| asdfjkl hey, i totally agree w/ your thoughts on em, especially your appreciation for the sslp being a landmark album in terms of sheer hilariousness. that said, (brace yourself for some spam-sounding stuff) i'm trying to spread the word and just get my name out there to people who seem to really appreciate classic shady era stuff from when he was still gory, hilarious, etc. anyway, here's my first upload, any feedback is much appreciated, thanks again! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J47iS_LwmOU

| Deviant. I honestly wouldn't be able to comment on that, only because I'm not all that well versed on Jazz (as in I like a lot of it, but I haven't "studied" it to any degree). And no probs man, anytime
| Deviant. picked up by American producers was given a glossy overhaul and paired with almost "pop" sensibilities. Truthfully, the difference between the two is that "brostep" bears little in common with thegenre's origins, as all it really does is plagiarize the basslines of dubstep, it has no roots in either garage music or dub music. It's a commercial rebranding, as cynical and "elitist" as that might sound
| Deviant. Dubstep came about after 2 step music (garage) began to wan in popularity, with some producers wanting to simulate the complex basslines of drum and bass music but at a more contemplative tempo. When mixed in with dub and reggae influence (a reference back to the old school jungle days) dubstep was born. Over the years it went through various changes, at one end becoming more experimental and at others, more aggressive. It found fame in America around 2007-2008 and when.....

| AsoTamaki Haha, that's cool. I think Hybrid Theory might be the album that I've bought the most times. Kept on lending it to friends or trading it for something else. Everyone wanted it. Yeah, I can still enjoy pretty much all of those bands from time to time. I just don't listen very often.
| AsoTamaki I definitely was back in its day. I still like a few bands.
| facupm IF you like hard rock, and want to know Kiss, try Rock and Roll Over first, then you can go with Destroyer, Dressed to Kill, or the self-titled..
| Brokencyde Hey sorry for the late reply. I have made a post in my shoutbox in an attempt to convince you that I am not a troll. Check it out when you get the time.
| Metalstyles Hey man, I'm just glad you liked my recs :)
| Metalstyles Nah, the people are rather chill/laid back at local metal shows down here, so the attitude is definitely not a problem. Usually, though, when I go to these local shows, it's because of the bands that are performing, not to socialize. It's not hard to change though. I mean, though I haven't actually formed long lasting friendships there, I've always found a couple of cool guys/gals to talk to.
| Metalstyles LOL, well, that doesn't exactly sound like something that would work for me. I guess the problem is that none of my friends actually listen to the type of music I do, so they're not exactly interested in it either (be it awesome or horribad, doesn't matter). Guess I just need to make more friends at metal shows down here haha.
| Metalstyles Yup, I have quite a lot of irl friends who I talk music with, actually, but the thing is, we never really discuss the type of music I listen to haha. I'll mostly just share my views with them when it comes to pop and some of the songs/bands they like and am also open to conversation if they want to talk about a specific artist/genre, but yeah, I don't have many friends who I could talk about metal/rock with.

| Hospital Saving my review for the upcoming Trophy Scars full length... any advice is appreciated. Keep your eyes peeled for me! Up and coming :)
| MMX It couldn't have been too long ago, I haven't been on this site that long
| Metalstyles No no man, you ain't bothering me at all. I like conversing with people here, especially because I don't have that many friends irl who I can talk to music about in this kind of detailed way and music has an extremely important part in my life, so it's great to share my views with others when I can. Besides, you seem to be a cool guy, so don't worry :)
| MMX If your talking about Light Grenades by Incubus you have the wrong user man.
| Metalstyles Oh definitely, I'm just not an expert on the electronica genre, that's all I was saying :)
| Hospital Absolute punk, a website similar to this with reviews and what not. Let the slapping commence!
| Metalstyles I am not the biggest Electronica head, I admit.
| Hospital Not much man! Yeah I used to lurk all over AP and then I discovered this site and really liked the community as opposed to AP so I decided to make an account and have recently been posting quite frequently. Thanks for leaving me a shout maaaang

