| Mythodea Hey, man. One question. Do you knnow where the ''sludgy, proggy and one hell of a ride'' meme originates from?
| CaptainDooRight hi bro how are you?? can i share my new trvth album with you? https://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/inordinate-and-surpassing
| buffserker1919 Hey Insurrection! Simon suggested that I reach out to you regarding my new album. My project Passageways just released the album "Haan" a couple days ago. I feel like our tastes really align, so you may find something to enjoy here. The style is very hard to categorize. You can find the album by searching "Passageways: Haan" on the streaming platforms or by the following link:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mHpNO21Vdtc4YNdxq2vvQrc0NxzRFyMuIThanks for your time!Nick Bufalino

| Doctuses thanks! it's gonna be like the hardest swansong i can possibly come up with lol, except for maybe when I do the 3rd and 9th.
| Doctuses it wouldn't be immediately either, sometime in late summer most likely, if that.
| Doctuses hey ins, would you mind if i did a review for beethoven's 5th? my M.O. is not to do reviews for albums that already have one but the muse is callin me for this one. would that be cool cause i see you have one for the 5th
| Jom I sent you an e-mail, but I received a bounce-back. Is there a better way to write you?
| Toondude10 here's something I think you'd really dig https://www.goldenmp3.ru/mycelia/dawn

| Toondude10 nice to see you back after a good long while, I was wondering about you.

| DatBeefPudding checked Inanimate Existence again and A Never Ending Cycle of Atonement definitely has grown on me. I owe thanks for the rec
| DatBeefPudding have you heard Virvum yet? really solid tech death band
| Arcade take a peep in the contributor's thread when you get a chance
| DatBeefPudding I see what you mean with Hacksaw... pity they called it quits so early.I have a rec for you! Alustrium - A Tunnel to Eden. I was checking your ratings and I didnt notice it so feel free to have a listen, I think you'll enjoy them. Also I agree with your Aspherium - the Fall of Therenia rating, that album rules.
| DatBeefPudding I do crave really solid clean production that allows each instrument to shine properly, something that I find a lot of metal lacks, you can tell by the bands I've listen generally have a more modern produced sound that a lot of older and/or niche metal bands choose not to use for stylistic or personal preferential reasons. Keep up the good reviews by the way, I've enjoyed your work over the years as a lurker, rare poster.
| DatBeefPudding Hey man, noticed you have somewhat similar tastes as me, or at least are knowledgeable enough about the scene to answer a question for me.Do you know where I can bands similar to Fallujah and/or Revocation? The best fits for that sound so far for Fallujah have been Rivers of Nihil and Black Crown Initiate (i dislike their cleans though), as for Revocation I found Sylosis, and Aspherium to be pretty similar, but now I've hit a wall.
| DarkSideOfLucca Oh man, so much dude - I think it's been something like 4 years since I've talked to you lol. I was in Boston for 3, now I'm back in MA. Been out of the Sputnik life, but this 3 week punch (Neurosis, Meshuggah, Dillinger) brought me back - plus this is an awesome place to break from real life drama and facebook bs.
| Toondude10 I think you might dig this https://play.spotify.com/album/18TB9isnWcqyWYVyCKy25U
| Futures the hate circlejerk on this site is just lol
| Futures good periphery review bud i still gotta check juggernaut lol
| AtomicWaste Yeah - since our promos go to the staff level and aren't distributed to contribs, we maintain the "no post before official public stream" rule outside of staff. Not sure how you got your advance, but this is done to protect our asses and maintain good relationships with the labels that provide said advances.
| AtomicWaste Also, in the interest of not being a dick, just FYI I have the staff stream and am planning on writing something. I just don't want you to think I'm trying to intentionally block you from posting to get mine out first - it's just the way it's shaking out. I imagine we'll have drastically different opinions on it, but just wanted to give you full disclosure so you don't curse my name and/or spit on my grave.
| AtomicWaste It's not released yet, so no, it's not yet okay to post. I know it's leaked, but those are the rules. If they post an official full stream, you can go ahead and post then.
| AngryLittleAlchemist Hey I was curious why you think The Fragile is a 5? I saw your sound off but I was wondering if you had any more reasons or could expand? Hope i'm not intrudign.
| Pon http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641749 -- classical guidelines are posted, feel free to add interps to your heart's content
| Pon Bruh pls give me ur feelings on my latest list it pertains to classical n s***
| Sowing I'd be glad to if it was a user review but it looks like another contrib review is flagged. I don't know who changed the flag, but if Talons says it's cool I'll make the change.
