| Storm In A Teacup Did you like Giant For a Day? You bought it in 2017 and never commented again if you liked it
| Divaman Hey SCREAM!, where ya at? Friday's got a new prog contest starting up with a few places left if you're interested.
| Hawks Holy hell didn?t even know they had something coming tbh, nice. m/
| RunOfTheMill Sweet, glad to know that, I'll keep an eye out!
| RunOfTheMill Thanks for the list in Hawks' thread dude. You've got me interested in Messe des Morts too... Are the tickets already sold out tho?
| Aiwaz if you ever fly planes, do NOT do what I did lol. enjoy! https://youtu.be/XwBNr1f3NXU
| Aiwaz enjoy! https://youtu.be/sepeh2izgOE
| Aiwaz It's coming soon. Last I heard, Vurtox is getting people to help fund the album. Mixed thoughts on that.
| Aiwaz New Disillusion soon man. PSYCHED!
| Jethro42 Ya right, it's the jam. That and Scheherazade that is full of changes. The rest is a warmup for these two songs. Band is so versatile. Album is so pleasant, it's like a live best of. They all are at the top of their game. Annie really shines. Mother Russia is so powerful, it gives me shivers everytime. Cheers man.
| Jethro42 Good acquisitions, mate. I own that grandiose live Renaissance album on vinyl (have fun!), and Show of Hands on video-cassette. I've only heard the first Starcastle album couple times. I quickly gave it a 3.5, so I might reconsider that rating. Don't forget about Cano and Fabio Zuffanti in between your listenings. Enjoy bud!!!
| Jethro42 La Quarta Vittima is a classic prog album in my book, with mellotron and full of hooks. It's on youtube. And what new albums did you get instead (not sure you would dig Barde)?
| Jethro42 Nope, never heard but their album Barde is on you tube. It's a blend of traditional folk with Celtic. De la musique du temps des fetes lol. In that vein, you'd better go with La Bottine Souriante, Michel Faubert or Suroit, but it's not rocking at all. If you could find the excellent second Cano album, it's a prog folk band, kinda close to Garolou. btw, I have another rec fo you, not quebecois this time, but Italian. An accessible, catchy modern prog effort from Fabio Zuffanti - La Quarta Vittima
| Sharkattack Yo I need your rec for round 2 man. If you don?t wanna do it just let me know and I?ll eliminate yyoi
| Aiwaz lemme know what you think brohttps://youtu.be/bc0347l57Yo
| Friday13th Prog tourney this Monday, Memorial day!
| Jethro42 I'm going to do some research of some quebec prog artists, thanks to that site. Maybe it will lead me to other obscure musicians from my hometown. I thank you for that, buddy. That prog expert guy at your music store even knows his quebec prog well. I'd like to hear him talk about prog to a larger extent!
| Jethro42 It's always rewarding to meet a prog expert. I also frequent a music store specialized in prog and in metal, and the staff knows very much the prog. They know how to inform you about compatible music from every country and eras, based on your taste, Thanks for the site, I found some bands/artists I forgot about, and some are even not proggers. I'm more like a British and Italian prog connoisseur since I grew up with it. Nul n'est prophete en son pays.
| DinosaurJones Hey, I started up a new rec contest now that ZTD is done with his, if you're interested in participating.
| Atari I did a sampling of their discog before hearing Kong Vinter but yeah I'm excited to spend more time on them. VII from the debut is an early favorite!
| Atari made a slight change to my taake review so now it doesn't sound like I'm suggesting him branching out is anything new. cheers! It's nice to be challenged rather than people just saying good review with no real insight.
| Friday13th Nice! Yeah, the vocals don't do much for me, but some gnarly riffs. The one around 1:50 perfectly captured what I want to hear in terms of melody but with that microtonal edge.
| Friday13th Which song in particular would you recommend to best showcase the microtonal aspect?
| Friday13th Might be different enough for me! haha I'll check it.
| Friday13th w. some exceptions like Opeth and stuff with textures and variety
| Friday13th Not really, brah. The heaviest metal I dig a lot is thrash.
| Feather Is that what my name makes you think of? Song was pretty good, never listened to her before
| ZombieToyDuck hey man, check my new rec contest need a few more entries!
