    July 23 01:38 PM
  • zakalwe Well that was thoroughly enjoyable and youre not wrong regarding the fish rising connection. Nice one mate you recced a keeper there.
    June 24 02:44 PM
  • zakalwe Cheers Dyl on it and I?m excited by the opening few minutes
    June 24 12:27 PM
  • theBoneyKing I see you with the Preachers Daughter 4.5, proud of u
    May 23 02:32 AM
  • Atari yay! glad to hear you liked it.. definitely a lot worth returning to. even though it's sparse at times it has a lot of those nice jazz/production flourishes as you mentioned
    May 11 02:40 PM
  • Atari no pressure, just recommending based on some overlap we've had on some singer-songwriter (Lucy Dacus, Shannen Moser, Big Thief, etc). if you do get around to it hopefully you enjoy it half as much as me!
    May 8 03:56 PM
  • theBoneyKing Haha, can always count on you bud!
    May 7 08:59 PM
  • theBoneyKing Boat Songs review alert!
    May 7 03:30 PM
  • Atari hey there, I have a feeling you'd love the new Tomberlin ;)
    May 6 09:56 PM
  • theBoneyKing A Boney review has dropped!
    March 21 12:49 AM
  • Pheromone woah only a 3.5 for midnight organ fight? i would've thought that was right up your alley
    February 25 09:08 PM
  • Pheromone hate is all you need
    February 25 08:56 PM
  • theBoneyKing Try it, its only 24 minutes (2 long tracks). I found from a RYM list by former Sputter altertide0 - not usual Boney fare though, a very dark, death-focused release, hard to genre classify but its somewhere in the realm of emo/experimental rock.
    February 13 12:46 PM
  • DoofDoof nice, just listened now, top grade sticks - I also really rate the new Destroyer single
    January 21 06:49 PM
  • Atari yo I think you'd really dig the new Margo Cilker album
    December 1 11:37 PM
  • theBoneyKing Hey Dyl! How are things?
    September 30 02:03 AM
  • DoofDoof Does the show get recorded? More likely to get to listen to it in the daytime - married life/fatherhood make evenings tough ;)
    July 27 07:40 AM
  • Sowing Thanks, will check it for sure.
    May 10 04:57 PM
  • DoofDoof everyone needs at least three Lambchop 5s ;)
    May 3 02:36 PM
  • theBoneyKing Yeah, not sure what happened there, rest of my message must have been cut off. Born and Raised is definitely my second fave, a wonderful folk rock/Americana album that. Room for Squares is a popular one for sure and there are a few classic jams on it but its kinda just decent overall imo. Battle Studies is great, if a bit inconsistent. Who Says is indeed wonderful!
    May 1 08:55 PM
  • theBoneyKing Whoa, those are some seriously impressive stats! I'm currently on my way toward a teaching degree/certification, I've spent the year student teaching and taking grad classes so have kept quite busy. Glad you're coming around on Continuum, Mayer is the real deal even if he does have a lot of weaker material. If you're interested in more Mayer (albeit in a very different vein) give Born
    April 26 02:37 PM
  • theBoneyKing Hey man, hope youre doing well. Yeah that album/Mayer in general is an old and pretty foundational favorite for me. May not be a 4.5 anymore really but it can stay there for the nostalgia.
    April 25 11:07 PM
  • Sowing Sweet. Thanks for the heads up.
    December 11 03:43 PM
  • Sowing uh what
    December 11 12:22 PM
  • theBoneyKing I am still a bit shook by how different Left and Leaving is from Recon Site though. Recon Site was super immediate while still growing on me a lot, at this point I reckon its pretty close to perfect but L and L is so much rawer (and accordingly less perfect, strictly speaking) and more intimate. Down the line I see Recon being the more replayable comfort listen while I only go for L and L when I need to be devastated, lol
    October 12 02:36 AM
  • theBoneyKing At this point I love almost every song! Seriously though, Pamphleteer may actually top anything on Recon Site for me, and Fire Door, title track, and Exiles are all incredible as well.
