| teamster Hey bud. Check out the latest Leonov album. Postmetal with female vocals.
| teamster Hey PP. I?m not 100% sure but I think that ?new? YONL album is a compilation album of older stuff. Somewhere around 2006. It?s so old they have vocals, lol. I am diggin it too, even tho the production is a bit pedestrian. I have a rec for ya :Novere - Nothing Stays Hidden In Daylight Short and sweet decent post metal album. Not ground breaking but I am missing this kind of approach. Post metal on the down swing I?m afraid.
| teamster Yea it?s terrific. Love the new direction. I?ve been playing the new Elder non stop forever now. New Fen single is out. Check out the video! Holy moly ?
| teamster Couple of bands have new releases : The Ever Living and Process Of Guilt. I like both of these bands a lot.
| teamster Oh , ha sorry PP : Hundred Year Old Man?I still gotta check that Russian Circles tune?
| teamster BOG has a new EP. I seem to remember their debut album not having vocals. Gotta re-check that.
| teamster Oh I see you heard it already, my bad. Let?s try another?new Helms Alee is out in a few days. Listened to a couple singles off it.
| teamster Hey PP. New E-L-R is pretty sexy.
| teamster New Gloson is out. Pretty good.
| teamster Been a while since I pinged you friend. New Hemelbestormer is good. It?s called Collide and Merge.
| teamster Hey PP. as others have mentioned in the migration thread I think it?s very possible material was purposefully left off this. One listen in I do like it. I am not an ambient/electronic dude but those interludes do sound cool; overall production is fantastic. Solid 4 from me. Are you going to review it? I might for the other metal webzine I contribute to.
| teamster Did you ever check out Pull Down The Sun - Of Valleys And Mountains? Arguably my 2020 AOTY
| teamster New Moanaa is ****ing fantastic.
| teamster https://moanaa.bandcamp.com/track/liePrelude for things to come?

| teamster Local band here coming out with a new album. Check out one of their older albums:http://sleestak.bandcamp.com/album/the-fall-of-altrusia
| teamster Wolfe gave me an obscure rec: I know its up your alleyhttps://youtu.be/Y38p6SaAtpk
| IsildursBane44 Ohhhh ok. Haven't seen the movie, but I think I've heard of it.
| IsildursBane44 Hahaha. You good. I was going to ask what it meant to you but forgot. My mistake.
| teamster New Gloson album complete ...look for release date soon.
| IsildursBane44 Dude! Pistol Pete Maravich is such an underrated basketball legend. Nice to see some recognition.
| Tunaboy45 Haha yeah I didn't realise you'd named both of them so I just added it! And no worries, thanks for taking part
| Tunaboy45 yo you were right about it being ~one~ of those Swans albums if you can guess which
| teamster A little softer. Clean vocals. Post-hardcore-ish. I love the guitar tone. Do you like Everything In Slow Motion or Hands? You will like this:http://riverbeds.bandcamp.com/album/care
| teamster Brother , that Holy Fawn album...wow. Great sound!
| teamster http://morneband.bandcamp.com/album/rustForgot these guys had a new album last year

| teamster Check out the latest from E-L-R
| teamster Have you checked the new PSOTY ? Can?t remember if I asked you...
| Icebloom Haha okay, not a very original rec then. Will report if i need some more good post-metal!
| Icebloom In return (though maybe uncalled for haha) I'd rec you the album Myra by Spurv. It's more on the post rock side of things, but you might still dig it.
| Icebloom Ah thanks! These should keep me busy for a while, since I'm not very fast at checking out music. More recs are welcome though, I'll just add them to the pile.
| Icebloom Oh apparently this site does not like apostrophes and hyphens, sorry for the mess
| Icebloom I experienced the same thing with Alcest, another band I?ve been listening to lately. I understood from your recent list (and your pie chart) that post-metal is kind of your thing. Do you maybe know some post-metal albums with cleaner vocals and/or only infrequent, spread-out use of harsh vocals? Would be great if you?d know some recs!
| Icebloom Hey man, random dude here. I was wondering if you could help me with something. Do you maybe have some post-metal recs for me? I?ve been meaning to get more into post-metal lately, but I have problems stomaching the harsh vocals of the genre. With bands like Neurosis and Cult of Luna, I couldn?t really get past the vocals. But somehow, ISIS? Panopticon has grown to be one of my favourite albums ? maybe because the vocals are used more sparsely and are combined with cleaner vocals.