| EphemeralEternity wouldn't even bother responding man you might as well be talking to a brick wall with that guy, not to mention he seems to have a penchant for strawman arguments
| Frippertronics with the approval of the higher ups, i am compiling a new album and would like peeps who heard their works, etc. to vote http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=596c713ae4b004432b10717b
| Essence get out and do any shooting lately?
| evilford that actually looks like a real rating gj. nice bongripper ratingz btw
| Toad thanks man, much appreciated! very new to the genre but very interested and it's great to have these recs
| Essence awwwwwwwww man that sucks proper, I totally understand, I am finding it really difficult to get time to take pictures with the waning light of the midwest. Plus it's been almost nonstop cloudy, so if I really want to take photos I have to do it on the weekend, when I usually have plans. I hope you come back to it soon, I liked your content!
| Essence ay how come you never post to IG or 500px anymore
| ScuroFantasma Check this out. Movement seven strongly reminds me of parts of the Harry Potter soundtrack actually. But yeah, same composer from Danse Macabre, and although it's not as good overall imo parts of it are really cool: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8F1a3LoDJGg
| ScuroFantasma Wow, that was really, really cool. I swear I've heard brief snippets from it before, I really dig it. It's kinda playful, and yet the melody (particulalry that violin) skilfully uses some pretty dissonant chords. Cheers for the link, I'll check some of this guys other pieces for sure.
| Hawks Hahahaha yeah I was thinking about it, but I'm not gonna write one. I don't think I'd be able to do it enough justice.
| Hawks As long as you at least 3.5 I'll be satisfied.... ;]
| Hawks I haven't stopped jamming it since midnight last night. I'm hooked lol.
| Hawks Hope you dig the new Coldworld bro. m/
| Astral Abortis G.I.S.M., RAPES, Zouo, ZyanosE, Kriegshog, Death Side, G.A.T.E.S., Gauze, The Swankys
| ZippaThaRippa Sorry your tournament died bro. It would be cool to do another BM one though. Guess there isn't much of an audience for DM around here anymore. P.S. Halluomi is the shiiiiiiiiiit, get some!
| MO **** yea. yo btw my band is opening for Psycroptic, Beyond Creation and that new Zenith Passage band. June 27th. not sure if those bands are your thing but it will be a big show
| MO oh man halloumi is one of the most delicious cheeses ever bro. you can eat it raw, but the best way is to cook it over a stove or barbecue. it's sooooo good. you can get it at any middle eastern market. there's a good one on St.Laurent if you're around that area m/
| e210013 Ok. man. Thanks a lot. Now I'm going to visit Rome, tomorrow, for 5 days. So, I'm only going to organised the visit to Prague, later. If I have any kind of doubts, as you don't mind, I will put them to you, then. Cheers.
| e210013 I've read that you was in Amsterdam and Prague in the last week. I was already in Amsterdam two years ago. It's really a great city and a nice place to visit. However I never has been in Prague, but I hope to vist it in the begining of July. What you have to say about Prague? It's an interesting place to go? Which places you advise me to visit? I really appreciate your oppinion, man, if you are interested in give it. Cheers.
| manosg Hey Simon, is it safe to expect a review for the new SIG:AR:TYR?
| Hawks I know right, he's probably like 14 lol.
| Deathconscious Must be. Oh well, I'm still glad I got them, I think they're pretty great for the price.
| Deathconscious I'm still loving them, even more than when I first got them. And yeah, I thought the same thing. They definitely sound fuller after being broken in. I'm listening to Downfall of Gaia right now and the drums sound fantastic. I don't really have any gripes with them either anymore, except once in a while at certain frequencies I might get a tiny bit of crackling or static. You ever get that?
| Friday13th Thought you might enjoy this: https://youtu.be/g1edoJH9iGI
| Buccaneer They sound good, was thinking of getting neutral sounding phones. Ended up getting the DT770 instead, and they may be what you're after. I've tested it with a few genres, and the bass is pretty prominent but not overpowering. Similar price to the M40x as well (in the UK at least). Cheers for the info though, it was helpful
| Buccaneer How are the ATH-M40x holding up dude? Still haven't decided on which phones to buy...
| hal1ax weird lo-fi sludgy bm from belgium. u might dig idk /// https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maQRbvahVFE
| demigod! thanks, dude. i may have to take you up on that some time. never had bubble tea before..
