0.0 | breakingthefragile | October 2nd 12 | An album that's far too bloated for its own good, and not to mention its target audience's
attention spans. Coincidentally, Album Title Goes Here is most alike to one of
Zimmerman's first albums under the deadmau5 stage name, Random Album Title, and both
of their names being jokes on album titles aren't the only similarity they share. This album
is a compilation of more trance oriented prog house music just like RAT, which may perhaps
be in a possible attempt to distance himself from the dubstep scene he accidentally sort of
became a part of, and maybe also in an effort to bring the sound of former efforts to a
bigger audience now that he has achieved fame. Though whatever his reasons, while
Zimmerman's ambition and artistic merit are admirable, the fact remains that this is shallow
and thin electronic music for listener's deprived of better quality electronica. Songs feel
stretched on a rack to unreasonable lengths, with not enough going on to prevent fatigue
from setting in. Forget trippy, these are painfully mediocre beats with a watered down
effect, and throbs that drone on in dull monotony instead of producing sufficient club
energy. Decent music like this is the worst kind, because while the music can be somewhat
enjoyable if you don't set your standards high, you can't shake the feeling that there is
music just like this that is far superior.

2.3 average | Erwann S. STAFF | July 28th 21 | Half nightclub banger, half atmospheric prog house, 100% generic and lackluster. By bridging his older sounds with his 2010s will to go mainstream, Zimmerman falls into the trap of not focusing on what makes these two aesthetics great: the banger tracks tend to be obnoxious, while the progressive house ones do not remotely approach the level of transcendentalism his earlier works had.

2.0 poor | jkk45 | April 8th 13 | The definition of selling out. Most of the tracks are boring, and rely on badly made, uninspired baselines or vocals. The only saving grace is 'The Veldt', which has become a bit of a grower on me

1.5 very poor | Ziio | February 7th 13 | The problem with > album title goes here < is one of familiarity. He does nothing new or original outside of a few rare moments. The Veldt is probably the highlight of the album.

1.0 awful | 16awal | October 2nd 12 | Just crap. It sounds like he's run out of ideas, and now he's spewing shit. Hopefully this will kill Dead Mouse.

1.5 very poor | Aids | October 1st 12 | Never before has an artist or band that I liked had such a dramatic drop in quality over one album. I wanted to like this so badly but it's absolutely awful with nearly no redeeming qualities. The album is choked with eight-minute tracks that have no business being longer than four, and the guest spots are absolutely dreadful (especially on the third track which might be the worst thing I've heard all year). This is the biggest disappointment of 2012, easily.

3.5 great | SiliconFields | September 27th 12 | The Mau5 returns with an album that explores a lot more ground then 4X4=12, with mixed results. Songs like Channel 42, The Veldt, Closer, and Sleepless are top-notch, while Failbait is such a left-field shot that it's a bit jarring, and October feels a little dull.

0.0 | kinderfall1 | September 26th 12 | Let's face it...deadmau5 isn't going back to For Lack of a Better Name (Easily his greatest album). However, I
think that he's improved upon his newer sound that he established in 4x4=12. With >album title goes here<
deadmau5 has some very unique tracks, some signature mau5 tracks, and some tracks that honestly sound
like filler. Superliminal is, by far, the weakest mau5 album intro I've ever heard. It really does feel like filler to
me. But once you get to Channel 42, we head back to signature mau5 for about 6 tracks. Take Care of the
Proper Paperwork and October both feel like filler songs, but are separated by Closer, which is another
fantastic signature mau5 track. Sleepless and Telemiscommunications are very unique and beautiful tracks
from mau5 and I respect his ability to mix things up from time to time. Lastly, I'm not sure how I feel about
Failbait. It's a fun song to get into, and it's certainly very unique for mau5 to put out a hip hop track, but that's
about the extent of its greatness. Overall, I think that mau5 could have left out a couple songs on this record,
but when the songs are good, they're REALLY good. This record has some of deadmau5' best material on it,
but how good the album is as an entirety is hard for me to say.
Individual Songs 4.5/5
Full Album 3.5/5

3.5 great | sgtadderall | September 26th 12 | Joel Zimmerman has done once again what he has done all along. He got better. The Production quality of this album is better than anything he has made along with the diversity of the songs. With that said, the diversity of the songs becomes the albums weakness. He has never been as soft and tame as he is in Telecommunications, never as head banging electric as in Professional Grievers and ... Hip Hop! which is a great but breaks album flow. The album ends up with unclear direction and messy. With that said, Its for the most part, a great group songs but less of an album. Some of his best content is on this album, along with some of his worse, this is his most choppy piece but still good in my eyes. Keep it up Joel

4.0 excellent | NotSoSiniSter | September 26th 12 | Its a damn good album. He targets his specific fans. He pleases the people that liked his
4x4=12 album with Channel 42, Superliminal, Maths, and Fn Pig. The top 40 variety with
Professional Griefers. The people that like Strobe with The Veldt. The people that like the
old school Mau5 with Closer and October. Then the other stuff is just him experimenting with
new stuff. He's got a specific sound that he has maintain, while also adding good stuff to
the mix. If you don't like the album you probably don't like EDM music. If you shoved a
country album in front of me I would probably dismiss it as well.