| OmairSh Hahah damn dude, we've been beside each other for 5 years without knowing. My number's 4168354514, you can message me on whatsapp. We can definitely meet up sometime.
| OmairSh Thanks for the compliment Pete! Glad you enjoyed the videos :-). I guess I've always had smartass tendencies, so that might help with the responses haha. Tbh before a scene I'm worried about messing up, but we all go with the flow.It really helps working with other people that are sharp and know how to carry a scene forward. I'm thinking of working with 2-3 of them and performing improv at an open mic night sometime. I'm in Toronto, living in the mid town area by myself. Are you also in Toronto?
| OmairSh I performed some improv in case you're interested to check it out https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=673174
| OmairSh Ah okay cool, so you're using excel A LOT eh heh. Do you enjoy it? It's good that you're able to maintain the gym routine, physical fitness really helps in mental wellbeing. I think Pitfalls is alright, my expectations were nil tbh, so that probably helped. But recently I've only been listening to Distant Bells and Foreigner. Yeah man Bilateral is a beast, I heard a few songs after a while and it reminds me of when I was addicted to it
| OmairSh What kind of job are you doing now? Yeah man I hear you, new jobs always require some adjustment period. It helps if your manager is good though, I guess I got lucky there. Kickboxing is great man, I used to go to the gym but wouldn't last more than 2 months, which is why I wanted organized classes. Its a great workout, and I'm starting to feel more fit 2 weeks in. I'd say try one class and see how you like it
| OmairSh Glad to hear about your job situation man, and it's always great when your partner is supportive, so thats good to hear. If you're frustrated at work it can really affect things in your personal life. I'm good man, started a new job a month ago, settling in. Trying to keep myself busy with activities like kickboxing, improv sessions, etc. Stuff that I enjoy doing
| OmairSh Haha I know right, what timing. Yeah I hear you about Leprous. I couldn't get into Malina so my expectations are pretty low. Which means the album might pleasantly surprise me. According to Trey's review it seems even more Einar centric, not surprised there. Lets see.
| OmairSh Hola Pete, how've you been man?
| teamster New Sorxe is out if u want something abit more sludgier...
| teamster Ok will check Ghost Of Glaciers...thanks Pete!
| teamster Yup I got the new Cranial on Apple Music!
| teamster Indeed I have listened to Degraey. Top 10 album this year. Check out Autism - have you found peace yet?
| teamster http://throughloverec.bandcamp.com/album/ne-nder
| teamster Check out Their Methlab - The Last Second
| SitarHero Aight man, you should have access to the doc now.
| SitarHero Sure thing man, there's nothing major that needs fixing and it's a well thought-out review which is why it deserves a closer look through to tighten up all those little things. I did a quick proofread for you: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SAloVCNdg_lyJuTsuY3r2lJTcDg_4h7F7s2XCSHoHEg/edit
| teamster Thanks for the PP. Looking forward to it. My favorite post metal album so far this year is Cartographs - Wilt and Blossom
| Sowing Interesting. That description makes them sound a lot like Endless Heights, who I also enjoy.
| teamster The new Spotlights album rips! Check it out!http://spotlights.bandcamp.com/
| teamster Droning, psyche, instrumental post metalhttp://theirmethlab.bandcamp.com/album/the-last-second

| teamster https://dunkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/all-anchors-no-sails
| fromtheinside TNC is awful haha they tried too hard. I'll always have a soft spot for them, but if they don't figure out why they were actually different soon, I'm afraid they're coming to an end.
| fromtheinside your review popped up for chevys ttot while i scrolled through earlier just wanted to say hats off
| teamster https://templeoftorturous.bandcamp.com/album/anhedonia
| teamster best semi-instrumental post metal album of the year so far:http://ingrina.bandcamp.com/
| teamster http://theeverliving.bandcamp.com/album/herephemine
| guitarded_chuck yo bro noticed your soundoff and noticed you hadnt heard live.love.asap yet, check it almost for sure his best
| teamster Yep. I do prefer Anciients tho.
| teamster Yes I have heard of them. Good stuff indeed. Now my turn : Check out the band Postvorta. Italian postmetal band. Their latest is excellent.
