member was drinking water (Jon also had a squeezy bottle of honey and lemon) and Jonny was drinking cider
| hobblepot Only just found your shoutbox post, yeah I'm doing much better now! Thankyou for checking up on me, makes me feel better :) I actually went to see DGD on the 8th, show was awesome, afterwards Jon Mess came onto the stage to grab his wallet and he shot me smile