    October 12 02:19 AM
  • Pheromone **** that dyl listen to The Rural Alberta Advantage album 'Hometowns'
    October 9 12:22 PM
  • Pheromone check the song 2lp by picture center hngg its beautiful
    October 8 07:36 PM
  • Pheromone Thought the mentally in a hurricane was a metaphore of some sort for cloudy head, glad it wasn't. I'm not too bad - doing a bit of a work experience for my university lecturer and so am actually, genuinely, in a bit of a mental hurricane (of some sort). Can't wait to have it finished.
    September 1 09:51 AM
  • Pheromone where you at dyl
    August 28 01:57 PM
  • Observer Glad you digged, and yeah I guess Third Eye Blind would have been a closer cousin to MGB as far as 90s alternative goes. I hope It grows on you though, and like I mentioned in the thread check his solo career if you do end up loving it. May review Avalanche in the future.
    August 3 09:38 PM
  • theBoneyKing I see Americana has found its way into your pie chart. Proud of u
    July 21 02:17 PM
  • theBoneyKing That ERP album is really great yeah and I agree, it's very comfy stuff. Thriller is a bit of an oddity in the Lambchop oeuvre for sure. If I'm being honest I don't really go back to it like I do most of their other stuff and yet I do like it a lot.
    July 18 09:40 PM
  • Pheromone Oh lol I read that previous message wrong - It's on 23:00 here, I'll give it a listen if I'm still up revising xo
    May 13 03:26 PM
  • Pheromone Haha - the Sput time is sort of confusing to me. What time was it on? I presume i was asleep ;_;
    May 13 11:17 AM
  • DoofDoof I might be able to tune i for a bit hopefully - not too late to put 'Vanishing Twin' by Blake Mills in the tracklist ;)
    May 13 08:02 AM
  • Sowing Only just now saw your 2017 soundoff for In The Attic of the Universe and I'm glad to see someone else praising it so highly. It's a top 5 album of all time for me personally.
    April 29 09:35 PM
  • strawberriesandgravy Hape to be Back 2 Sput
    April 29 07:11 PM
  • Pheromone What was your field? I'm ****ing stresssed about post-uni so I feel for you
    March 10 06:50 PM
  • DoofDoof If you want more Paddy Hanna try the new Autre Monde - it is a bit more straightforward indie than his solo stuff but I think you might quite like it :D
    March 2 04:49 PM
  • Pheromone Where're you working my dude? Have you left Uni (College) yet? Life's fine here, all deadline stress and uni work so no music for me recently. I'm off to Prague next year for a year abroad however so planning on just surviving through these next few months until I am finally free though it feels like I've been at uni for a lifetime now
    February 22 09:35 PM
  • DoofDoof I will give it more goes for sure, I get what hes trying to achieve it just sounds a bit forced - a few of the later songs were a bit darker/grittier in subject matter?
    February 14 02:20 PM
  • DoofDoof Sorry Dyl, didnt get on too well with the Lavene - too '2004 MTV Indie Busker-folk' I found. Reminds me too much of Jack Penate and Kate Nash, that sort of thing, though he is better than those two.
    February 13 08:21 AM
  • zakalwe Thanks for the shout box rec dude. Only listened to patches of it so far, it seems a bit too light for my usual tastes but I?ll stick with it.
    February 12 01:24 PM
  • Pheromone I'll check it out my son. Been a bit slow on the new-listening front. I'm sort of returning to old 'classics' that never did it for me - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy currently. How's life?
    February 9 03:29 PM
  • DoofDoof I s as m putting up my thoughts about any album I check in 2020 on my latest list so head there for my opinion when I give it a go ;)
    February 9 12:09 AM
  • DoofDoof I am on it Dyl, thanks
    February 9 12:07 AM
  • theBoneyKing Sounds interesting, will try to peep soon.