| Metalstyles Another thing that I love in metal is a melancholic atmosphere. To me, no other genre can quite convey crestfallen landscapes like metal does. I love it when there's beauty laying behind (or next to) the harsh metal core, and imo that expressive delivery style that metal encompasses really helps to carry forward (or make the listener feel) great emotions.
| Metalstyles It doesn't matter to me if it's exhibited in death metal, stoner metal, sludge metal, thrash metal, groove metal, nu metal, just bring that groove to me and I'm ready to go down with it haha.
| Metalstyles I'm with you on the whole band chemistry part as I also love it when the whole band just glues together and fires on all cylinders, with each member doing its part admirably, yet refraining from shadowing any other. One dynamic element that always gets me though is a groovy riff. And not in that technical groovy way either (though I can certainly appreciate that too); its that in your face, thick, meaty groove riff that pleases me oh so much.
| Metalstyles ...more on the electronic side of things). For future reference, and IF it's truly the way I predict with you (the industrial vs industrialized sound), then out of my recs, 16Volt, Blue Stahli, Acumen Nation and Ventana fall more in line with Crossbreed's sound than the others.
| Metalstyles Yeah, that Circle of Dust album is definitely a grower type. Also, I'm really glad you enjoyed Crossbreed, they're one of my favorite bands. From your response though, it seems like you appreciate industrialized metal more than pure industrial metal, am I right? (In case you're thinking what's the difference, then industrialized metal is metal with industrial overtones and influences, but its core sound is stil centered around metallic guitars. Industrial metal is half and half, maybe even...

| FromDaHood It's the soundtrack to my life. Lots of people (especially those in my age bracket: high school seniors) say it, but I really, truly mean it when I say that. Every single word Jesse Lacey sings has had some relevance in my life at some point in the last couple years, and I still hang on all of them after all this time. It's the pop-punk album that everyone should strive to make in my opinion if because it's really easy to relate to. In fact, it's probably a 5 because I overvalue lyrics like hell

| silentpotato ok i think a thousand suns sucks but ok at least you can come up with a reason haha
| silentpotato i dont even remember what i was 'r u seriousing' about
| Metalstyles Well, I don't know if they're unknown, but off the top of my head, Crossbreed - KE 101, Circle of Dust - Brainchild, Cyanotic - Medication Generation, The Shizit - Soundtrack For The Revolution, Rabbit Junk - Reframe, Ventana - American Survival Guide Vol. 1, Acumen Nation - Psycho the Rapist, K3M 53cK5d11N - [eMerGe-n-EvoLve], Skold - Anomie, Blue Stahli - Blue Stahli, 16volt - American Porn Songs, Psyclon Nine - We The Fallen. Yea, that should keep you covered for a while ;).
| Metalstyles Same here, nu metal is far from being a primary genre for me, but I can still dig certain bands from it when the mood is right. Also, btw, since you wanted to know what I like, why not check out my year end list? I'm too lazy to post a link but you''ll easily find it from my profile ;).
| silentpotato yeah well, it was my first bt album and it kinda made me put off checking out any of his other stuff quite some time which turned out to be a mistake. but i don't know, i used to be really picky about my electronic music (my music in general actually) and now i pretty much like everything so i may think differently of it if i were to listen now
| Metalstyles Hello there, I don't think we've met indeed. What is my favorite band you ask? Well, my tastes have changed some during the last few years, but In Flames is that one band I always and continuously listen to (and will keep listening to till the end of time haha). My other favorites include Crossbreed, Nonpoint, Rosetta, Cult of Luna, Be'lakor, DevilDriver, Dagoba, Down, Agalloch, In Vain, Toxic Holocaust, Dio, P.O.D., The Shizit, Cyanotic, Kylesa, Ghost Brigade, Metsatoll, Ensiferum, Skindred etc
