 | Insurrection i didnt even realize the intro guitar was mimicked during the chorus. the title track is easily my favorite off the album though- love the chorus and the guitar motif. id say siren charms is the weakest IF album but its still average at worst imo

 | Puzzles Ah okay so it looks like finding a drummer might be a little easier than I thought. I suppose I'll keep a few drum tracks handy as well as the entire recordings on my ipod and just ask drummers I meet. My concern was that there are a lot of ghost notes and most of the accents are on the off beat, while there are fairly solid hi-hat and kick rhythms behind them. It could probably be dumbed down live. Thanks for the help dude!!!

| Puzzles I was thinking that for certain parts (ie that first section), when playing live there could be the electronic beat going as a MIDI track and the drummer could just free jazz improv over the top. The closest thing to that is like what Death Grips do live. Anyway, I programmed the drums with realism in mind but because I'm not a drummer myself (though I have a pretty extensive knowledge of theory) I don't have that practical perspective.

| Puzzles Actually I'd be interested to know, how does the drumming on that track look to you from a technical perspective? The reason I ask is that I'm not really sure how difficult it would be to find a drummer that would be able to play that style. It's more or less modeled off a Steve Judd/Drew Goddard sort of style and so, would a typical metal drummer be able to learn that style without much difficulty or am I going to have to look out for the jazz/mathcore sort of drummer?

| Puzzles Nah dude, either later this year or early next year I'll put a record out. I'm moving to somewhere in Europe next year, and from there I'm going to start touring. I've got to find a drummer that can play this s*** first, and one never knows where to find one hahah

| Puzzles Hahah yeah it was ridiculous work, I shot the first half at school (using Art as an excuse lol) so things were pretty packed. I'm actually changing the name again, because the guys from Cog decided to take the name (plus there are about ten bands out there using some variation of Occupants now). What do you think of Venusian as a project name?

| CaptainDooRight thanks brewf, yea I def wasn't intentionally trying to make each track that long it was just the style of writing I was going for at the time which was mainly to allow ideas to develop and expound upon each other in a more progressive fashion. Whereas if I was doing a more straight forward dm song it would be much shorter. It's kinda hard to sacrifice those necessities without compromising the musiq. Cheerz

 | JohnnyoftheWell Thanks man, you've given me a lot to think on; the drums, sadly, are unlikely to change anytime soon (on future releases) simply because I don't know anyone who plays that has enough time to record, but I'll think about developing ideas in future (I've got 2 songs ready for my next release that share a theme and are structurally similiar but sound completely opposite to each other)

 | DoubtGin I agree. It's actually not that horrible, but I expected something different from Incubus.Until now, they somehow managed to surprise me with each consecutive album and I can't find that many interesting moments on this one.

| DoubtGin It pains me to see them release something as bad as If Not Now, When?, because they are one of my favourite bands. But this album sounds too tame and safe. I hope they will get their act together the next time.

| DoubtGin It pales in comparison to everything they released before (even Light Grenades or Fungus Amongus). Band basically goes on autopilot. Songs are always centered around Brandon's (still great) voice (feels like a solo record, to be honest). Especially the musicianship is a let down, because the other members sound really bored. The only song I enjoyed was the single (and it is still one of the weaker stuff they released, in my opinion).