    February 8 08:01 PM
  • Sowing I was probably too harsh when I reexamined my ratings lol. They still have at least one 4 for me, will need to rethink.
    February 4 03:32 PM
  • theBoneyKing Happy New Year! Photo Album is such a beaut.
    January 1 02:38 PM
  • theBoneyKing Hah, yes the last few months have been quite fruitful for me musically, in the past for some reason I've always avoided listening to too many albums I expect to love too close together so that I can give each the proper time, or would wait for a "special occasion" to check out such an album, which I've realized is dumb. I've also been trying to load up on good music since I have only one semester before I graduate and I'm definitely going to have a lot less time for music once that happens.
    December 9 03:53 PM
  • DoofDoof only third best for me but almost as good as the first two - really consistent though...maybe their most consistent?
    November 30 06:53 PM
  • theBoneyKing Thanks man!
    November 24 12:20 AM
  • DoofDoof Very solid album, brighter than The Waiting Room, it?s never going to break into my top 3 by the band but it can hold its own against any of the others. First five songs are really strong.
    November 17 09:38 AM
  • Sowing I've been listening to his discog for over a decade and just now realized I hadn't rated everything lol. And agreed, Roman Candle is brilliant.
    October 15 01:13 PM
  • theBoneyKing Also you should see about getting the Roadcase download for your show if there is one. If you don't know what that is, basically they record a good number of their live shows and make them available for purchase/download; I have the one for my show and I think it was included with the ticket sale.
    October 9 02:34 AM
  • theBoneyKing On the Star Wars tour they started by playing that album straight through then played a long set of their classics. Have a feeling they won't do the same for Ode to Joy though.
    October 9 02:28 AM
  • theBoneyKing Alas, no! I wish I could but I volunteer Friday evenings. They do have a Thursday show too but I have something that night too. I saw them touring Star Wars though! They're amazing live, you'll have a great time.
    October 9 02:27 AM
  • DoofDoof Careful, nothing beats Kaputt! I love that album though, underrated. I prefer it to Destroyer?s Rubies which most people say is his best album
    September 19 05:52 PM
  • DoofDoof Lana is pretty throwaway stuff for me - if you want recent recs go for either of this week?s ?Alex? albums. Alex G or Alex Cameron :D
    September 19 05:51 PM
  • theBoneyKing Also, I've been jamming more Seam, their debut Headsparks most recently, and I dig that a lot too, not as good as The Problem With Me but still great, crunchy noise-pop!
    September 16 08:01 PM
  • theBoneyKing Nice nice! I don't listen to it much these days but it's def my fave Truckers and a classic. The opening run (first 6 tracks) is absolutely nuts.
    September 16 01:54 PM
  • DoofDoof A lot of 2019 big release 2.5s...Baroness, James Blake, Bon Iver, Lana del Rey. Out of those two...I guess The National are higher as that has two or three songs I'd actively seek out to listen to in the future.
    September 8 04:08 PM
  • DoofDoof It is behind Woman, Flotus, Sitting Down, Quit Smoking, Nixon and Ohio. It was my first chop and that doesnt help it for some reason. It might be the best of the rest...although I have more fondness for Mr M for various reasons, I do like the new one a fair bit, and Another Man Spills is considered really good by the critics. I can say safely its better than Thriller - the rest I am not sure!
    August 10 07:28 AM
  • SandwichBubble Well, now I feel bad. Hope he gets a pack of deodorant someday.
    June 28 12:05 AM
  • DoofDoof I think the new one wouldnt be the worst place to start - in fact working backwards through the discog might be the way to go
    June 17 06:58 AM
  • DoofDoof Good lads, pleased they have a sense of humour!!!
    June 15 07:20 PM
  • theBoneyKing Boxer is the National at their simple, elegant best. High Violet is my number one but Boxer is an extremely close second (realistically its also a top 5 album OAT for me) and I def see why many consider it their definitive moment.