| Deathconscious cool, yeah idk the general consensus out there seemed to be that theyre very neutral headphones so idk, maybe he was thinking of the M50's which are known to have a bit more bass. but im just gonna go with these, they sound like nice headphones. thanks for the info man \m/
| Deathconscious hey, how do those M40Xs sound when playing some pretty chaotic metal? i see some people saying the bass is too much for metal.
| Hawks For sure, I haven't heard most of the albums in the tourney so I'm pretty pumped.
| Hawks Sweeeeeeet thanks bud. Also pretty sure my nomination is gonna get blown out of the water lol.
| Hawks **** yeah bro, just submitted my pick.
| BallsToTheWall Didn't see your comment on my list till now. Of coursr I've seen and been around snow.
| MO hell yea dude, they're so damn good. lemme know if you need a ticket m/
| MO yea man thanks it's going to be a siiick show. you goin'?
| Hawks Check my Arizmenda review bro.
| Hawks Wish I had a record player cause I'd most likely invest in that too because that sounds like a deal that can't be passed up tbh.
| Hawks Must've got a pretty sweet deal on it then hahaha.
| Hawks Damn how much did that cost you? Hahaha
| Hawks I'm 3 tracks into the Batushka album, ****ing slays. Sounding like an easy 4.
| Hawks Didn't have time to jam yet bro, probably tonight. m/
| Hawks I'll have to jam that tonight bro. m/
| Frippertronics i'll just see what I can do when I head down to my record store tomorrow, the owner knows more about this than I do
| Frippertronics it could be, but the two other settings give me nothing and when i turn the receiver down it's not audible. i can't be bothered to fiddle with it any longer tonight so i guess I'll have to give it a crack again tomorrow
| Frippertronics thanks man, however there's a new problem. the audio sounds like total garbage. does yours sound that bad?
| Frippertronics it's a mix of the common, uncommon and possibly rare stuff. I plan on ripping stuff from Black Friday, which hopefully includes the new Sunn O http://www.discogs.com/user/BookofGenesis/collection
| Frippertronics Hold up, I got it. My laptop being wonky as usual, needed me to put it in as a headset of all things. Of all the times I felt like a complete dumbass, this takes the cake. Cheers dude, I got some s***ty prog records to rip (hit me up if you got any you want me to rip, I got some stuff that isn't available digitally at all)
| Frippertronics I'm doing any possible setting on audacity and it just doesn't do anything. It feels like I'm doing something wrong, but I can't put my finger on what it is.
| Frippertronics well my receiver has an output for tape as well (which record vinyl onto cassette) so i used that and it didn't work. Usually, in tutorials, audacity shows an input/output from the signal but my audacity shows absolutely nothing.
| Frippertronics okay i tried the aux method and it didn't work, so i have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I also have an RCA to 3.5" that I plugged into the tape output on my receiver which doesn't work either. Any tips?
| Hawks Ok I'll jam tonight.
| Hawks I know bro I gotta see if it's on Spotify. If not I'll try Bandcamp, but if those things fail then I'm ****ed hahahaha.
| YakNips hey fam can you check a few lines i wrote in french and make sure i'm not butchering the language
| Hawks Yeah bro it's probably gonna end up in my top 5 at the end of the year, at least top 10.
| Hawks Misthyrming ****ing slays so hard.
| Hawks I didn't get a chance bro I ended up being busy, def tonight though I promise. ;]
| Hawks Cool I'll jam tonight my man.
| Hawks I haven't cause they're not on Spotify, I tried. Do they have s Bandcamp?
| Hawks Dude jam the album I just reviewed I think you'll love it.
| evilf0rd idk. idk if they could see like matching IP addresses or something. I thought I was pretty sneaky about it lol. guess not. shan't do that again.
| evilf0rd I got bored and made that "iamwhatarethetodds" user and trolled up a few threads, got banned pretty quick and they knew it was me apparently so they banned my main for 2 months. never made an alt before so I didn't know they'd find out so easily it was me. oh well, it was a retard moment anyways. live and learn
| Hawks Hell yes it is hahaha. But thanks bro you too!
| Hawks Bro none of my friends dig my music, I played Burzum for my friend Scott the other day and you should've seen the look on his face lol.
| Hawks I'll jam that tomorrow bro, got off work early and I'm about to start drinking so it's gonna be a long night hahaha.
