| Systemunfolded Yeah, but unlike the pst couple of years, I intend to make this a GOOD experience for me lol
| Systemunfolded I've taken a small hiatus from sputnik for summer break, but lately i've commented on some things to re-familiarize myself with the site for the upcoming junior year but a few days away :)
| Sowing When we look at contributors we want someone who has proven three things: quality writing, consistency (you don't need to write a review every day, we just want to know you won't disappear after getting promoted), and attention to new releases. There are always other things that come into play, such as your relationship with other users, side contributions such as news, band edits, and additions to the database, and your overall demeanor on the site.
| Mikesn Haha, that's basically his music in a nutshell. I kinda felt the same way when I first heard it, but the longer songs grow on you
| Mikesn It's hard to go wrong with any of his solo albums except for the last one, but Avalanche is his best for sure.
| KILL sweet glad someone checked em out
| MGMTBoys Also, anybody who takes the album seriously has a head full of rocks. xD That album I can tell you right now is comprised of joke material. Our other releases, not so much.
| MGMTBoys But I'll tell you what; just because you actually go on the Rest facebook page sometimes, we'll upload it on mediafire.
| MGMTBoys is all from 2009-2010, so our ninth grade year, aside from the I'll Tumble For ya' joke cover and the Peter Gabriel Is A Pimp song.
| MGMTBoys Alex here, I really don't think anybody can review what hasn't been put on the internet. It was released in like 300 copies that we self released. I love how assholes have been giving it a 1/5 just for having the Rest name on it. If you really want you can seek out the individual tracks, but I doubt anybody could find them all online, and I doubt that anybody can review what they can't hear unless they personally contact us. I can tell you this though: there's autotune in like every track and it
| YoYoMancuso Ten rules although i consider Vitalogy their best work-it'll be up soon enough
| YoYoMancuso haha no problem man. i'm startin my Pearl Jam series soon so be on the lookout for that
| SgtPepper Hey, I'm 19 myself. Anyway, good work on the review.
| SgtPepper Oh yeah, I'll definitely take a look. Reading it now. Oh, and Happy Birthday!
| SgtPepper Hey, I just saw your comment. And yeah, I'll definitely review the album. I actually ordered it and I'm just waiting for it to come. I'm excited for the album, I've always digged Testament.
| breakingthefragile Okay then man, I wasn't accusing you of accusing me, I just felt the need to explain myself because of this whole incident.
| breakingthefragile Below are the comments with an explanation for all this, sorry there's so many of them. It sucks for me now because of him and my trust and allowance, my ratings will be brought into question in the future. There's nothing I can do about this now unfortunately, his damage has been done, but I hope you believe my explanation, and I assure you I am not a plagiarist. If I was, then why would I steal just the ratings and the reviews themselves?
| breakingthefragile it really sucks that this now going to make me out to look like a plagiarist and a bad example now that I am a contributor. I?m not shifting the blame to my friend, I?m equally responsible for this by putting confidence in someone else and allowing them to rate music under my name without questioning if it was coming from somewhere, and I know this seems like a likely story, but I ask you to please believe me, and again I apologize.
| breakingthefragile I?m also embarrassed to say that I?ve never heard of allmusic until this recently came to my attention and my now ex-friend confessed to me that the ratings he?d say were all from allmusic, as he was trying to impress me or something. I?d let him rate things because he?d seem to know what I thought best, but now that I know he was taking a cheating way out, and hiding anything (including your comment) that would have indicated this whole farce to me,
| breakingthefragile Hey, allow me to apologize for the confusion, and explain this whole thing a bit. This is probably going to leak into more than one comment. I'm embarrassed to say that my account is technically a shared account, I'm very indecisive when it comes to ratings, because I have a lot to say about the albums themselves, and ever since I started reviewing I?ve kind of developed a partnership between myself and a friend of mine, with him always handling the ratings because he always seemed to know best.
| Irving Easy: I'm the good-looking one ;) Haha!
| Yuli Hey man, thanks a ton. :] it's much appreciated. i gotta say, when I see your profile picture I'm reminded of the album "And The Glass Handed Kites" by Mew.
| SgtPepper Thank you, mate. That's very kind of you to say. I am a little disappointed, but there's always next time.
| DaveyBoy Ooh, toughie. Tough to split Full Collapse and Common Existence. Both fairly different and recorded at different stages of their career.
| Deviant. You'll have to ask the mods in the meds thread man, I can't anything
| Sowing I don't know actually. It's been at least 2 years since I've listened to it, and when I rated it I didn't really like Radiohead. A lot has changed since then.
| KILL cant really say but i know hemispheres and a farewell to kings are tops
| Ire idk some gay guy
| autopilotoff Oh wow. Since last year and I didn't know. That's great, I hope we can hear new stuff soon =)
| Kellerdeck They have like, no members left from slob, so it was the new members insulting and acting like kids. The old guys definitely would've been much cooler about me asking what happened to their old vocalist. Nobody in that recoding except the guitarist are in the band as they are currently.
| Kellerdeck They're good up until Social Event Of The Century. The band's drummer just insulted my mother and s*** over their facebook page, and I got him so butthurt it isn't even funny. Only it is. He went on to insult the old band members and say they 'sucked dick' and were 'drug addicts'. He was a class act. This song from SLOB, their first album, sums up the dr. acula that will always be one of my favorites http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h94zxH9voRE
| Kellerdeck Yeah. You're one of the more respectable people on this site. I just hope we can live up to what your expectations are. :P Also, you know the band Dr.Acula?
| Kellerdeck Guess I won't bitch about you changing your rating. I won't hate you for it because at least you're kind about things. Our new stuff is definitely getting rid of the lo-fi. That vocalist is still there though. Not going to be used as much however.