    May 24 08:02 AM
  • theBoneyKing Fair I guess - far as Im concerned its basically a perfect album but I will agree its ever so slightly frontloaded, my top 5 songs on it are all in the first half, but the back half is incredible too and as their shortest album its short and sweet, not a single wasted moment. Its got my favorite sound on a Natty album too, I love how in the room it feels, the drums especially are absolutely astonishing on it.
    May 22 02:25 PM
  • DoofDoof 'Quiet', 'Head' and 'Rylan' are my top three so nice picks :D
    May 18 08:47 PM
  • DoofDoof I hope you find some stuff to like on the new one, I do like a few songs on there myself, but overall it is disappointing for me - so I am not too surprised you found it a little underwhelming on your first try.
    May 18 06:13 PM
  • theBoneyKing Fair fair, curious to hear your more developed thoughts. Ive still only spun 4 times so I may be being hasty. Im a bit unfair on your Boxer rating, a 4 is totally fair.
    May 18 05:24 PM
  • theBoneyKing Hey Dyl, thought I'd tell you I started spinning Seam - The Problem With Me which I believe you recommended a while ago. Great album, didn't hit me at first but it's growing really hard. Love the mix of crunchy guitars with slowcore elements.
    May 16 03:23 PM
  • neekafat For some reason I wasn't loving the first half but mannnnn the second half clicked perfectly with me
    May 2 03:55 AM
  • neekafat oooh will do dude, thanks for the rec! (:
    April 27 04:50 AM
  • DoofDoof will give it another spin later in the week and see f any songs put down some hooks
    April 23 03:29 PM
  • DoofDoof The Finn Andrews - I like the style of singing he adopts...but the songs are a bit bland I thought
    April 23 07:26 AM
  • theBoneyKing Hey Dyl, whatcha diggin' these days?
    April 18 09:53 PM
  • DoofDoof Cheers for the rec, will get on it soon, he has a great voice so could be a winner
    April 15 06:46 PM
  • Pheromone Lol don?t worry about the Wussy one, you might enjoy it more but I prefer Prolapse quite significantly. Also wtf is peanut butter and crackers
    April 13 09:21 PM
  • Pheromone Not really what I imagine you listening to much - HOWEVER, check Prolapse's first album. It's a ****ing cracker.
    April 13 08:56 PM
  • SandwichBubble I always had Spider at a close 3rd, but who knows. Maybe next time I listen to it, it'll become my new fav. | Can't help it, that s***ty voco effect he's using on the vocals really kills it for me. I like "Flower" though.
    April 5 10:35 PM
  • SandwichBubble Keep the flame lit, don't let it die! | Vivadixie used to be my fav but I don't know if that's true anymore.
    April 5 09:46 PM
  • Pheromone Lovely. I hadn't even heard of it - I'm ****ing awful at new music, I'll usually get to 2019 albums in 2023 or somethin, but I guess I should really push myself during the last year of the decade.
    April 2 01:27 PM
  • Pheromone Will always take a 4 - you actually inspired me last night to put it on for the first time in a while. Remember to keep it on rotation!
    April 2 09:43 AM
  • Pheromone I have a different favourite every time I listen to it, which is damn rare. The one that initially gave me chills and always sticks out is hopeless, something about that chorus sinks into the bones more than any other, so I guess that. The two you mention easily deserve a shout too (as does happy, ex girl, faster gun, everyone chooses, every single song) **** yeah though, glad you?re finally giving it a listen. How do you find it as a whole?
    March 26 11:03 PM
  • Point1 they really are the best
    March 4 05:34 PM
  • neekafat Holy s*** I didn't see it until you said congrats!!! Thanks buddy (:
    March 1 09:27 PM
  • neekafat Tried doing a heart emoji but it didn't go through ):
    March 1 04:03 PM
  • neekafat Thank
    March 1 02:57 PM
  • Papa Universe you still wanna host March SOTD thread?