| Hawks It's pretty different than the EP, but I think it's even better.
| Hawks It will never stop lol. But yeah dude I dig the new Deafheaven hard too. Did you listen to Fox's album yet? It's in my top 5 of the year, I think you'd dig it.
| Hawks Come on bro I'm s Cradle fanboy you should've known lol. But yeah I plan on listening to that one for sure. :]
| SachikoM Fair enough. At least you gave it a go. It's all about mood for me. I'm either in the mood for it, or I'm in the mood for anything BUT it.
| SachikoM Did you end up listening to vomir?
| Frippertronics ayy was planning on getting that Sunn reissue but I'm restricting myself due to the new Bowie box set coming next week and a record show that Sunday.
| Hawks No prob bro, keep them zingers coming lmao.
| Hawks Bro holy s*** your comment on Relinquished's list had me literally lol'ing all night lmao. Honestly might've been the best comment I've ever seen here and there's been some gems.
| PunchedPeach72 only a trve pleb would give ****in spongecore a 5 but give dodencvnt a 1
| Nimb49 Doesn't surprise me tbh. It isn't too far removed from ambient/drone.
| MO check my latest list we just released it in full!!! give 'er a rip man! let me know what you think :D
| MO maaan would've been cool to see you at the show, Incantation were godly
| Hawks Damn I'm gonna have to jam.
| Hawks Hahaha I've heard some Rush before bro, haven't heard a whole lot though.
| DominionMM1 stop by homeshttp://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?mode=1
| MO thanks for checking the tune, hopefully you dug it bro. we're going to ****ing bring it at the Incantation show make sure you peep us!
| SharkTooth only 14 hours left to vote in the current round
| hal1ax dude have you ever listened to Bethlehem-Dictius Te Necare? you might dig. vocals are ****ing subhuman
| Hawks Ok bro, haven't been on the site in a few days I'll check the list now.
| emester Same here. That album might as well be one of the best BM records of the past 5 years. Only one that beats it from that time frame imo is Paracletus. Sterile Seeds is amazing and all, but I personally prefer The Perpetual Nothing.
| emester I'm listening to Svartidaudi's full length again and its even better than I remember. The new EP was great but Flesh Cathedral is at another level. Pretty sure it will end up winning the tournament.
| Balerion Hey SCREAM! I would like to propose Dispirit - 111112 for the blackest tourney round 3. It is the current black metal project of John Gossard formerly of Weakling. https://dispirit.bandcamp.com/album/11112
| SpiritCrusher2 hey man, thanks for the reminder. I had only so much time to listen to Troll the other day, forgot about the second one after that, checking it now.
| hal1ax ya it's pretty cool stuff. just good ass reverberation drenched depressive bm. It reminds me of Filosofem.
| hal1ax ay can you edit my description for the zuriaake album i nominated? just change atmospheric blackgaze to atmospheric black metal. I don't know why i put blackgaze. Was listening to too much Lantlos that day or something.
| YakNips definitely gonna have to vote sabbat bruh
| YakNips aight thats fine im jamming fire and steel rn
| YakNips what is the deadline? ive just heard sabbat
| Hawks No prob bro, I'm gonna jam again right now too haha.
| Hawks Ok I got a good one haha. Put dat s*** on the list. ;]
| Hawks Just saw that and was wondering which album I should nominate lol.
| Hawks Throw some recs my way broski.
| Hawks The only time I really jam prof rock is when it's mixed with other styles haha. Not that I wouldnt dig it by itself.
| Hawks Check my new review bro.
| fromtheinside well. i mean you haven't plugged me in a while. what's a guy to do.
| fromtheinside everything is explainable if we were still friends.
| fromtheinside so i'm about to walk to the store and guess what...? yes, i'm finally about to listen to aggys new album
| Hawks That and the title crack are probably the best songs on the album actually. You'll dig the rest too I'm sure. But yeah I'll let you know what I think I'm either gonna jam it tonight or tomorrow night after work. m/
| Hawks I've listened to it twice so far and it's really good. Def the most experimental Leviathan yet.
| Hawks I saw you commented on that thread, looks interesting. I'm jamming new Leviathan now then gonna jam Noctus' album/demo/whatever it is. I'll give that one a listen after that lol.