| KILL it should cos i downloaded it from that link around release. rutracker has everything ever bro
| KILL http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4910926
| Pon Yeah it sounds a lot better, even when I level matched them the difference was pretty massive. The difference in the snare and cymbals is night and day.
| Atari Yo, check out Camille Saint-Saens' 3rd symphony if you're still on a classical binge, great stuff
| 2InchDethWish Hi Insurrection, got djent fella? Remembet that a djent a day keeps the derp away.
| Pon No reason you can't post your own but I'm gonna try and get it done in the next few days. Haven't skipped on a dib yet and I don't plan on starting heh
| Pon I want to cover the new Kashiwa Daisuke as well so if I have to prioritise that over the new Fallujah I'll just tell Jom or Atomic that you'll cover the latter and let you know
| Pon I have it dibbed in the staff forums but I've yet to listen to it, were you planning on covering it?
| Atari Anytime man, happy listening :]
| Atari oh I almost forgot, if you haven't heard any of Mahler's symphonies I'd definitely recommend them. not what I would call "lesser known", but his 5th and 9th symphonies are essential. still haven't made it through all his stuff cause his symphonies are all like 90 minutes long lol. but yeah a lot of people consider him one of the greatest symphonists
| Atari hmmm, you might like Mendelssohn's symphonies if you haven't heard them. overall definitely more upbeat and quite different than Sibelius' symphonies (try 3-5). If you haven't heard all of Schubert's symphonies yet, his 6th symphony (the little) is one of my favorites by him. Can't really think of anything else off the top of my head - I actually know more concertos than symphonies haha. so if you ever want more concertos let me know. and yeah weezer ain't bad when I'm in a good mood haha
| Atari yeah, all the different versions/recordings in classical music can be overwhelming. there are several recordings on youtube i'd recommend for sibelius' 7th (most notably Vanska and Karajan which will be 2 of the first one's you'll see if you search his 7th symphony on youtube) leonard Bernstein also has a recording of it. Glad to see you getting into Sibelius more dude, some of his stuff takes more time to get into, but it's worth it
| Atari nah. well the 23 minute part sounds right but his 7th symphony should all be just one movement, that's part of what makes it so special
| Atari well you've heard his first symphony according to your ratings lol. but no rush at all man, just figured I'd mention him since he's one of my favorite composers lately
| Atari as for Sibelius, definitely let me know if you get around to his symphonies. His 5th might be the best place to start, and his 7th is all just one movement. also, if for some reason you haven't heard sibelius' violin concerto that's a must-hear as well ;) I'm always down to talk classical, not enough people on the site appreciate it
| Atari that's awesome man, I've never been to NY, but I'm sure that will be a blast! and it's not that crazy of a transition, so I guess pretty chill for the most part haha. it's been almost like a second job for me the past month or so, but that's all my doing, not because the staff are pressuring me to write more. just figured if they promoted me, I better prove I wasn't a waste of their time lol. so I've been reviewing more often and helping with the track of the day posts which is cool.
| Atari oh and sibelius' third symphony is also lovely. still need to hear his first and fourth, his 2nd is good too, but fairly standard
| Atari haha yeah, I actually had more classical in my pie chart but had my ratings wiped again a few months ago. In addition to Franz Schubert, one of my new favorites is Jean Sibelius. His last three symphonies (5,6, and 7) are just fantastic. Not as immediate as stuff like Beethoven and Schubert but definitely worth taking the time on. and I've been good man, how about you? think you might shoot for staff next time around?
| JigglyPDiddy Nah, he doesn't. Frusciante gave that band their special flame. Now that he's gone, meh. I'm really not expecting much out of their new record.
| JigglyPDiddy You shouuuld. It's so different from everything else they've done. Stadium Arcadium still has some nice tracks I play every so often.
| JigglyPDiddy Nice~ What's your opinion on One Hot Minute? And would you agree that it blows Stadium out of the water?
| JigglyPDiddy I saw that you're digging the Chillis. What's your fav by them?
| TheSpirit Thank you man! Very much appreciated.
| Toondude10 here's something you might like: https://play.spotify.com/album/6rTrPk4lcLGVvqUpLTSko0
| Jots you could pop into the contrib forum and see what's up. might be a couple unclaimed albums up your alley
| Jots you doing any write-ups for the user end of year lists?