    March 1 02:47 PM
  • neekafat I'd love it if you could please, and even if you could just do weeklys that would be amazing (:
    March 1 05:13 AM
  • neekafat You want to do SotD for March?w
    February 27 04:32 AM
  • theBoneyKing Ha, yeah idk, I loved Mangy Love but TOTS has failed to click with me, which is strange because the formula isn't all that different. Just weaker tunes I guess. Deja definitely surprised me a bit, the more pop punk aspects can be a bit much at times but I can't deny the songwriting is strong.
    February 19 01:40 AM
  • butcherboy those guys totally scored more points than those other guys..
    February 4 12:35 PM
  • theBoneyKing You binging screamo classics today?
    January 7 12:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Ultimate Christmas present ;D
    December 24 05:23 PM
  • neekafat Thanks dude!
    December 6 02:54 AM
  • Tyler. asDFG
    December 5 09:43 PM
  • neekafat Hey man! Feel free to drop a rec in the new SOTD thread and maybe start listening to some of them! c:
    December 5 05:28 AM
  • Tyler. werent you the desert pea ?
    December 5 03:50 AM
  • Sowing I haven't heard them but very much appreciate the heads up. Had no idea they were (or would ever) put out new material. I loved Kind of Blah.
    November 28 03:07 PM
  • Hawks Hahahahahaahahahaha
    November 15 11:22 PM
  • Pheromone wussy* ffs
    November 15 12:05 AM
  • Pheromone bro check wussey, just had an amazing listen to their debut; check airborne to start with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZgDsyTbFCo
    November 15 12:04 AM
  • Pheromone RYM; sputs boring smarter brother
    October 10 11:12 PM
  • theBoneyKing It's somewhere in the range of 3rd to 5th for me (it was the last in their discog I hadn't yet heard). The 4.5 may not stick as it sags a bit in the middle-end but the opening stretch is incredible. "I'm Thinking of a Number" may be top 5 'Chop for me.
    October 3 01:39 AM
  • Pheromone It's a classic! For the low budget sound they had, they made the most out of it
    September 30 10:49 PM
  • Pheromone **** yeah I see some Swell in your recent ratings, one of the most underrated indie alt acts of the 90s
    September 27 10:34 PM
  • theBoneyKing Sure thing man, I'm a (very) casual fan of them in fact but had missed they had a new album out so thanks!
    September 8 02:10 PM
  • theBoneyKing Thats great man! It started as a 4 for me as well too, definitely not an ?instant perfect?. Ive long wanted to review it, the one on the site now doesnt nearly to do it justice.
    August 13 12:16 PM
  • Pheromone I had that exact same experience when I heard the album - 'Not Yet' is such a fantastic opener. The t/t is my star track though, if I could see any song live that would certainly be a contender.
    August 8 01:54 PM
  • DoofDoof I did enjoy the Bathory, will return to it. Get ready for a classic Doof list series coming soon - that Grifters album will feature in the first edition ;D
    August 1 06:37 AM
  • Pheromone Dude, I?m so jealous. I tried to land Radiohead tickets years ago but they sold out instantly :( that?s definitely an experience I need at one point. Take your time dude! I?m doing well, basically just working very summer so I can exist next year at uni
    August 1 01:35 AM
  • Pheromone How you been my man
    August 1 12:29 AM
  • DoofDoof The production on the Bathory is scrappy as all hell but I like it enough for a 3.5 rating
    July 23 04:34 PM
  • DoofDoof Will give them a go, starting to feel a craving to return to listening to some metal
    July 22 08:53 AM
  • DoofDoof Rebirth!
    July 9 06:14 AM
  • Pheromone Amsterdam Stranded is gorgeous, I think Harbor Hope
    July 2 10:37 PM
  • Pheromone Scrap that last rec, listen to another year. My new rec for you is The Veils - Nux Vomica. One of the greatest Indie Rock albums of all time!!