| osmark86 haha I see what you mean. we actually have some "monster songs" in that they're a little bit longer than your average pop song, but some tracks we do keep it quite short. yeah definitely try to pick up an instrument, it's hugely satisfying to be able to play something even if it's just for yourself.
| osmark86 Btw dude, do you make some music yourself? Would love to hear some if you do mate
| OmairSh Yo Pistol, I haven't really bothered with Malina tbh. I mainly listen to Stuck and occasionally some bits of other songs. It really hasn't clicked with me at all unfortunately
| GhostOfSarcasticBtrd I hadn't seen any MH review in the feature box yet, so idk. Regardless, I think yours should be the flagged review. Wish it had lyrics from the end of "Half the World" in the summary but beggars can't be choosers, haha.
| RogueNine I swear you're my musical neighbor, haha. Chevelle, Red and post-metal.
| OmairSh And fo sho. Deadwing is my favourite PT. I like a lot of their albums obviously, but Deadwing was the first album that I listened to completely. Great times. Oh yeah man, what happened to Jolly? Thanks to you reminding me, I jammed a few songs again. Such a good band. Really enjoyed the last song they put out, Ava
| OmairSh Yoo Pistol. How goes it? Tbh my expectations are dampened for the new Leprous album. I liked the single, but it feels like they're really taming the beast that created albums like TPS and Bilateral. I embrace a change of sound, but I hope they don't lose the x factor that made me fall in love with them. This year hasn't been good. POS, Anathema, releasing average albums
| Rowan5215 hey man, if you could hit me with your email we can get you writing for the top 50 list
| Jom As long as you did the Google Form, it's guaranteed to be seen by the contribs. Whether or not they rebuke your request is up to them, though, but I can try to put in a good word for the reigning Prediction Contest champion of 2014 (given that we didn't run one last year)!
| Jom Hey dude, thank you for voting! Wanted to alert you that the Kendrick comp would fall under an LP vs. an EP for this particular feature, so if you wanted to adjust it before Tuesday, you are more than welcome to do so. We don't exactly have the best system here, but I appreciate your contribution. Thanks!
| OmairSh It's got an upbeat vibe similar to Lucky, and it's not groundbreaking, but it's catchy. Plus it's the single so there's definitely a lot more interesting stuff on the actual album. I'm originally from Pakistan.
| OmairSh Yo Pistol have you checked this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfSCIIL-zTI
| GooGooGajoob Bit late to the Karnivool review...how about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvwmFoql0lg
| OmairSh It took me a while to digest her screams, because I normally don't like metalcore-ish screams, but they do compliment the album. She's got good cleans as well. The instrumentalists are top notch, and a solid rhythm section is always a reminder as to why it's such an important part of a band's identity.
| OmairSh Btw the Obscure Sphinx album you reviewed is pretty damn good. Has some deliciously filthy guitar and bass tones. I LOVE Decimation's intro, flucking fantastic. And it's great to be able to actually hear the bassist in a metal band.
| OmairSh I've heard about the Skyharbour album. It's gotten rave reviews. Might check it out, thanks.
| OmairSh And the album's a solid 4 atm and still growing. Why did I ever doubt this band? Btw tell me similar albums to the congregation, I want to add them to the review
| OmairSh He's being the good fan and waiting for the CD to arrive. I admire him for that, but I'm not that strong :-P. I'll be buying the mp3/FLAC version when it's available online though. Gotsta support this band. Yeah I actually didn't expect such a positive response to the album, so I'm happy to see it. Actually the Coal review was featured and the album got reasonably hyped back then. I don't know if my summary is off putting or the review doesn't paint a positive enough of a picture.
| OmairSh Dude is a vocal monster, one of the best and most refreshing voices in metal imo. Dude will you type lyrics on the Congregation thread already. It's been like 2 days and it still seems like there is no hype about the album on here. Triumphant and Within My Fence have such fantastic choruses.
| OmairSh Einar at his best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT2YSvZ7QWE, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BfeL02HaYA
| OmairSh I wrote my review after around 10 listens (which included a 2 day break between as well) so that I could digest it. My opinion is still aligned with the review, but I feel the album will grow now that I'm taking another break from it :-P.
| OmairSh The second half is more moody for sure, but it's cool in its own way. But it wouldn't be a Leprous album if it didn't take a while to fully understand it right?
| OmairSh What's your general perception of the album so far?