| Jots drop into the contrib forum when you get a chance
| FearThyEvil It's very very good but the only negative qualm i have is it definitely goes on for a bit longer than it should. However, the album is a serious kick to the nuts a cranial assault if you will which is missing from most metalcore today and it's a shame.
| FearThyEvil Told ya, man. I have no idea what the hell went wrong when listening to the lp cuz the ep really is pretty exciting and full of energy like dillinger or someone similar. I do recommend you check out the Frontierer. Mathy as hell metalcore
| FearThyEvil So I noticed you rated the ep, better right?
| deathofasalesman It reminded me of 90s digital hardcore stuff with a metal twist. Bands like Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Anaal Nathrakh use drum machines to their advantage.
| deathofasalesman I honestly think the EP sounds great with the MIDI/GarageBand sound. You can call it digital metalcore or something crazy like and it would totally work. I think it could use a different album cover tho, but that's just my opinion. Great stuff all around tho. I agree it sounds like early Dillinger.
| FearThyEvil The ep is damn good. It's chaotic as all hell and reminds me of early Dillinger.
| FearThyEvil Saw you rated the new syters album. Was that your first experience with them? If so, I highly recommend the ep because it sounds nothing like the album. In fact, I have no ****ing clue what went wrong with the debut.
| ExplosiveOranges if you have time, could you take a quick look at my review draft i posted in the contrib proofreading thread?
| Beardog I don't know if you're familiar with plugins and stuff, are you able to open it via Logic? If not I would first search some tutorials on how to open plugins in Logic, maybe there's even a vid explaining how to get Kontakt 5 to work in Logic...
| Toondude10 this looks like something that's right up your alley https://play.spotify.com/album/7Hs4MdsvavxOhH8qfcNwe7
| Gameofmetal much better, got it bookmarked for jams later
| Toondude10 new Celldweller leaked, and it's the deluxe edition too. Just thought you would be interested.

| ASnideReturns Haven't laughed that hard in a while man. Holy s***.
| Pennywise_M Well.. i'm just gonna leave this here then: https://elisionofanimus.bandcamp.com/
| Pennywise_M Hey there, acknowledged sputbro/fb friend. Care to check the new EP me and my friend dropped?
| Toondude10 They're fantastic, check out Tactical Neural Impact when you get a chance.
| Toondude10 here's something you might like: https://play.spotify.com/album/1ItAS5PdZ6kmFxeKXMB6aT
| SachikoM Buckle your seatbelt. Plague Mother - Obsessions, Internal Suffering - Chaotic Matrix, Otomo Yoshihide and Sachiko M - Filament #1, Eliane Radigue - Trilogie de la Mort (perfect opiate music), and Pierre Boulez - Complete Webern: Opp 1-31.
| SachikoM I tend to start really energised, and then slowly become more and more lethargic, until I fall asleep and "opiate dreams" carry me away. I love it. On an unrelated note, looking at your avicii soundoff, I notice you still enjoy listening to music that you know you'll hate. Do you want me to rec you some stuff that you will hate?
| SachikoM Zoinks. I tend to turn on some drone and pin myself to the floor. Never tried wanking while high, I feel like the experience would be bittersweet. Otherwise, I tend to write. I can come up with some crazy stuff when I'm high.
| SachikoM Nice. What do you do when you're high?
| SachikoM Percocet and Euhypnos atm. Cycling between the two.
| Toondude10 Well their new album just came out a couple days ago, thought you might be interested.
| Toondude10 couldn't help but notice you haven't rated Sevendust at all.
| ExhaleTheLight Hey I noticed you're a strong BTBAM fan, any idea where I can listen to Alaska (instrumental), can't find it anywhere. I enjoy your reviews btw
| ExplosiveOranges all i need is a wig like this: http://cache.voguewigs.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/840x1120/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/w/b/wb-cl-137-boss_0_strawberry-blonde.jpg

| ExplosiveOranges in the inevitable event of my friends throwing a halloween party this year, i shall choose my wardrobe in a way that resembles the man who will make america great again
| Toondude10 https://play.spotify.com/album/6bHykFzxQSacJoIx6Nj8Yr It's got Bjorn Strid in it.
| ASnideReturns I will review it, but some real life stuff is going on right now.
| Toondude10 how much is that saying though? Guess I'll be the one to do the review then
| Toondude10 were you going to do that new Trivium album or was it too boring for you to waste your time on :P
| Nocturnalize I've been lazy as **** lately haven't even started it lol
| Futures oh no haha. oh should i check the new periphery albums?