    July 1 10:30 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Ghosts of the Great Highway 3.5, Year of the Snitch 4.5 - Dyl say it ain?t so ;D Have been listening to quite a lot of DG recently though
    June 27 09:25 PM
  • Pheromone Hey bb check Art of Fighting - Wires. It's beautiful
    June 25 08:43 PM
  • ArsMoriendi 2nd slots are open for Song of the Day, if you pick another song I can give you the 20th. :)
    June 1 01:29 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Glad you dig 'Gustavo'[, song grew on me so much. The last two songs on 'April' are also real good - don't neglect them ;)
    May 22 06:12 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Other essentials are SKM 'April', RHP 'Songs for a Blue Guitar' and the wild card is the Kozelk and Jimmy Lavelle 'Perils from the Sea' - listen to the song 'Gustavo' now, my favourite song of that year.....a classic!
    May 19 09:36 PM
  • Pheromone I've always toyed with the idea of playing Weakerthans on radio but figured I would end up just rambling about their lyrics for hours on end.
    May 3 11:33 PM
  • zakalwe For me it?s a real shot in the arm of proper rock n roll chutzpah. The band have always trod a thin line between college rock a la Dino Jr and bland commercial rock a la Counting Crows but always stayed the right side. Now they?re walking it with their chests thrust out. I see Bill Janovitz is an estate agent. lol.
    May 3 09:19 PM
  • zakalwe Freckles is my fave now as well. Definitely my album of the year at the minute. Love it, I think it might actually be the bands best it?s that good.
    May 3 06:01 PM
  • Pheromone Great show dude; had to tune out now coz it's midnight here and I need sleep. Loved the flow from ee to nick drake and the playlist as a whole
    May 2 10:56 PM
  • Pheromone For some reason I'd always assumed you were a Brit
    May 2 10:02 PM
  • Pheromone Also check this song man, I was gonna do it for the May song contest but i got lazy and it filled up fast, gutting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z6jJrm5nMA
    May 2 08:55 PM
  • Pheromone I'll tune in dude, excited to see the music you're representing here, no pressure! Where about's are you living with that EDT timezone?
    May 2 08:47 PM
  • Pheromone Proper float away classic
    April 24 06:36 PM
  • Pheromone Don't get me wrong - since that first sunny listen, this has been my 'float off to sleep' album. Appears to be versatile for every mood. My favourite so far is easily 'Lands', that song is absolutely gorgeous - there are some gems on the album though ;) ;) ;) ;) sorry
    April 24 05:10 PM
  • zakalwe Couldn?t agree more dude. The new one is the surprise of the year. Roman Cars is such a good tune.
    April 24 12:37 PM
  • Pheromone That Gem Club album is gorgeous - was in a drifting-to-sleep state listening to it in the sun. Filled the antlers-shaped hole in my heart
    April 22 11:03 PM
  • Pheromone The game or just the soundtrack? I?ve never actually played sim city despite (for some reason) having the original. Any mario soundtrack is worthy of OK Computer levels of praise though, let?s be honest
    April 21 09:57 AM
  • Pheromone You're the man, man! I'll check em both. Love that Sophtware Slump 4.5 also, funny seeing it .5 lower than the SimCity soundtrack but I guess Grandaddy could never live up to that
    April 19 11:24 PM
  • Pheromone Ello Dyl, rec me an album
    April 19 10:10 PM
  • theBoneyKing Nice man, fwiw it did take me 4-5 listens to decide it was classic tier so I have hope for you still
    April 6 10:07 PM
  • theBoneyKing I see you scrobbling Amsterdam Stranded, how you feel about it???
    April 6 03:25 PM
  • theBoneyKing And I see youve finally entered the obsessive world of last.fm! Followed you back ;-]
    April 2 03:13 PM
  • theBoneyKing Im really enjoying it though I was a bit skeptical at first. But yeah even though Im not much of a Strokes fan (havent even heard Is This It) its very enjoyable and dynamic rock album, its a lot to take in but I?m feeling a strong 3.5 to a 4 on it.
