  • DungeonBoy I listened to it in full yesterday, and wanted to let you know I think this is the best thing you've ever done. I was enthralled from start to finish. The theme was well executed without being cheesy, and the production and playing was phenomenal. I love the soft piano you used throughout, it was very intimate and really captured the vibe. Good stuff, honestly

  • DungeonBoy Hey man! I do want to hear the new album :) I checked out the track you sent and enjoyed it but also felt it needed more context within the full album so I will definitely be checking, and let you know what I think. Ambient singles are tricky because I always feel like it's the entire experience start to finish for those types of albums

  • DungeonBoy Hey Grayson, just wanted to let you know that the new Rota Fortunae album is out now if you wanted to give it a listen. I made a list with a couple links to the stream and would love to hear your thoughts on it: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=594971

  • FurtherDown Plus, internet is full of quite cheap DIY noise boxes and drone machines that are perfect for this type of music, I used Nandamonium by Synthrotek, which is a perfect little machine, then this crazy thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q17EXnp3t0 and finally some tape recordings. Thank you for your kind words man!

  • FurtherDown s***, now I see that this form probably cut my long description of my recording setup. Sorry for that, I don't know how this shotboxes work. :D Anyways, the album was recorded DIY in Audacity and it comprises mostly of Korg Minilogue, Korg Volca Keys and plenty of effects (mostly delays, reverb and tons of distortion).

  • FurtherDown Hey man, sorry for the late response
    April 26 02:22 PM
  • Jom It's not too late because Atomic is giving users a few hours to submit things post-1th hour. Adding it now. Cheers!

    July 14 11:26 PM
  • Addy1997 i had no idea, honestly. but this is incredible in like every way

  • Bedex Hey man, per the band the tracks were the same, but were unmastered on the EP version and were only mastered for the full-length release. Fairly indistinct according to them. So I reckon we're fine saying the EP is the best
    November 4 07:29 PM
  • Bedex Sure will let you know!
    November 1 07:36 PM
  • Bedex Cheers buddy no worries, I'll continue my investigation then - thanks! Trying to find out bcs the EP takes my least favourite track of the LP so if the tracks are the same I'd call it the EP a better record lol

  • Bedex Hey man, do you happen to know if the tracks on Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss EP are the same as on the LP, or are they different versions (whether in terms of composition or just prod)? Saw you rated it and was wondering

  • DungeonBoy Honestly man, I enjoy your stuff! I think it's great. I listen to it frequently while I'm at work, and it puts me in a very peaceful mood. I might be a little biased because we are in communication and I respect what you are doing, but I think it would be a shame if you stopped creating new music. Looking forward to whatever you do next (:

  • JS19 Also I spy you're a fellow Reason user too - how are you finding it (I love it)
    July 23 06:19 PM
  • JS19 Thanks a lot mate - went a bit more low key this time! I see you have got a new one out soon too which I'm excited to hear :)
    July 23 06:18 PM
  • fromrows SAPoodle! Thanks a lot for listening and the great comment, its means the world to me:)! I just used an old crappy recording program I had on my computer, which barely works anymore, but thanks for being intersedted:)! Hahaha Yeah you cannot go wrong with Converge as one of your favorite band:)!

  • DungeonBoy Hey man, sorry for the long response time, I've been away for a bit, I sent a reminder to one of the main label owners for him to check it out, and am still awaiting a response. I'll send him another reminder soon but I apologize for the delay in response!