| Futures i'd have to get really inspired tbh
| Futures it's an optical illusion bro
| Asdfp277 nop I'm not an alt but I s***post @ like 3000 sps so maybe that's my username rings a bell tho

| Nimb49 Onkyo: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=159598 ; I used to love metal, but I was never a great fan of the more melodic subgenres, I much referred dm and doom.
| Nimb49 Okay, assuming that we're going to say ambient/drone, noise, metal and onkyo are all amelodic (blanket statements, but somewhat justified), I would say (for album examples); loscil - submers (really lush ambient techno), codeine - the white birch (I like a fair bit of slowcore), mineral - endserenading (midwest/twinkly emo is my next favourite genre outside of noise and experimental), swervedriver - mezcal head, gang of four - entertainment (and post-punk in general). I can keep going...
| Nimb49 That's probably as thematically and emotionally intense, but sonically easy as PE gets tbh.
| Nimb49 Sweeet. The hardest thing for most to stomach is the radical themes behind it all, but if you can ignore that, it is probably his least noisy and most well-constructed work. I'm glad you enjoyed it though, I was intrigued as to what reaction you would have, as it can be quite divisive.
| Nimb49 I'll be interested in your reaction...
| Nimb49 I can shoot you a link if you need one.
| Nimb49 Has a couple of moments, but it's not very good. Did you have a go at that koufar album?
| Nimb49 That beatdown album you recced me was horrendous from the tracks I heard...
| Toondude10 yeah, nothing particularly innovative but the vocals are pretty good. Lyrics sometimes are kinda dumb sometimes though.
| Toondude10 Just found these guys on Spotify. If you want something similar but better than Disturbed you might like this: https://play.spotify.com/album/5QGzowifkq6JRkXIKCjIjM
| Nimb49 It is industrial territory, but it is far removed from your NIN or Skinny Puppy type industrial, so brace yourself.
| Nimb49 I made a list about the genre on my old account.http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=158467
| Nimb49 DISCLAIMER: it is power electronics.
| Nimb49 I'm not a huge fan of beatdown and downtempo deathcore tbh, but I'll check it out, i don't see why not. Based on the cover though, it looks like it's probably core related if anything. Since you seem willing to try all kinds of music, I recommend you try the new koufar album.
| DatsNotDaMetulz Keep trying but still no luck. Hope a mod can fix it anyway.
| bloc Shiiiit there's a new one!? Thanks for the warning :)
| Pon Don't try and turn this around on me lol
| Pon Case was closed before it even begun matey
| Pon ..and I'm the one being passive aggressive practice what you preach mofugga
| Pon "I dedicate this review to Jac" lol good one
| Pon And if what you listen to is "none of my business" then why did you apply to be a contributor on a music site where your opinions and the manner in which you express them are going to subject to scrutiny lol. Try and use that line in your defense the next time you post some half-hearted 1.5 review of a brocore album because voicing your opinions to the world via the internet is totally reflective of somebody who believes their opinions are wholly and solely "their business".
| Pon I'm not being passive-aggressive I'm being plain-old aggressive get it right
| Pon How is posting a two-word sound off ripping on the s***tiest of bands in a vain attempt at look like you have standards (when you probably enjoy them in secret) not asinine? As always you just deflect any semblance of criticism onto the person giving it to you, and this is why people think you're a idiot.
| Pon I'm just consistently astounded by how you go out of your way to pan albums/bands you know you're going to hate, I mean Fronzilla? Falsifier? BFMV? No one thinks big of you for trashing those bands, it makes you look like a try hard.
| FearThyEvil Could only listen to half of it. My god that was awful
| FearThyEvil No, s*** I keep forgetting. I got back from vacation on Friday but been grinding Destiny trials all ****ing weekend. I'll check it out tomorrow or sometime this week. Guarantee my reaction will be similar to yours.
| FearThyEvil Thanks for the heads up. Tomorrow i head back home but I'll see if I can download it here. The wifi down here is ****ing horrendous for our room but I think I can manage.
| Deviant. Nope, my powers are limited in that department (it's more of an admin thing). Flick Jom a message and he can change it for you though
| TalonsOfFire Hey dude I know you're a big Periphery and BTBAM head so wanted to link you to this, I think you'd enjoy it a lot: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/67887/Mendel-Oblivion/
| Deviant. It's not broken. Just anytime a review written by a user with a title (staff or contrib) is published it will immediately default to it. I changed it back
| FearThyEvil His vocals are one of my favorite parts about the band.