| OmairSh Leprous AMA! https://www.reddit.com/r/progmetal/comments/37d19f/we_are_leprous_ask_us_anything_you_want_to_know/
| OmairSh Thanks man. Just keep the grand scheme of things in mind. It's Leprous (more like Einar) releasing another album with a different feel to add to their evolving discog.
| OmairSh New Leprous is out dude!.........In Europe :-P.
| OmairSh Heh nice, I've never checked it out, might do that. Have you checked Big Wreck's Ghost? Pretty interesting rock album, not your standard rock affair
| fromtheinside the only part i don't like about "that" review is that every song is a single line haha but that was your dumb friend, i think you and I both get how chevy is BARELY single only material, like single, radio... cause, jesus, if i hear one more comparison to three days grace i might off myself
| OmairSh If I'm lucky, they'll something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQOLYA4o5Fg
| OmairSh Leprous' drummer has parted with the band :-O. They have replaced him with a great drummer but still that sucks.
| OmairSh I would like their next record to be better than Coal, and I want to be surprised a little by the direction. The problem with releasing brilliant albums is the expectations rise. I've been listening to random genres, from electronic (todd terje), to prog metal (Fates Warning), to art rock (Blackfield), to indie (The National). Music mood swings :P
| OmairSh Oh and I jammed Bilateral after a while. Still can't believe how an album that I know so well can still surprise me with its quality. Fvcking brilliant band. Anxiously waiting their next record.
| OmairSh Yeah it wasn't that difficult to listen to their albums. I checked them out around a year back, pretty interesting stuff. I wish the vocalist would stop "roughening" his vocals like Kurt Cobaine, it really annoys me. He actually has a good voice if he uses it properly
| OmairSh Yeah man that's what the relatively unknown European bands have to go through. Even Anathema didn't have a proper US tour for over 20 years due to the costs, ridiculous. I wouldn't mind seeing a cover band even at this point.
| OmairSh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt6cEqtvUHM Restless Dare you. ****ing hell I shat myself. The way they translate the intensity on stage is ridiculous. That ****ing growl during the transition is immense
| Mad. I've dabbled in DLC before but never listened to a full album, maybe I'll have to! Seriously though Thumpermonkey is incredible
| Mad. Those are all on bandcamp and the last two are Aussie prog, which you seem to dig
| Mad. Yeah, I've got Frames 4.5'd and Effloresce 4.0'd but haven't checked EIP yet. They're quite a hard band to digest, I'm taking my time! I reviewed Echo Street if you're interested, it's probably slightly above Insider in my ranking and definitely worth a listen if just for Matmos, but doesn't touch The Octopus which is superb. I reckon you'd definitely like Thumpermonkey - Sleep Furiously (a huge grower and a bit like Oceansize), Anubis - A Tower of Silence and Projected Twin - Earth to World.
| Mad. Yo mah nigga, awesome taste. You're a lil too harsh on Amplifier - Insider tho!
| osmark86 yeah, we're working on some new stuff atm. probs will go into the studio earliest in the summer if everything goes according to plan. thanks btw, really appreciate it mate.
| osmark86 totally missed that you dug my band's EP. thanks a bunch man! cheers ^^
| larrytheslug you got meditite and sawk in su safari. i cant see your third dude yet.
| larrytheslug ill get back to you on that. skarmorys are a great lead and typing. klefki is also good typing with prankster ability. imma play sometime tomorrow, ill check out your safari.
| OmairSh Finally someone appreciates the album :D. It takes quite a while to get into, but boy is it rewarding. Band is pretty consistent
| Vooligan Yeh, defs a grower. Check out Helm's new record, too. It's fantastic.
| OmairSh Hell yeah BSB were life back during the good old days m/. And I know "Waste of air's" pretty extreme isn't it? Its definitely an acquired taste. Great contrast to the song before it as well as after it. Dudes vocals are immense, diverse and powerful as is the bands music
| OmairSh Also Backstreet boys ftw pop/
| OmairSh I think you'll enjoy them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9o2nVY8FZ0
| OmairSh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=986iAyQpr1U REEESTLEEES!!! (Ignore the shower scene :P)Band is incredible one of the frontrunners of furture prog metal, very underrated
| OmairSh Dude check Leprous - Bilateral now
| tiesthatbind Yeah I know that feeling, about 3 and a half years or so ago when I got into Dream Theater they were the first prog band that I'd gotten into and I was just blown away. I barely listened to any other band for a while, I went through their discography quickly and was impressed by the majority of their albums. Even though I enjoy other prog bands more nowadays, DT is where it all started for me.