    February 28 11:55 PM
  • DungeonBoy Awesome dude, well keep me in the loop with everything
    January 29 02:39 PM
  • DungeonBoy Cheers man! that's awesome. I've spent 2018 writing a full length, and I just finished recording the first song (out of maybe 10 or 12) it's a lot, but I'm really excited to record and finish it at some point this year. Are you still working on music? I still listen to your latest at work a lot when I'm sitting at the computer :)
    January 28 01:45 PM
  • DungeonBoy Only the good stuff dude :)
    August 13 03:16 PM
  • JS19 Thanks dude - honestly it's just me! I work with some pictures I either take myself or acquire from mates or people I'm inspired by and mess around until I end up with something I like - hardly impressive :' )
    March 25 06:59 PM
  • DungeonBoy Thanks so much for the support man, I still listen to that new Claustrophobia track quite often! I love the atmosphere on it. It's so suffocating and haunting. Do you have any plans to release anything more in that direction?
    January 23 05:49 PM
  • JS19 Cheers man, have submitted that for the sput compilation coming up because I didn't know what else to do with it haha. Want to try and get a better piano sound, but unsure how to do it atm!
    January 7 05:21 PM
  • JS19 and processed from those improvisations : ) I recorded my own audio samples and then processed them through filters ect and mixed them into Reason. Then I just used Audacity to apply finishing touches such as levels and fade ins/outs. Just took some practice! And thanks again man, I honestly appreciate that you enjoy it because there's definitely a lot of emotion and effort behind it - nice to see it come through to at least someone : )
    December 13 04:17 PM
  • JS19 This started with me just messing around too haha - you just sort of clean things up a bit after messing around and get better at messing around until you can write something half decent! I used Reason and made instruments and samples from scratch, then controlled them from a MIDI source (my digital piano). The compositions were pretty much borne from keyboard controlled improvisation as the basis, then tinkered with

  • JS19 and thanks - sound, and the nature of sound has always been really special to me, so I definitely wanted a way to sort of creatively explore background sound and echoic memory in a musical way. Hopefully I do how i feel a bit of justice! My first EP is worth checking out too (now I've revised all the tracks about 20 times each - they were so s***e when I was starting out haha), but the mastering is a bit dodgy so don' expect perfection :P thanks again man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate
    December 11 06:38 PM
  • JS19 Don't put yourself down man, your stuff sounds pretty great to me - I especially love the textures on Beyond the Light and your new EP/song definitely hits the right vibe. I can definitely hear 'The Place Where the Black Stars Hang' influence : ) And don't worry - I'm a massive perfectionist and have wanted to cut (especially the start) of Afterimage down for ages just have been busy writing a paper and didn't have the time...
    December 11 06:35 PM
  • JS19 Hey man, so I actually had some free time, and cut some of the sections of Afterimage that dragged a bit - am much happier with it now! It's down to 12ish minutes which works a lot better I think
    December 11 01:35 PM
  • JS19 Hey man, thank you so much for checking it out and I'm really glad you enjoyed it! It really means a lot that you got the emotion I tired to put behind it - despite its faults (Afterimage is def too long and my mastering skill is just not a thing yet [am a phd student so haven't had much time to fix the issues recently]). I'm really excited to check your project properly too - have had a few skims through a bit of your stuff and I love the textures and the ideas and can;t wait to check it!

  • ScuroFantasma All good my dude, had a listen yesterday and enjoyed it, nicely done. There's a really cool swelling sensation to it early on that I dig.

    December 4 07:41 PM
  • DungeonBoy Absolutely man! I sincerely enjoyed it, and am always impressed when I can emotionally connect with user projects. I have an instrumental acoustic/"dark folk"/neo-classical project called Rota Fortunae. I released an EP called Vespers last year if you want to check it out. https://rotafortunae.bandcamp.com/ it's fairly rough, recorded with an SM57, 0 compression, minimal EQ, but I'm wrapping up a new EP right now that fellow sputniker "ButteryBiscuitsBass" is going to put out on his new label.

  • trackbytrackreviews I don't know if it sounds like Isjaki exactly, but if you sang the chorus of team in icelandic I'd totally believe you that it's a sigur ros song

    April 4 04:17 PM
  • Kubrick thanks dude! glad it resonated with you! seriously though, as i said, it wasn't easy for me at all. it took me over a year of listening to the band on and off before i really started to "feel" their music beyond the novelty of the technicality. they really are one of those bands that can completely go over your head if you don't approach them with the right mindset (i know this from experience haha).

  • Jom Usually as long as it's a new release (the closer to official release date, the better), you should be golden. Just shoutbox one of us (i.e., Willie, Chan, Deviant., or myself are the best to go to) or post in the Meds thread in the Help/Bugs/Suggestions forum. Cheers!