| FearThyEvil I'll listen after the vacation just out of curiosity alone. I'm definitely going to jam new LoG when that drops though. Huge fan of theirs even though it's pretty standard metal these days but me and my buddies love em. Great live shows too
| FearThyEvil Yeah down Ocean City, Maryland which is a shore point with lots of stuff to do. As for the album, considering you said it's beatdown that instantly sounds awful. There's no appeal in listening to music that sounds like a constant chugging breakdown that's even worse than deathcore. I don't understand how people love that s***. To be fair too, the users who are getting pissy are known for having some pretty questionable taste in music.
| FearThyEvil Why would you hate to bring that upon me? I'm always up for discussion, man. As for the band/album I haven't listened and probably won't be able to check till next weekend. I'm down the shore atm so I don't have much time to listen to releases. As for the band what genre are they?
| Toondude10 I think you might like this. http://fromthedeepband.bandcamp.com/album/the-absurd-horror
| melodicdrama Hi. I meant that there were not enough growls on Coma Ecliptic
| Deviant. Were you on a late 90s/early 00s female pop singer binge? Just approved your database edits
| Toondude10 the second half is awesome. A Principal God is my favorite song off the album.
| Toondude10 btw, did you listen to that Voices from the Fuselage album yet?
| Toondude10 Celldweller just announced the Death EP, thought I'd let you know.
| Toondude10 This has the same vocalist from TesseracT's second album. Thought you might be interested. https://play.spotify.com/album/7x5G9RHM5xbGLEQgZ3LReb
| Rowan5215 overall I really enjoyed it - favourite aspects were the opening and closing music (incredible tone), Farrell and McAdams' acting and the dark humour - "You're supposed to savour that" "Let me try it again". Least favourite aspects were some cringeworthy dialogue and lack of characterisation for Vaughn and Kitsch who I'm not entirely sold on yet. Plot is moving slow but leading to interesting things
| Rowan5215 for sure - they pull off the Mason subplot absolutely superbly and then the finale is just ****ing insanity
| Rowan5215 Third series is a lot more subtle and artsy so far, been little to no explicit violence like in previous series - it's an interesting gamble and it's too early to say yet how it's paying off. You missed out on S2 though dude, second half of that thing was golden
| Rowan5215 Dude you been watching the new Hannibal??
| Arcade sweet looking forward to it. gonna re-jam Parallax 2 and TGM in prep
| Arcade you gonna be reviewing it?
| Arcade not yet but i imagine i'll enjoy it as much as their last 4 albums which i thought were ok
| coneren HEY DO YOU HAVE AN OLD LADY BECAUSE I ONLY TRY TO BANG LADIES IF THEY HAVE A BOYFRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!
| coneren DONT YOU EVER SAY THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!IM JUST HERE FOR THE LADIES
| coneren THE ONLY FUUCKIN REVIEW I ACTUALLY WROTE MYSELF GOTD
| coneren YEAH AND REALLY DRUNK!!!NICE DIG NEW FNM ROCKED

| Arcade my original shoutbox got cut off wtf I'll post it in thread in a min
| Gameofmetal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zYIPIYPBM0
| ArsMoriendi Dude, I think its a lost cause. I don't really like Muse's sound in general.
| Jom I'm not sure. J hasn't been around in eons so I'm not sure what his plans are.
| Jom We would prefer that the exploitable not be used because of how much of a cluster**** it causes and I would appreciate not having to deal with the headache.
| The777777thVermicide Yeah, anyways reapers, the handler, defector and 2/3 of the globalist are excellent, is a shame that the ending of globalist is kinda dissapointing
| The777777thVermicide Well I will keep djentin after I listen more properly drones, that album is between 3 and 3,5. Still better than the 2nd law
| paradox1216 Thanks dude =) back in february - it was just as much a surprise for me haha. I had missed the window to apply due to being busy with health stuff but I had expressed to someone that I was definitely interested in the position and the powers that b decided to promote me =D
| cryptside Yeah, Insidious is sweet man haha. Such a good flick, and they do very cool stylized jump scares (didn't even think it was possible lol).
| LilLioness Was going to review it, but I gotta pass. Time is better spent keeping my writing going.
| Rowan5215 Honestly if they could find a balance between longer, more experimental stuff like in the Company of Wolves (great jam), short catchy jams like Absolution Calling and songs like the t/t they could have a lot more decent work left in em