| Hawks True I gotta do it soon. I haven't been able to listen to s***.
| Hawks I haven't, I'm trying to get the energy to do it lol. I lost so much s*** I don't feel like re downloading everything I had. It would take forever.
| Hawks I feel you. All my music gotd so I haven't been able to listen to s*** lately. Dunno if I already told you that lol.
| Hawks Scream my man, not much just working. What's going on with you?
| controlled i just wanna say how inspiring your st. anger review is : )
| controlled remember when i thought you flipped the record LIVE!
| puntugruhm i got into your recs. thankyou, they were super great, im digging neofolk right now.
| puntugruhm yeah i know rush, and im not a huge fan, but have much respect for their career.
| puntugruhm oh, ok, thats great. i like prog rock, but prefer the hard rock/psych bands from the late 60-early 70s, and have gotten super into the genre over the past year. bands like power of zeus, elias hulk, jeronimo, blue cheer, sir lord baltimore, leaf hound, road, yesterdays children, the list goes on...
| puntugruhm puntugruhm i try to keep up. i looked at your prog rock battle, and noticed you didnt put up any camel. check them out if you havent.January 22 03:30 PM
| puntugruhm trvth- trvth be toldraison d'etre- the empty hollow unfoldsnorthaunt- horizonsphelios- gates of atlantisalso check my bm list and dark ambient list isd.

| Flugmorph u know that still life is their best one don't u snuggly bunny hm?
| osmark86 same stuff. got an exam coming up on friday that I'm trying my hardest to get ready for. oh well, after that it's xmas times and join a plenty (freedom).
| osmark86 how's it mein? long time no see. going through a phase of blackened bulls*** atm? if so, noice!
| MO good stuff dude thanks! it will be on the program Hammer Smashed Radio, sometime between 10-11
| MO oh s*** my bad. 10pm duder
| MO hey man. if you find yourself by a radio tonight tune into CKCU 97.1 for a new single from my band's upcoming EP. you can also listen online. it would be awesome if you could spread it around...only if you dig it of course! thanks dude m/
| OmairSh Nicee. I'll have to check the Night Watch. Yeah the drums were loud, especially being in the front row. Were you in the front row? Still this is the first time they came to Canada, and for $15 it would be nuts to miss the chance to see them. Hope they come again to support their next album. Saw POS today, my ears are still ringing. Met the band as well, was a great night. They played mostly older stuff. Wish they had played Disco Queen though, that would have been fun.
| OmairSh I'll check them out. How was the concert?
| OmairSh Unfortunately Einar was feeling ill right at the end, so they couldn't play Forced Entry :( :( :(, apparently he puked when he went off the stage. Hopefully he's feeling better today. They played cool tracks like Passing, Foe (great way to open a concert), restless (of course), chronic, and the cloak. They even played Acquired Taste. Other band members were around while the other bands were playing so I talked to them every now and then and got pictures taken. Was a great night, you'll have fun
| OmairSh Yeah dude some fans went a couple of times to the sound engineer to tell him about the mixing issue, and even a couple of band members were signalling to him. I'm sure it won't be a problem tomorrow. But dude the performance was ****ing terrific, and the supporting video was badass! The supporting bands were local bands that I hadn't heard of before, one of them had a cool stoner rock/prog vibe. Bought their new shirt, it's got a more twisted design than Bilateral's cover, ****ing coo s***.
| OmairSh It was great! The keyboards and vocals were really low in the mix, the sound engineer messed up in that regard, but it was intense otherwise. I got to stand right in front. Headbanging, screaming and just having a good time. Definitely will see them if they come again. Pain of Salvation tomorrow!
| OmairSh Yo what up. Which other bands are performing with Leprous during their tour?
| climactic still listening to it now, but new agalloch is ruling hard. cant help but feel like a lot of people were swayed by those negative reviews.
| fromtheinside SHOTS FIRED!!! damn i seriously might finally listen. it's been sitting on my computer since the leak i've just been so worried
| fromtheinside whoa wait a minute. you love the aggy now!?!?! will read tonight. promise :D
| fromtheinside HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no but srsly i will do one of those things
| fromtheinside cause, yak. haha no no no... (backpedaling) cause, scream.
| fromtheinside dude. crucial jam sesh - http://plug.dj/everything-is-riffs/