| tiesthatbind So yeah Panopticon is amazing. Looks like I've found another discography to explore!
| tiesthatbind I've meant to listen to them but for some reason I never got to it. I'll definitely check that out, I haven't been excited about much new hard rock in a while so hopefully they can change that.
| tiesthatbind Glad you're liking DT, I don't listen to them as much anymore (burned out on them unfortunately) but Scenes From a Memory is a brilliant album and still one of my all-time favorites. Riverside is definitely influenced by them. They pretty much took elements of a bunch of different prog bands including DT, PT, and Opeth and combined them all into a unique sound. I guess I'll check Panopticon first, thanks. Almost as good as Chevelle, eh? ;)
| tiesthatbind If you want a Buckethead rec, for you I'd recommend Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot, it's pretty metal-oriented but still melodic and one of his easier ones to get into. Now, which Isis album should I start with? I don't really have any experience with post-metal but I see Vheissu compared to them a lot and that's one of my favorite albums ever so I figure I need to give them a shot.
| tiesthatbind Thanks man, yeah it took longer than I thought too, I know there could be more but if I did anything like that again it would be for individual bands or something, cause I just kept wanting to put more Riverside moments. You really do have more similar tastes to me than most users on this site, that hard rock/prog mix is something I don't see from many people on here.
| tiesthatbind Check out my "favorite moments in music" list when you get the chance, pretty different overall but I have a few of the same ones you put on yours.
| cb123 yeah i used to do that aswell until a lot of the mediafire links got taken down so kinda forced into trying out the others a bit more
| Masochist Oh, man, ITCOTCK is something else entirely! If you dig Pink Floyd, you should, at the very least, be able to appreciate King Crimson, if not love them. Just watch out for the last 9-and-a-half minutes of "Moonchild." And if you like their first album, also check out 'Red'.
| cb123 lol ok, weird :p filestube is usually a good place to search for things on filesharing sites ive found
| bloc Haha, I'm not the one to ask when it comes to mainstream rock recs dude!
| bloc It was really bad. Think all that crap played on the radio but several times more annoying.
| ProfessorVeerappan you have off shot into so many other genre so thats why you cannot hear 1 full album in all also whatever it is of so much of Progression then have you heard Echolyn
| macadoolahicky Hell yeah it does! I need to listen to it in full again before I rate it, though. It's actually on my to-buy list.
| macadoolahicky Profile picture is just a random picture I found that had my mind trippin balls. My avatar is Bjork ^.^
| tiesthatbind Yeah I'm really loving Oceansize right now, although I still prefer Effloresce to Frames by a bit. I'll check out that album, thanks for the rec.
| fromtheinside better than ttot ans damn close to wwn. its theory best in years. mastodon and soad rifts everywjere
| tiesthatbind If you like an epic rock sound (which it looks like you do) you'll be addicted by the time the second track finishes. And yeah, I actually started off here as a mainstream rock guy, but that's changed a lot these last couple years, I've been getting more and more into prog as of late. I've got Oceansize's first album and I like it a lot, so I'll definitely snag the rest of their discography pretty soon.
| tiesthatbind Since you 5'd Deadwing, you should check out Riverside's Second Life Syndrome, you would love it.
| DeadStarShine How dare you calling BB a s*** band when listening LP? You bastard . Hey, I'm kidding! But seriously, it's like me, who occasionally listen to Simple Plan, started trashing out Yellocard for being too teenagerish. I'll have to listen to the album you rec me. But actually I'm more turned into alternative stuff now. Things like Radiohead, Anberlin, Parades. Try Parades, they're a surpisingly good thing around now.
| DeadStarShine That sound like me at times. Speaking about reviews, I've just submitted one on Breaking Benjamin's best of, if you wanna take a look.
| DeadStarShine I definitely see some similarities. The obvious difference is that you write one for pretty much every album you rate LOL. I see we have some bands in common too.
| BallsToTheWall No dont think that was her, posted a vi on shadowsremain page, watch that and see if you can tell who that is.
| bry11 Thanks for the recommendation, I have heard a few songs off the new Alice In Chains but haven't yet actually sat down and played the whole album through. I will check it out. By the way, awesome review on Sci-Fi Crimes
