| pollastrerostit Yeah exactly the same for me lol 10y profile and full of cringe inducing s***ty metal bands
| pollastrerostit Been meaning to say this for a while but your avatar is pretty much the best avatar I have ever seen in my whole internet life, and I hadn't even seen it actually says coffee under damn. Music taste a bit too progressive for me but you 5d new BIR so it's all good. Cheers
| Rustune Dont you find the zinging on Laterlus to be annoying and grating
| Parallels lol great avatar. i needed that laugh today
| OmairSh Ah **** well that was anticlimactic. I thought it would take a few days hahahahaha
| OmairSh I bookmarked the page for the album, so I'll check it later, thanks for the rec dude! It's just insane the amount of music that's out there. And with technology being accessible people can make it in their bedrooms. What else have you been listening to?
| OmairSh Here's another 2020 prog release that I really enjoyed. It's from my home country so I might be a bit biased ;-). Pakistani prog/jazz rock fusion (Here's a taste https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Ia3O2jl2Q). Here's the review (they're on streaming sites like Spotify, etc.) https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81310/Mekaal-Hasan-Band-Andholan-Special-Edition/
| OmairSh Haha I know right, I'm spending so much time listening to music, especially re-listening to stuff I hadn't in years. I'm based in Toronto dude! Haha welllll you might have to include me in that category of sputnikers O_O. Hadn't even heard of the band Martin Grech heh. What sub genre of prog do they fall under?
| OmairSh Really sorry to hear man, you've had it pretty rough it seems unfortunately. Its really crazy how rapidly it spread, especially in Europe, and how many deaths it led to. Very sad. Hopefully they prepare the vaccine sooner rather than later. You're still able to take time out for sput during all of this :-P
| OmairSh Sup Lunatic, long time man. How've you been? Managed to stay sane during corona? :-P
| JohnnyoftheWell And no way - I'm off to Bologna Uni from September next year!!!
| Artuma yeah dude it's probably their heaviest and most inaccessible so it needs full attention to be appreciated
| Mongi123 Yo dude haha New Jersey in the USA. On my springbreak now. Why you ask?
| Friday13th hehe that's better. Fragile is amazing too.
| Friday13th 0.o 3.0? Don't act, you know what I'm talking about. Recant or hand in your prog badge.
| OmairSh My message got cut off -_-. Nice man, they are fantastic live. Their new album is coming out at the end of May!!! Too far away :-/. Guess I have SW's album to keep me busy until then.
| OmairSh :-O dude..... Listen to both and REALLY give them time to sink in, Bilateral especially (one of prog metal's finest albums ever imo, up there with Images
| OmairSh A 3 for Leprous' TPS. 3?!!! I know you didn't give it enough time to sink in dude.
| OmairSh Indukti's debut seeming like a Mariusz side project is a bit unfair, he only appeared on 2 or 3 songs. The only djenty band I listen to is Animals as Leaders, and that's probably because it doesn't have djent vocals. There's plenty of other good stuff to listen to out there, I'm definitely not missing much by ignoring djent imo.
| OmairSh And our pie charts look similar as well :-O, freaky. Yeah I heard Indukti's debut and it was pretty damn cool. Have been planning on checking the second album, should get on that eventually. I don't consider the band djenty though, they have more of a sludgy edge to them. Which is better of course :P
| OmairSh Oh cool, well if there's good music then any country is fine right. There's another cool Polish progressive/hard rock band that you might like called Votum. Their 2nd and 3rd albums are pretty good (especially the 3rd). Worth checking out when you have time. "Deadringer" from Harvest Moon http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Deadringer/6RPwZV?=5
| OmairSh Hey Lunatic, are you Polish?
| TheSpaceMan three 5s out of 500 ratings and one is reserved for a Pain of Salvation album? I approve
| Keyblade dude, that mindflowers rating is soul eating
| AtomicWaste Oh yeah, man, I've been listening to Gru's Cosmogenesis for quite some time and it's ****ing phenomenal. I'll look at some of the other stuff.
| AtomicWaste I'll probably listen to some of the bands you suggested (I've been seeing good things about Riverside and was getting curious anyhow!), but I doubt my opinion on Journey Through the Hidden Gardens will change. I like the way it brings things together and executes them. It has a sound that appeals to me in a unique way. If there are some other bands that sound somewhat similar, that's just another cool tune to listen to. Dig it, man.
| AtomicWaste I mean, I didn't need to hear Watchtower (Petrucci's influences) to know Dream Theater are good and were innovative. I didn't need to hear King's X (one of Devin's influences) to know that his albums are good or innovative. I mean, it's neat to hear that stuff and I often like it (I love King's X, not such a huge fan of Watchtower), but it's not a terminal component of reviewing or even having an informed opinion on an album.
| AtomicWaste ...Can't I just think it's a good album? I'm sure there's a lot of influences that go into it (and I'm sure I've picked out some of the ones that aren't in the list you've posted). It's still an album that does a lot of things to infuse along traditionally progressive lines and more recent spins on the term and I really like that. If other bands do that, too, that's super, and I'm sure I'd really like them too.
| OmairSh In my experience, I haven't been able to bare any genre that ends in "core"
| OmairSh Diversity is good, can't stick to one genre (I think that's what the prog genre is all about). Your name isn't a reference to Mariusz Dudas side project is it?
| OmairSh I see another progger round these here parts