| Kellerdeck I'm the fellow on the right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FvC8OOHz4wWe did that interview for a Metal Blog earlier this month.
| PistolPete You have a nice diverse taste in music. If you haven't already heard the second fleet foxes album from last year, all i can say is it 1-up'd the debut album.
| PistolPete anyone who can pull of the catfish moustache is a champ in my mind, speaking of creepy pics...your profile pic?
| Kellerdeck I wasn't present for the recording of the first album, and the lineup you hear there broke up. It later reformed, and the vocalist you hear in that album is the only original member left in the band, which we're currently reforming with new members. We decided to release it now in order to give us something to show while we get our things together. I am one of the new vocalists.
| Kellerdeck Sounds good to me. You can rate the actual album if you want.
| KILL of course hes a master, i do prefer his work in genesis though
| Crysis cats and space whats not to love
| Kellerdeck I'm in a band that's on Sputnik. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/48721/Rest-Rest/ Maybe you'd like it. If you're one of the haters, don't be afraid to rate it anyway, I won't despise you if you don't like it. http://www.mediafire.com/?wfknic34ubh82cs
| Kellerdeck Lo-fi grindcore/powerviolence? With Groove Metal influences?
| fromtheinside Nickelback makes music politicians run for presidency to. Give them their credit.
| fromtheinside I do what I want. Have you heard that nickelback album?
| Crysis Nope, never heard anything by them. What's their best album?
| Eclecticist Okay cool! lol don't thank me man I owe it to you when you rate the album! You are helping give dues where dues have been earned by Weathertunes for creating such a fantastic album!
| XfingTheSullen you wanted a good modern death metal album suggestion: check out Miseration - The Mirroring Shadow. Brutal death metal with no melodic influences.. very brutal (that's a given) and has some really memorable songs.
| Eclecticist Here you go man! http://www.mediafire.com/?00atta0fk2tand lol that is kind of cool
| Eclecticist Hey dude I was wondering if you wouldn't mind quickly rating Palm Beach by Weathertunes for me? I would greatly appreciate it if you did! Thanks!
| ITsHxCTOASTER No problem man. And I prefer Immolation's Close to a World Below over Majesty and Decay, But CtaWB came out in 2000
| ITsHxCTOASTER Now I can't tell you I've listened to all of those like IN DEPTH but they're all good and I definitely recommend Funebrarum, Impetuous Ritual, Ulcerate, Vasaeleth, and Blaspherian
| ITsHxCTOASTER Alight here's some dm I've enjoyed from... I'll do 2009 to now: Funebrarum - The Sleep of Morbid Dreams, Impetuous Ritual - Relentless Execution of Ceremonial Excrescence, Ulcerate - Everything Is Fire, Father Befouled - Morbid Destitution of Covenant, Immolation - Majesty and Decay, Vasaeleth - Crypt Born
| Electric City really its impossible to choose between devil and god and daisy since they're both perfect, but the last time I had a Brand New phase it was Daisy mostly, for what it's worth.
| Kimm Yeah yeah for sure dude. They seem to be a love or hate sort of band anyways and there's no sense arguing with anyone about them either way. I am a huge Summer of Darkness Fan! I quite enjoy their entire discography - not so much the self titled, but I don't hate it.
| Activista anti-MTV "At an early age, I chose the rapper I wanted to be," says Gab. "I admired KRS-One and Chuck D because they made me feel like being positive even in a negative environment. That song is about being that type of emcee, but also being human and striving to live up to the things that I'm saying. It's about trying to be better."
| Activista anti-MTV It helps, for me, to listen to music that is uplifting. I don't listen to any bands that I have rated anymore... check out "Rise" from this album stream: http://www.npr.org/2012/03/14/148585020/first-listen-gift-of-gab-the-next-logical-progression?ps=mh_fl
| paxman Thank you, sir. That means more to me than you'll ever know. Like I said, things always get better. Three years ago, I never would have imagined that I'd be where I am now. I have a fiancee and we have a house together, I've held the same job for two years--namely, that I am entirely independent. I still have battles with depression and anxiety, especially during the winter, but life is pretty good for the most part. I wish the best for you, sir.
| Athom staffers/mods get larger avatars
| someguest hahaha, they play some cool parts, but there's way too much generichug.
| North0House2 Yeah, I suppose I see what you're saying. Hammock is definitely not my favorite band, but they're certainly pretty good and I respect most of their material. I suppose, not being a massive fan myself, I just kind of enjoy that release without taking into account its flow in comparison to their other material.
| NeutralThunder12 It only takes two songs to make an album worth the listen, especially when there are only five songs on the album and both the songs are over six minutes long. "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "In the Court of the Crimson King" are outstanding songs, but everything in between is barely memorable.
| Observer gonna 5 it hard when i can come up with a worthy sound off
| TheZehan Anberlin's debut is okay, probably their worst album. And in my defense, Fever by BFMV was the first BFMV album I heard, and I liked their attempt at hard rock vs. metalcore (even though I like both their other albums as well). And the Nickelback album is my ultimate guilty pleasure album what got me into rock music instead of country music, which is all I listened to as a younger kid (along with Jars of Clay, which is why it's a 5 as well).
| TheZehan I'm gonna assume your not an Anberlin, Breaking Benjamin, BFMV, Skillet, TFK, or Jars of Clay fan.
| Deviant. Mezzanine, then just work backwards
| Deviant. Might have something to do with the fact that I'm just working my way through my library, rating as I go
| Panzerchrist And what better room service than a panzer tank exploding through your door?
| mallen- somewhere in the between by streetlight manifesto
| Gmork89 Glad you like it haha, Dev is definitely THE man.
