Historically this is a classic, highly influential album. When removed from the context of the history of metal, the album's title warns daring ears (and souls) of the questionable musicianship and horrible production they will face should this be given a spin.

not very technical, poorly produced, but very blasphemous, highly influential early NWOBHM-ish speed metal. before Slayer reigned in blood, these were the guys to look for!

First half of the album is a pretty fun, while the second half of it kinda lacks some punch. It's a quite good, and historically very important heavy metal album which contrubuted a lot to the birth of thrash. The production quality is ass, but the bass sounds really nice!

The only reason I'm giving this a 3 is because they were the first to spawn the sound that "would be" black metal. apart from that, the musicianship is quite dull and the production is extremely muffled and flat.

I'm not a big fan of black metal (the genre) and this album doesn't change my mind. Well, it sorta does. Kind of. I will say that it is a heck of a lot of fun. Kind of like a satanic Motorhead, albeit less musically talented.

Venom has never been called a "talented" band, but they must be credited with birthing extreme metal. The term "Black Metal" came from them. This is a very raw album, I dont think there are any touch ups, and that is why I like it.