    April 2 03:12 PM
  • theBoneyKing Thanks man! Alas, by the time I got to it there were only individual seats left for the July 28th show so I got two tix for the 29th show instead.
    February 24 07:44 PM
  • theBoneyKing The Whole Love is a great one, I?d definitely agree it?s best to build your way up to it. Things are pretty good, just starting up the new semester this week. December 27 10:59 PM
  • DoofusWainwright YouTube does have the other mix of Sweet Bird up though, with the chanting/calls for prayer moxed in which is also worth a listen though
    December 22 09:14 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Nice one, should give another insight into the album. YouTube has all of them other than Sweet Bird and Mercy Best far as I could tell
    December 22 09:12 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Dyl did you say you ever got around to watching the 'Infected' videos? Sooooo good buddy!
    December 21 03:45 PM
  • theBoneyKing List isn't ranked.
    December 16 01:15 PM
  • theBoneyKing Misunderstood, The Lonely 1, She's a Jar, Via Chicago, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Jesus Etc., At Least That's What You Said, Spiders (Kidsmoke), Impossible Germany, One Sunday Morning. Perhaps a bit of a generic list (and heavily weighted towards their "epic" tracks) but yeah these are probably the ones I've listened to the most outside of their album context.
    December 16 12:42 PM
  • theBoneyKing That's a tough one, I'll try to come up with a list though.
    December 16 12:29 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I just prefer Takk that little bit more than ( )

    October 27 07:31 PM
  • theBoneyKing Glad you dug it man! I'll check out that Delgados album soon enough. Don't want to rub it in your face but The National were amazing!
    October 6 04:11 AM
  • theBoneyKing Got a rec for you: East River Pipe - Poor Fricky. Excellent 90s indie stuff that Lambchop ended up covering three songs from on their album Thriller.
    October 4 03:03 AM
  • theBoneyKing Saw you just checked out a new Lambchop - funny, because I just did the other day too after taking a few months off. What Another Man Spills is the next up for me, will prob wait another month or two though.
    September 23 02:09 PM
  • DoofusWainwright It's real good, one of their most varied. Only weakness is slightly fewer songs I regard as classics, but that might just be me.
    September 22 12:24 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I'm on it
    September 21 01:17 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Go for it, I'm probably going to get through 5 or 6 recs from the list today. Ploughing through this one.
    September 21 09:42 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Dyl - can't you rate some more of the Buff Tom discog?
    September 21 07:29 AM

  • LogicTumble Hey man - Seen that you're a big fan of Sun Kil Moon. If you're into the spoken word music vibe, I'd love to know what you think of my album: https://joshuathorne.bandcamp.com/album/dear-listener . The sput page is: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Joshua-Thorne/90709/ . It'd be amazing if you can do a review, but if not I'd just love to know what you think!
    July 26 12:04 PM
  • Snake. viva la vida is literally the worst song of all time
    July 19 01:09 AM
  • DoofusWainwright It's the song that got me into the band, top 50 tune of all time :D
    July 4 08:20 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I just picked up a copy of 'Thriller / Hank' on CD to complete my collection - going to reassess those two. 'Ohio' is absolute quality, 'Popeye' has slowly become my favourite on that one. Have you listened to 'Paperback Bible' off of 'Damaged' yet? Worth taking a listen of that one in isolation, essential tune.
    July 4 07:53 PM
  • Drifter Nah I haven't checked October road. Been meaning to for a while but not yet. Def will though!
    June 15 08:51 PM
  • Drifter ..most solid surprisingly. Anywayyyy yeah, very nice to see some JT love on here
    June 12 02:16 AM
  • Drifter Yeah due to my moms sisters being quite a bit older than her, they'd listened to him since he started almost and kept listening until I was around 30 years later. One of my aunts even got Sweet Baby James way back IN 1970. I've tried to get his stuff for years but he's not exactly known for his albums so you mostly see that in stores. Still, I've gotten many of his albums through the years. Def check Never Die Young, Gorilla, and especially Hourglass and s/t. His newer one is also one his..
    June 12 02:15 AM
  • Drifter Sweet James Taylor love! His s/t is a very special album to me.
    June 11 08:40 AM
  • Sowing That'll be my next list =]
    May 24 11:36 PM
  • DoofusWainwright The fact you love both The The and The National so much pretty much makes you one of the greatest human beings ever Dyl
    May 11 08:30 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Yeah, something in Matt's voice, the rhythm and that scratchy guitar.
    May 11 05:23 PM
  • Rowan5215 absolutely no worries at all. it's somethin special for sure, happy to share it

    April 19 09:27 AM
  • theBoneyKing It's still not really true shoegaze, rym's genre tags for the album deserocbe it pretty well though: shoegaze and blackgaze primary, post-rock and dream pop secondary. I need to hear Slowdive and Ride myself, planning to very very soon actually as their new albums come out soon.
    April 15 01:38 AM
  • theBoneyKing Sorta, yeah. Two of the songs have virtualy no metal elements and the others are very much blackgaze
    April 14 04:54 PM
  • polyrhythm Yeah, one of a few really magical moments on that album. It's a 3.5 for me overall, same as Thom's first solo album, because there is a homogeneity to the music when he's contributing 90% or more. Not quite up to that golden Radiohead standard, but definitely worth a listen.
    April 14 12:03 AM
  • theBoneyKing That's true, I did. However I'd say that album is metal more in the songwriting than the sound, which is probably as much straight up shoegaze as is blackgaze. There are some harsh vocals but they're not that harsh relatively speaking.
    April 13 11:13 PM
  • theBoneyKing Haha, yeah every now and then I try a metal song or two to see if anything appeals to me...so far nothing has. Maybe someday.
    April 13 05:12 PM
  • theBoneyKing Automatic is the one I'm most familiar with so whenever I revisit them I'll definitely start with that one, then just go back to their debut (which I've never heard) and go chronologically from there.
    April 5 05:30 PM
  • theBoneyKing Pretty good song. I need to properly get into R.E.M., listened to quite a few of their albums years ago but haven't touched them since so essentially I haven't even heard them.
    April 4 01:51 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist Thing is the lyrics seem so un-personal and occasionally even contrived. There's a point where he says "Hitler reprises in your soul" and sometimes I wonder if he actually meant that like some of those stupid far left guilt trip people or if he was just being edgy.
    March 29 04:51 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist I actually really like the lyrics. Some of the stuff I don't agree with but I love the idea of political grunge too. It's just some of the stuff from whiteamerica is a step too far and also some of the lyrics on stuff like Revol are total nonsense that only the writer of them(who disappeared and is likely dead) knows what they mean. So a few of the lyrics are just a mess and sometimes I'm like "well this is really intriguing but a bit far". But i think that's shock value in most cases
    March 29 03:06 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist It's one of those albums I'm really conflicted on. I can understand why someone would hate it and love it. It sometimes seems "triehard" and to my ears it's way too desensitized to hit me emotionally(save for one or two songs) but the vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation is pretty damn good. It's pretty much powerful 90's grunge pop with really angsty worldly lyrics.
    March 29 02:54 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist I'm really surprised you have not checked out Manic Street Preachers' Holy Bible. It's very powerful Alt Rock with grunge influences.
    March 29 01:55 AM
  • DoofusWainwright 'Nixon' or 'Ohio', should be nice easy wins that step up your Lambchop addiction
    March 28 11:34 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist Thanks for the rec man! This is very interesting so far
    March 25 01:19 AM
  • theBoneyKing Haha no problem man, was just curious. I feel you on the procrastination thing - I spend waaay too much time here when I should be working on other things.
    March 21 06:53 PM
  • theBoneyKing Have you had a chance to revisit Fear and Whiskey yet?
    March 21 06:36 PM
  • VaxXi nice dig my dude
    March 21 04:07 AM
